the reason I get so stoked about these
sports is that I’m an expedition junkie
too when I’m not rock climbing I’m ice
climbing and in my film
Ahlberg I go way off shore and climb
icebergs for this expedition we flew out
to Eastern Canada and then headed north
to the Labrador to look for iceberg
you know I’ve climbed all over the world
and climbed ice everywhere but never
iceberg so this is going to be cool one
of the big problems we had right away
was finding a captain to take us out to
the icebergs nobody wanted to do it and
finally we found a guy I’m sure he
thought I was crazy but at least he was
up for it first / got there I don’t know
whether to be excited or scared we have
a bird which that means I’m gonna have
to actually climb ahead
this is freaky one of the hardest parts
about the whole experience is getting on
the iceberg the boats going up and down
and so you’ve got a time your jump on
and then you’re on it the boats gone and
there you are
as soon as he hit that iceberg you hear
this track and it sounds like a gunshot
every time you swing a nice tool or kick
with your feet and that sound on a
normal ice climb means you’re about to
die all right get out of here that was
freaky oh just go bang and you’d feel it
all the way in your feet I’ve never felt
anything like that as soon as I get onto
an iceberg my heart rate just spikes
you’re committed you’re coming off that
iceberg one way or the other either in
the water in the boat I’m really
concerned that if I hit it the whole
thing is gonna fall off and I’m gonna
get busted up by it it’s a fascination
moving over really hopefully this
doesn’t just break off getting to the
top is a bonus but really I just wanted
to get on Kleiber out and get off
without the thing flipping over and
killing me get off I decided that the
last iceberg was too dangerous to stay
on and immediately after we got off of
it it basically fell apart get out of
here
that was the part that I was just
standing on now look at it totally
different it’s broke right where we were
climbing now the best part of this whole
expedition for me is that nobody got
seriously hurt we do it again not happy
