we’re testing to see if listening to
Mozart really makes you smarter or if
this is just another classical brain
myth conducting our experiment is
University of Virginia psychologist dr.
Jim Coan who began with a baseline test
for you and our volunteers ah but they
didn’t do so well
I don’t know so now we’re gonna play
some Mozart to see if you can really
improve your IQ listen to the music then
play along with our volunteers and
compare how you do
now that they’ve listened to classical
music will their scores and yours
improve we’re about to find out here’s
the first one
24h IAD
did you get it let’s see what our
volunteers said when we showed them the
same puzzle 24h IAD 24 hours in here
there you go I think I got this one 24
hours in a day 24 hours in a day yes
that’s exactly hey you go good is that
what you got – if so well done let’s try
another this one might be a little
tougher 26 L I ta do you know the answer
let’s see if any of our volunteers got
it 26 L ITA uh 26 letters in the
alphabet
yeah well 26 letters in the alphabet
were you able to solve this puzzle at
home okay
last one this one’s gonna be even
tougher ready
3f I a Y could you figure it out what
about our participants 3f I a y3
families in the yard three feet in a
yard three feet in a yard that’s this
one right yeah good good Wow he pulled
it out what about you at home more
importantly did you do any better than
the first time you tried this any faster
when we tested our participants before
they listened to the classical music
nobody got more than one right but after
just 20 seconds of classical music
everyone got to write and a few even got
all three what’s going on you know I
don’t know I definitely seem to be able
to concentrate a little bit more after
the Mozart music I think listened to
Mozart made my synapses my brain cell
just kind of move faster so yeah so then
the Mozart Effect must be true right not
so fast
before we decide for sure we’re gonna
take this test again only this time
we’re gonna rock
