HISTORY OF IDEAS – Religion

In most history, religion has always been a center of attention for people.
But now in a large part of the developed world, it has become an episode or an irrelevant.
Because it is the most powerful force of our time: science, it has been announced that this is not true.
But debating whether religion is true or not is ultimately not the most important action we can make.
It is also to understand what is needed to pass on the key to pushing people to religion.
So that we can continue to recognize and answer these needs
Even outside a supernatural structure.
4000 BC, Arnhem, Australia
An Australian native painted a snake on a rock.
The so-called Insane Snake is a key part of Aboriginal religion.
This creation is associated with some other snakes of God and is worshipped as everything that has been done.
[They] created the sky, the lakes, the mountains, and they add color to the birds.
They publish rituals about marriage, food distribution and death.
These snakes rain and storm when anyone breaks the rules of the tribe.
The early Australians’ belief structure is almost
The primitive religions that exist everywhere on the earth are almost identical.
Religion has some of its origins from a desire to explain a very chaotic world.
It is a vast projection in the natural world that everyone is worried about.
It became the focus of various rituals to please the gods who might be angry.
In order to reward the dedication of one’s bounty and kindness.
There is always the horror of death and this hope is that its worst can be dealt with through the alliance with God.
From the primitive religious studies, one feels that passion is completely filled with horror and chaos.
These are the reasons for those beliefs.
And our ancestors were destined to live in this ignorant fear.
But one person is also more versatile about our own psychological knowledge.
Telling stories to calm us down, reuniting society and dealing with what we don’t know
Be smart and feel respected.
In Kushinagar, India, 400 BC,
A philosophical Indian prince Siddhārtha Gautama achieved his purpose.
His other title, Buddha, means awakened or fully realized person.
He taught him millions of believers soon, looking forward to the constant suffering in life.
But through reflection and meditation efforts, they will be tempted from the environment they are facing and uneasy.
The Buddhists called it the “monkey heart”.
In Buddhism we see a kind
A characteristic attempt to reconcile the believers’ mentality of anxiety, poverty, disease and death.
The task of religion is to keep us hopeful,
Stop our minds and succumb to terror
And take our hands to walk through some of the worst days of our lives.
The Song Dynasty of China in 1025 AD
A representative of a beautiful and benevolent Buddhist goddess by a sculptor is called Guanyin.
In Buddhism, Guanyin corresponds to the Virgin Mary.
And she and the woman have a similar role:
Listen to us in our death, gently meet us and
Enhance us to face the various tasks in life.
These mother-like characters in Buddhism and Christianity
Prompting that mature adult life
Sharing some terrible and self-doubt like cutting the skin, it grows
To respond to some sense of security and warmth in childhood.
Just being reasoning and being an adult doesn’t always succeed.
In our most terrible crisis, we are going backwards.
We want to be held as we were when we were 5 years old, understood and forgiven.
All that religion knows is honor and does not mock us.
Winchester, England, 1133 AD
The poorest people in the Winchester parish in southern England
Lived in the Holy Cross Hospital and the shelter of the poor.
This is the oldest charity in the United Kingdom.
Founded by Bishop Winchester, he read the Bible
Inspired by Jesus’ treatment of the poorest commandments with special dignity.
The shelter is designated for the poorest people,
They were built to the same size as the Oxford or Cambridge campus and the most beautiful and noble buildings of the time.
Shelters are a classic example of a theme that can be found in various religions around the world:
Charity and the rich are responsible for the poor.
There may be a step back in this, some religions can be gentle because of some selfish impulses.
And urged the right to be praised for not having the ability to defend.
This can be very much like thinking that the poor are guilty and responsible for their own destiny.
But religion asks the right to always imagine that they are unfortunate and in God’s plan.
Worth having a special status.
Nuremberg, Germany, 1543 AD
Copernicus published “On the rotation of the celestial body.”
This raised the solar center theory of the universe rather than the universal acceptance at the time.
According to the Earth Center of Joshua’s book.
In 1616, the Catholic Church moved to announce this sun-centered theory.
It was a nonsense and angrily prohibited Copernicus’s work.
However, the revolution of Copernicus was not extinguished.
Galileo will defend the system in the “Dialogue of Two Major World Systems” published in 1632 AD.
The pope was once again extremely angry.
It once again cursed Copernicus and confined Galileo at home.
It is inevitable to laugh at the Catholic Church but the church is going to
Holding a very cute thing, it used to serve humans very well:
Our thoughts on the importance of the universe.
We are important, and some people are concerned about the ideas.
The theory of Copernicus and Galileo is like a painful end to human childhood.
They found that we were only hiding in a random space in a tiny, forgotten, meaningless blue sky.
It is equivalent to the fact that a child discovers that his or her parents are actually not really important in the arrangement of things.
A new generation of horror will be echoed from these scientific discoveries for several times.
We are still dealing with it now.
July 1830, London, UK
Charles Lyell publishes the first of his three volumes of geography
The principle of geology.
The book uses some new geological methods to display
The earth is far older than previously believed.
The Bible says it is 6000 years old.
Lyle said according to some of his fossil records in the ocean
Prove that it must be at least 24 million years old.
Modern science now puts it in 4.5 billion years.
The discovery of Lyle’s British social commentary and essayist John Ruskin
Give up faith.
He said that his beliefs have been hit as thin as a piece of gold in the fossils.
He wrote that if geologists don’t care for me,
I might do well, but at the end of those Bible poems
I heard the bangs of those terrible gimmicks.
Now science makes it almost impossible for any intelligent person to believe
The Bible is true in its meaning.
Tunbingen, Big Brother, 1835
The 27-year-old David Friedrich Strauss published the first volume of an epoch-making book:
“The life of Jesus, strictly examined”
Strauss advances the idea that Christ is really the son of God or has made a miracle.
Or being nailed to the cross and returning to life
Because the important thing about him is the moral example he gives:
His generosity, his demeanor to the weak,
His commitment to forgiveness:
“You must forgive your brother seven times seventy times.” He instructed.
His humility: He was a carpenter when he was alive, living a simple life among the poor.
Strauss opens up a new way of looking at religion:
It is not a true description of what the world actually is.
It is something that people have invented to comfort themselves with very valuable and important methods.
Those worthy of selective respect.
Amsterdam, the Netherlands, 1885
A new national museum, the Rijks Museum is officially open.
Architect Pierre Kuiper has designed and restored the church throughout his career.
The building was soon called a new heavenly hall dedicated to art.
It has the solemnity of stained glass and celestial bodies.
The museum is one of many open in the second half of the 19th century.
This is the result of a widespread spread of panic, because religion is now fading and what can replace religion.
A leading answer is that culture can replace the doctrine.
The argument is that art can do what we have done for many religions.
It can be a guide, a source of comfort,
a teacher of wisdom and sympathy, a reminder of our better nature and
One thing it can be imperfect but still in a practical range and our moral compromise.
Oxford, England, 2006
A British biologist, Richard Dawkins, published “The Illusion of God.”
Dawkins says that religion is intellectually wrong and hallucinating,
Therefore, it should be completely removed from the public culture.
Dawkins stopped there and said that people should be protected by law in private.
It is religious but only a little bit.
Dawkins looks down on religious views and overlaps with violent Islam in the depths of the West.
Some methods of murder of Muslim peripheral groups appear to be the real goal of Dawkins.
Religion seems to be something that can be of interest to a group of crazy people.
Dawkins insists that rational people can find all the comfort they need in science and medicine.
Doctors can replace pastors, and welfare states can replace charity.
The laboratory can replace religious ceremonies and commemorations.
The rest we have TV and news.
The needs of various religious replies are real and important, despite the science and TV and themed parks and
Cancer treatment centers, we still have many such needs.
We will still die, we still need to be comforted, we still need to be reminded
In some cases of ferocious capitalism, our duties to society and the poor
And we still need to have a place to take care of those frustrated ambitions, worries and sadness.
Religion is likely to always be a deep illusion, but it is an important hallucination.
In order to know how to create a functional secular society in our time,
We need to understand it with sincerity, depth and sympathy.
