Weird Bugs Looking for Love | National Geographic

night falls on an African plate hyenas
sniff the air is they set out on a Hutt
and a toc toc e beetle taps out the
signal that will hopefully find him a
mate there are many species of the
tataki and each species has its own
specific drum pattern
will this work the female mimics this
erotic code and the male marches toward
his rendezvous as the male tataki makes
this Trek let’s ponder these holes
maiden leaves these holes weren’t made
for nourishment they were made for
amplification the mail tree cricket like
its beetle counterpart wants to
advertise for a mate and the leaf
becomes a loudspeaker his vibrating
wings are made louder by the whole the
sound the Cricut makes is amplified
three hundred percent of course just
tapping on the ground worked perfectly
well for the toc toc e beetles ah but
what’s mating ceases the female dumps
the nail like yesterday’s newspaper yep
just another noisy night in Africa
