Emmanuelle Chriqui on Playing Herodia | Killing Jesus

you find comfort here where your father
once ruled her Odia is married to
Antipas but she was married to his
brother first which is a massive faux
pas and at the time you know she was
really looked at badly for doing that
she had Salome her daughter with her
first husband but Antipas raised Salome
it’s made up to raise her as his own and
basically her Odia her sole purpose in
life is to become queen and to take care
of her daughter until now I’ve seen the
Baptist as a threat to myself and to our
future rule now I must suffer my
daughter’s disgrace there will be other
suitors she was known to be sort of the
most hated queen if I ruled I’d kill him
and all who follow him I would say it
was definitely a departure for me to
play you know a quote/unquote villain
the challenge for me was you know how do
i as an actor stop judging the character
I had so much fun figuring out who is
her Odia according to just this
character on the page forgetting the
biblical significance just for a moment
and I fool for wanting more I sort of
looked at her Odia and thought you know
well if she was a person in modern day
she would be someone who probably ran
her own company
you know fiercely ambitious wears the
pants loves her daughter so those are
the two things I really hooked into it’s
like okay well a woman then didn’t have
a lot of choice it was like well what is
there well to strive for being Queen
thanks him let the mob see
who is truly fit to be king of the Jews
when I sort of like figured that out
then I was just you know able to just
hopefully have Herodium be just an
honest true the story of the Bible is a
fascinating story and that’s how I look
at it it’s amazing to be part of this
story
