Florida native Dan Rojas is prepping for
a mega lightning storm to knock out the
electrical grid and turn his sunshine
state into an electrified wasteland he’s
creating a super solar station that will
cook food purify water and make weapons
but to concentrate solar heat to that
level
he needs a rare magnifying lens in mint
condition there we go so we’re after
right there all right so let’s see how
this lens looks got a sheet of acrylic
we gotta get off and not scratch the
lens the outer portion is an acrylic
lens and behind there as a friend L lens
which is like a giant magnifying glass
moment of truth it’s a thinner hold it
here we go that’s exactly what we’re
after right there nice oh well this is a
hybrid of two different types of plastic
so it’s not gonna have a long UV life
but it’ll definitely work what’s good
yes what we can burn okay
Afrin L lens is smooth on one side and
ridged on the other Dan believes that
when flipped backwards it can heat a
beam of sunlight to 500 degrees hot
enough to start a fire instantly it’s
gonna prop it up cuz the sun’s a little
bit lower see what we got
but before Dan goes any further he wants
real-life proof it’s the focal point oh
my gosh
that is so amazing Wow
on a bad lens looks better the pawnshop
never had any idea they had a solar
beast in their presence
