One of the most important differences between self-confident and insecure people is their use of history.
In general, people who are not sure that history is over,
While trustees are certain that history is still being developed
Perhaps, on their hands someday.
The way in which we enter this world is instinctively inclined to believe that change is impossible
And that the date had been completed.
Conspiring all around us to suggest to us that the current situation is unable to change,
We are surrounded by great people who follow decades of centuries or centuries.
It seems to us the house we live in firmly as an ancient temple,
The school we frequented seems to be having the same ritual since it began to exist.
Continuously, we learn why things are as they seem to us,
And we pretend to accept that what happens in reality may run counter to our wishes,
We believe that humans have drawn up a complete map of impossible and impossible.
If nothing happens, either it is not possible, or it should not happen.
This belief will lead us to over-boredom when we imagine the possibility of changing the world:
There is no point in starting a business.
(The market must be full of competitors)
I can create a new platform for art.
(But everything is fixed in a static pattern)
I can adopt a new idea.
(But it will look like before or crazy)
When we study history in a certain way, the picture changes sharply at a glance,
And then accelerate more like a mountain climbers of the minutes to explore the centuries, and shows us change as a matter of continuous.
Discovered new continents, invented alternative ways of governing nations,
There have been changes in the ways of confusion and the worshipers.
At one time, people wore strange clothes and plowed the earth with primitive machinery.
More recently, people cut off the king’s neck.
In the past, too, people roamed with weak ships,
They ate the eyes of the sheep, and used the short and did not know the dentist.
We conclude from all this at least in theory that things change,
, But virtually practically without our observation – we tend to distance ourselves and our society,
From the daily belief that we belong to the same turbulent historical narrative,
We believe that at the present time we are acting as key actors.
We feel that history is what happened in the past only,
History can not be happening around us now and there,
It seems to us that things – next to us at least – are stable and finished.
To be more courageous today to believe in the idea of change,
We should perhaps recall some of the captivating verses of TS Eliot’s series of poems, namely the Four Quarters:
“If, while the light flares in the authentic winter time in a chapel isolated history is now, history is England.”
In the winter, almost at about 4 pm we feel at this time quiet and stable,
Especially in small churches in a quiet English village mostly dating back to the Middle Ages.
The air in such churches is still and withering,
The heavy stone floor slowly wears off the feet of loyal visitors,
These are not places or times to think about changing the world.
Everything around us hints at how much wisdom we will have if we accept things as they are.
Go home through the fields, light up and sit still for a quiet night,
Here is the surprise of Eliot’s third line:
“History is now, history is England”
In other words, everything we associate with history,
Like the boldness of great people and the dramatic change of values,
Revolutionary questions about old beliefs, the overthrow of ancient systems,
All this continues.
Even at this moment, in places that seem quiet from the outside and seemingly unchanging,
Such as the countryside near “Shamali Qureen” in “Surrey” where Elliot wrote his poem,
We do not see it because we stand close to it.
The world is made and redesigned at every moment,
That is why each one of us has the abstract opportunity to be an active participant in history,
Whether at a large or insignificant level,
Our time allows us to build a new city all that is beautiful, such as Venice,
And change ideas in a radical way, such as the Renaissance,
And the start of cultural movements such as Buddhist movements.
For our present time all the coincidences and possibilities of the past, but more willingly every part of it,
It should not frighten us.
How to love, travel, taste the arts, govern, know ourselves, manage trade, grow and die.
All these things can be developed in the future.
The current views may seem like a court, but this is only because we exaggerate its consistency.
Most things around us are only arbitrary, not inevitable or true, simply the result of chaos and incidental events.
We must, even during the sunset after the winter, have confidence in our ability to join the course of history,
And change its course and its role, even in a simple manner.
