whilst the diving expedition in the
Bahamas searches for evidence of
man-made structures on the bottom of the
Atlantic two teams of scientists in the
Mediterranean believe they may have new
evidence to back up an idea that the
inspiration for the story of Atlantis
came from an ancient disaster three
radical ideas united by a modern-day
obsession
in the Bahamas underwater explorers
focus their investigation on the
rectangular stone slabs of the Bimini
Road
if you look at the Bimini Road the sand
on one side the sand on the other side
there’s a clear of defined pathway the
Bimini Road has inspired fascination
since the 1960s when the road was first
spotted it sparked a frenzy of
speculation that has lasted until today
[Music]
while the rots fit together like jigsaw
puzzles as all these rectilinear
90-degree angles which you don’t find in
nature ready all right so the team
embarked on a second dive on the Bimini
Road they want to get a much closer look
at the structures and search for any
archaeological evidence of manmade
activity
we can actually look all the way
underneath some of the slabs and that
would give us the opportunity to measure
and and look for right angle effects and
things that might further prove what
these strange formations are
conditions are near-perfect the team are
able to examine what actually lies
beneath this fascinating structure it
seems like there are two layers to some
of the road sometimes they look like
they’ve been placed up on a single
working Rock a wedge rock of some sort
it’s very unusual to see that kind of
formation in nature and the support
rocks in particular were extremely
angered most people looking at it would
conclude that in fact some humans have
placed those there and use that to level
out the road so it was all one level I
don’t think anybody can dive in M&E and
not believe that these are man-made
artifacts Atlantis an entire
civilization sunk by the sea a
present-day obsession with an ancient
myth the idea that the earth under our
feet could suddenly shift and that there
would be this massive tsunami that
washes over the continent and utterly
wipes out our civilization to the point
where hardly anything remains is a
terrifying concept so that would lead
everyone to want to deny that it’s true
out of a sense of survival
even today we battle against cataclysmic
floods hurricanes tsunamis and monsoons
submerge our cities
atlantis has a chilling residence in our
modern world
