boy I’m Dallas Seavey I’m a professional
sled dog racer in 2012 I finished in
front of my dad it became the youngest
person ever to win the Iditarod come on
guys
that’s hot Dallas everything he knows
but I haven’t taught him everything I
know
so Dallas is just gonna have to stay out
of my way
okay Ruby bang okay so you guys coming
up in a train wreck and you’re gonna
compete with him just in a quick
training session everything always turns
into a competition with him you know
yeah but yeah keep your eye on the ball
we’re training for a thousand mile race
there’s no point hurting a dog now away
exactly we’re not gonna go pushing like
crazy but if he tries to show us up on
our home field I know enough shortcuts
it’s not a problem just show them the
way to the river and my dad’s been stuck
truck mushing pretty much all year his
training trails down and Sterling aren’t
all that great so he’s gonna come join
us and train out of our place for a
little while my dad’s dogs yeah they’re
probably averaging this much of the same
height and within about two pounds of
the same weight it’s like clones the
whole way it’s a lot of braiding to get
that sort of time 20 years of having a
150 to 200 dog kennel I mean that’s a
long time to pick the best of the best
and I mean if they’re not perfect he
sells them to you me how’s that working
out for me
in 2012 I won the Iditarod with dogs
that my dad had decided we’re not good
enough to win the Iditarod with his team
so he put him up for sale I bought them
we won the Iditarod with them I think
you’re gonna beat your pops this year I
think we’re gonna beat everybody this
year I’ve never driven a dog team like
this one before I think this is the team
to beat I think we got him
they’ll made it stop get lost
the whole the long trip how you doing
are you my clone I bought you this coat
for Christmas your mother pulled this
look at your shoes at the stay on mine
this is ridiculous a dress it’s actually
kind of unnerving how similar my dad and
Alice are to the point of dressing the
same you guys maybe some mushroom yeah
all right you bring all your cripples up
here all my championship race dogs how’s
the trail it’s it’s they’re a little bit
different than last time you going out
yeah I’m going right now
come on you yeah we’re ready to go yeah
I’m just going to the river and back
when I get home I’ll have coffee made
for you guys dinner I’ll have plenty of
time to get all that stuff don’t ask dog
the fastest yeah you can’t beat me to
the river in back there’s no way no way
I think we got ourselves a race here my
dad showed up at our kennel to train a
sled dog and of course it turned into a
competition within minutes so now we
have a little bit of a race challenge
I’ll tell you what if you beat me which
of course I will
then I will clean all your dogs however
if I beat you you clean all these guys
clean dogs I know that’s why it’s me
great
don’t lose either all right as usual as
soon as I show up Dallas is challenging
the speed of my dogs and my ability to
race so I’m gonna put him in this place
we have the home-field advantage on this
race and I have a better dog team than
him my dad doesn’t stand a chance
harness up some dogs and go on all right
let’s get out of here
