WHO DO YOU WANT TO BE? Motivational Video | Motivational Speeches | Morning Motivation

you see nothing is great until a life
has changed if you’re there you’ll know
what I mean when you get to that spot
when this question is ringing in your
head what should I do with my life my
work my career it feels like everything
else fades away there is nothing else
but that question over and over again
tying you up but what if it’s the wrong
question in fact it is we get caught and
drive ourselves crazy trying to find
clarity when we just don’t have it we
run into a brick wall no answer
again same brick wall no answer so what
do we do we change our focus the
question is not what should I be the
question is who do you want to be what
does happiness success and fulfillment
mean to you these are the questions you
should spend your time on because if you
let yourself sit and let the noise fade
away you’ll know those answers when you
don’t have that answer it can lead you
to a bad place it assumes there is a
right answer a right solution it assumes
you can discover that right answer by
thinking longer and longer about the
problem that this torment in your head
will eventually give way to that perfect
idea that perfect spot
but these assumptions are wrong you
don’t find success you build it you
don’t discover passion you uncover it
and then bring it with you and sometimes
answers cannot be seen from where you
currently stand you need to walk forward
you need to take passion first then
things come into view so if you’re in
that spot asking that question what
should I do with my life my work my
career stop asking me
who do you want to be then move forward
in that direction
it sounds simple and me in certain ways
it is that you can just focus on who you
want to be as opposed to worrying about
what do you want to do that by shifting
your focus in just that little way you
can start to find clarity in these
questions you don’t have answers to
assume for a second that you’re
wondering what do I do for my work what
do I do for my career and you’re asking
that question over and over again and
you just don’t have an answer what if
you were to think about who do you want
to be do you want to be somebody who
works long hours or can come home to
their family to certain time do you want
to be somebody who finds objective
success salary promotions career status
at all costs or somebody who find the
subject of career success somebody who
finds happiness in their work because
what you’ll realize when you start to
get clarity on that answer is that
there’s probably lots of paths that can
work for you there’s lots of paths that
can get you to that spot and what you
have time for is to work through all the
little changes that will come you’ve got
a long time to work through this career
what you don’t have time for is to lose
momentum but you don’t have time for is
to lose energy to get caught in a rut
and to stay there over and over and over
again it can be a simple shift not what
do you want to do of who do you want to
be in fact this is a great life
leadership trick when you get caught on
questions that you just can’t answer it
not just this one but any question you
just can’t answer one of the things you
can do is to switch the question to
start to look at it from a different
vantage point and what it does it gives
you a different way to move forward
through that problem
sometimes with light leadership the
challenge isn’t as hard as we make it I
know what gets in the way of changed I
know the idea of work is too busy I
don’t get enough sleep I’ve got bills I
need to pay I get all those things that
get in the way of change but I also get
how simple it can be
how can be one answer one decision made
a million times that you will aim with
every step you take towards being the
person you want to be I get they can
also be that simple what if you refused
to keep doing the same thing over and
over again when you want to change what
if you refuse to wake up and just follow
the same path have you decided that
things would change it can be that easy
and I get all the difficulties but it
can be that easy
and don’t worry that you can’t see all
the steps don’t worry that you can’t
figure out how to get from where you are
to where you want to be there’s two
steps two steps to think about where do
you want to get to and what’s next
what’s the final destination and then
where do I start and you start with the
next step you start by making the next
decision that lines up with who you want
to be the end of the day I get that it’s
gonna be hard but doesn’t need to be
complicated one decision made a million
times who do you want to be
look your habits determine what
direction you’re going your success in
life your results in life are in direct
proportion to your habits not what you
say you’re gonna do but what are you
gonna do you’ve got to develop
successful habits and I believe that
starts with being a daily goal setter
and a daily goal hitter too many people
spend their whole life they say they’re
dreaming but they’re really just pipe
dreams they’re thinking about what they
want to be doing in 20 years and what
their plans are way out in the future
let me tell you what the future you need
to be worried about is not the next 20
years but the next 20 minutes what are
you gonna be doing what are you gonna be
doing to be effective when you get up
every day know your priorities life will
overwhelm stuff will overwhelm the with
all the information we have now whether
it’s your phone where sometimes I think
we have smart phones and stupid people I
mean it is so easy to get consumed by a
bunch of stuff that is not gonna get you
where you want to get to say every day I
will do today what others don’t so I
will have tomorrow what others won’t
you’ve got to choose to be effective
know what your priorities are know what
your must dues are don’t let your phone
don’t let your you know your tablet
don’t let the TV don’t let your friends
knock you off what are the most
important things to get done today as
John Wooden said make today your
masterpiece get up today and get it done
finish the day attack the day and go
change your life
as Mark Twain said the secret to getting
ahead is getting started that’s
something I want all of you guys to
really embody and really think about
really put at the core of your existence
that step number one to accomplishing
whatever it is that you want to do is
actually getting started and I
understand I know the thing that holds
you back I know the thing that is
absolutely paralyzing for people is you
don’t think that you have what it takes
to go out and be good and rather than
face that difficult brutal process of
growing and getting better and quite
frankly facing your inadequacies it’s
easier just to sit back but as John
Wooden said never let what you cannot do
interfere with what you can there is
something right now that you’re capable
of there is an innate skill inside of
you that’s your spark it’s that starting
point it’s that thing that while you may
not be the best in the world at it it’s
a flame that you can fan it’s something
that you can breathe life into and
really begin to get good but first you
have to understand the very nature of
progress and that’s a Stephen Covey set
you’re not the product of your
circumstances but rather a product of
your decisions and it’s those decisions
that are going to allow you to build
that skill set so don’t worry about
where you started don’t worry about what
you already have
remember it’s the decisions that you
make it’s going down that road it is the
decision to get started
it’s the decision to face a possible
failure it’s the decision to get up once
you’ve failed and it’s the decision of
what to learn
when you fail do you learn that you’re
not good enough
never should have tried well do you
learn a lesson from the failure and get
up and brush yourself off and remember
that at the end of the day you’re going
to go as far as you’re willing to fight
for and that’s it if you’re willing to
fight to go all the way then you will go
that far you will set a new bar you will
define for people what is possible to
become that beacon of hope you become
that thing that other people look to as
the standard at the end of the day it
started with you getting started it
started with you showing up
it started with you pushing and trying
don’t worry about what you have and what
you are focus on who you want to become
and the price you’re willing to pay to
get there
