Yosemite Climbing Pioneers in “The Big Walls” | National Geographic

you
Yosemite Valley was a very special place
it was a place that we could live out
adventures
you
we were a hardcore a really devoted
climbers trying to raise the standards
push themselves you go do a big wall
sleeping at the base of the climb before
I was scared shitless you think about
that night thinking every single thing
that can possibly go wrong then starting
out on a giant wall like that the
exposure is unimaginable rope isn’t very
thick to begin with but when it holds
you and you’re swinging 2,700 feet above
the ground get your attention makes your
heart beat
balls-out stuff way the hell up there
gleaning the moon or something
after five six days on the wall living
there a sense of awareness just opens up
you know you feel like you could go on
forever and that feeling of being at
home on a wall is pretty amazing
