Let the Games Begin | The Legend of Mick Dodge

you
here Mick dodge lives among a community
of fellow forest dwellers and this
morning he’s trying to track down an
elusive friend see if I pick up some
kind of sign finding him sometimes it’s
really hard you don’t just look for
tracks on the ground the guy travels
through the trees Hey see what I mean
man hang on I’ll be right down
all right man this is Ben Sandford and
he earned the nickname Tarzan climbing
high in the trees there there he goes
you see it now you know why we call him
Tarzan hi how you livin mad man how you
decide to see you good – yeah I’m in a
long time Mick and Ben have been closed
for years but they’re also friendly
rivals and years ago the two co-founded
an annual event in the spirit of
competition it’s fall the call for the
Olympic mountain games man all right
every year around this time Nick and his
friends gather for a wilderness
competition they call the Olympic
mountain games there’s a lot of
knowledge and skills to learn from
everything out here that’s what my
brothers and sisters and I train with
the games bring the forest community
together to connect with their inner
child and most importantly to have fun
key thing is everybody laughing and if
they had a good time have they met some
challenges on the way that’s the meaning
of the game of life this is the real way
to make fire it’s always a humbling
experience because you never know today
Ben and Mick will kick off their games
by lighting a symbolic flame and Ben
always does it the primitive way can
just go back and forth with some
downward pressure see if we got one here
who wants to play there’s the start of
your games my friend oh I love it
with the flame igniting this year’s
competition let the games begin
Nick and Ben both have work to do time
to gather up the tribe for the games so
I’m gonna go see how many I can pull up
all right I’ll see what I can dig up
all right yeah you take care
