Here I am in New York and the tallest
thing that I have in kavik are my
trailers and my perch I called my perch
and I stand up there and I’m maybe 20 30
feet in the air but this is considerably
taller looking up this is all new and
glass but like this building here I like
all the unique architecture the old
architecture this is kind of the the New
York I want to see the ground-level
beauty of the place I mean architectural
II this is really free and cool I don’t
have arches like that in Alaska and this
is part of the culture of New York a
hundred years ago what did they put up
and what does it look like
so this catches my eye this is the
down-and-dirty New York and I see people
walking by zum-zum and they don’t notice
it anymore maybe but for me it’s like
wow look at that that’s awesome this
area here it’s called the High Line this
used to be from what I understand a
raised method of transportation however
now the city is reclaiming it as a park
for people and to me you know where I
come from it’s a very protected
ecosystem you are not allowed you know I
know garbage know this it’s very clean
you’re very conscientious of it and so I
find myself as I’m going along any bit
of trash I’m scooping it up and wanting
to throw it away see look at that what
the hell all right I’ll put it in my
pocket until I can throw it away no
matter where you are no matter what
ecosystem you’re in you know keep it
clean keep it real my eye is drawn to
the garbage on the ground because where
I live it has to be picked up it has to
be kept you know to a certain standard
I like the old architecture and the
beauty of that and then you’ve got the
functionality of the glass and the steel
and I mean you can definitely see the
progression of time and it’s still
morphing still holding itself together
and being the melting pot that it’s
always been
