TX Finalist | National Geographic Bee 2012

hi I’m rockin out maker from sugarland
texas you do the summer
my hometown is named for the old
imperial sugar factory which is behind
me
although we’re definitely a disparate
community we also have many modern
attacking
now i am in front of the beautiful city
hall of Chu Berlin
we also have an ice hockey centre and
Sugarland is home to a new minor league
baseball team the Sugarland skeeters
let’s say you could trade places with
any historical figure who would you pick
and why let’s see I think there are a
lot of people whose shoes I’d like to be
in but i would take nelson mandela this
impact on the world has been very
positive and i would certainly like to
have that kind of an impact myself one
day if you are given a free ticket to
travel anywhere in the world where would
you go oh my I think I’d need multiple
tickets because I’d have a long list of
places to visit remote exotic locales
like Antarctica and Iceland would come
first but if you were to ask for a
specific country I think it would be New
Zealand how do you switch all that
information and knowledge into your
brain what’s your secret I don’t have
any secrets but I will say that I study
lots of maps so that I can visualize
places and their positions better this
helps me remember a lot more information
if you are put in charge of the earth
for an entire day what would be the
first problem you would tackle well
there are a lot of people in the world
who are suffering from chronic illnesses
right now and many of them could be
cured if they had access to the proper
medicines or clean drinking water or
something basic that could easily be
provided to them I think that saving the
lives of at least some of these people
is one of the most useful things that I
could do if I were running the earth for
a single day ok try to stump the
National Geographic share one weird but
true fact that you have learned ah here
we go the plain of jars is a collection
of large jar shaped stones that some
archeologists believe could have been
used as a burial site by
groups of people who lived during the
Iron Age these stones are situated in
the northern part of an Asian country
can Union this country what is your
favorite geography fact and why the name
of croatia in the Croatian language is
Robert Scott I just find that very
interesting what do you want to be when
you are an adult I really haven’t
decided that yet hopefully as time
passes I will find something interesting
and pursue it before we finish could you
tell us the answer to the plain of jars
question well the plain of jars is in
Laos I hope you have enjoyed this brief
video about me and my city and I look
forward to the trip to Washington DC
thank you
