I don’t know that I have in recent years
got as much response from a message as I
did from last week people said it
touched them and moved them and
ministered to them and challenge them to
be more just they didn’t realize that it
is an abomination to have two different
scales one in which you weigh me and
another in which you weigh yourself I
use me figuratively but but one in which
you weigh the people around you and
another that you use for you and and I’m
telling you I’ve been thinking about
values because that’s what we were
talking about values what do you value
and how do you evaluate evaluate
circumstances and situations how you
evaluate a circumstances situation has
something to do with your values has
something to do with your scales and I
don’t want to continue down that path
this Sunday it said okay so that was
just my attempt to give you to those of
you that weren’t there or didn’t hear
the message or just logged on to
broadcast a context in which you can
think with me as we grapple with the
complexities of this subject this week
I’m going to weigh it out part two okay
and and and I want to talk about this
notion I want you to think about this
value is determined
by sacrifice where there is no sacrifice
there is no value if you have something
for sale and I will give you nothing for
it it has no value because the value is
dependent upon how what somebody will
give up to get it ok it’s not always
dependent upon what you think about it
the over inflation of the ideology that
says self-esteem determines everything
it’s not true because sometimes people
have self-esteem beyond their value let
me see there’s a friend of mine back in
West we didn’t used to say I wish I
could buy you for what you’re worth and
selling you for what you think you’re
worth I could live the rest of my life
off the difference it’s just it’s a slap
in the face you figured out late some
people think they bring so much to the
table but they’re the only ones that
think so and an overinflated ego is just
as bad as low self-esteem so if we think
that value is determined by sacrifice if
we’re going to try that thought in text
let’s try it with first Peter 1:18
and that’s gonna be the substratum who
we’re going to what are you watching
online or you’re here in the service I
want you to go to first Peter 1:18 and
this is the premise with which we will
start our discussion today that value is
determined by sacrifice okay
first Peter 1:18 says for as much
she know that he were not redeemed with
corruptible things okay when when God
got ready to ascribe value to what he
would be willing to give up for you he
didn’t reach in the earth and get silver
or gold for as much as you know that he
were not redeemed redeemed redeemed let
me you said we’re redeemed
theologically we hear the word I’ve been
reading I’ve been redeemed our Liberty
I’ve been washed in the blood of the
Lamb and it and it takes on a
theological connotation but originally
the word redeemed didn’t have anything
to do with theology it had to do with
purchase like you take something and
hock a watch and to redeem it is to get
it out of hock i redeemed it and what
what Jesus did for us is that Satan put
us in hock he pawned us into a state of
sin and Jesus went down to the pawn shop

value placed on us it wasn’t gold or

about how I evaluated myself it was how
much the market would bear how much he
would pay to get me out of hock why
would he pay that much and leave you
living in the pawn shop with your vain
lifestyle he didn’t redeem you so you
could go to church on Sunday and live in
hell from Monday through Saturday and be
oppressed and be discouraged and be
depressed and be heavy laden with
bondages that you can’t break over your
life and anger and insecurity that then
that was wasted money he redeemed you
with the blood value is determined by
sacrifice spirit of the Living God Falls
fresh on us today as we delve into your
word and it be illuminated in such a way
that people receive light inner light
enlightened them as we share your word

you may be seated so what determines
value what determines value I want I
want to give you some of those some
secular metaphors to bring out spiritual
truth in business there is a concept
called intrinsic value
and if if a company was evaluated it is
evaluated on the basis of its intrinsic
value my company is largely an
entertainment production agency and we
produce television and movies and things
like that and so if you got ready to do
an evaluation of my company and
intrinsic evaluations is how much are
the assets the building the staff the
amount of money the profits how much how
much are the assets but an intrinsic
value goes beyond tangible assets down
to the strength of the brand the
strength of the brand means for
McDonald’s if you evaluate at McDonald’s
by its assets alone you wouldn’t have
the full value you would have to include
how well-known the brand is what people
think about the brand what what the
perception of the golden arches does
when I Drive home I Drive down the road
sometimes that is full of restaurants
that are mom-and-pop restaurants they
are not a part of a brand and and they
have to struggle for customers and then
you’ll get to the corner and there will
be a Wendy’s or a Burger King selling
the same hamburger sometimes not it’s
good but because they kept the name
Wendy’s or McDonald’s on it they are
lined up there and that the other
restaurant there’s two or three little
cars so this intrinsic value is the
power of that name of that brand of that
perception how people feel about it
intrinsic value are you following what
I’m saying let me go a little bit deeper
I have a wedding ring on and if I took
it down the hand that appraised they
would ascribe a value to my ring based
on what the market would bear that
doesn’t touch what it means to me
I hardly ever take my wedding ring off
showers swimming in to make getting
reason being I lost it about two times
have you ever had to tell your wife that
you couldn’t find your wedding ring
you know how in those horror movies
where the white parts of your eyes go
black the white part of her eyes went
black
she says whoops I said I’m looking for
it I started sweating like I was
preaching I said I’m looking for I’m
looking everywhere I can’t find it she
was over there moving chairs and friend
she said yeah you can find this ring she
was sleeping like the woman in the Bible
who couldn’t find the 10th coy
she was sweeping all over the place I
was scared like I was 7 I was she had
staff and everybody looking for the ring
I look down on my hands and knees like I
was gonna get a whuppin
trying to find the ring bless my soul if
I didn’t get it back and fooling around
and couldn’t find it again and I didn’t
even want to tell her how come you’re
heavier ring on a you know what had
happened was it I said I mean I talked
for a living I started good – did you
think when I got that ring back I’ll
take it off him or I just walk around
with it on my head whether i gave way to
lost weight sometimes sometimes the
flesh around my wings swells up like
bread dough
I still don’t take it off if I lose
weight and it is about to fall off my
hand I hold it all with my thumb yeah
yeah because I just don’t want to be
it’s not just the value of the ring it
is the intrinsic value of what it means
to us that I could never get back if I
sold it I couldn’t sell it for what it
means to me okay because that’s an
intrinsic value that the market will not
bear never will forget when I bought my
house I bought my house in and and and
my house is built in a neighborhood that
they pulled unquote over built for the
neighborhood and what that means it’s
when you build a bigger house then the
houses surrounding it that means that
when you get ready to sell the house you
can’t get how much you it costs to build
it because the appraisal isn’t based on
the materials that are in the house it
is also assessed by the environment in
which it was in so I told the owner of
the house I went to see the house about
three times and then I got on the owners
nerve because they kept looking at the
house of wouldn’t make offer so I told
the realtor for me not to come back if I
wasn’t gonna make offer he’s been here
three times and he hadn’t made an offer
and so the realtor told me what he said
I said to the ribs I said you tell him
that I said that I don’t want to make
him an offer because I see how much they
love the house and I see how much care
they put into them yes how much money
they put into it
and the quality of the beatle round and
the quality of the infrastructure and
the quality of the finish al and I know
how much they love the unique nuances
that they put in the house but since I’m
going to have to go to the bank I can
only offer you the appraised value and I
didn’t want to hurt your feelings
so she went back and totally what I see
it and and he said he sent backward to
me said make an offer and that’s it I
got it I prepared him for the
of not getting back what he had put in
it lowering his expectations to
understand this this this offer I’m
getting ready to make you is going to be
disappointed if the issue is just how
disappointing isn’t going to be and from
there I got a wonderful deal on my house
you understand what I’m saying I want

telling me the replacement cost okay I
was telling him I am NOT an insurance
company I’m a buyer and I am not willing
to sacrifice enough money to replace it
is a different figure from the appraised
value because the appraised value is
based on the neighborhood and the market
and the economy and a lot of other
peripheral things have to do with value
in it funny the same house that could be
sold for two hundred and fifty thousand
dollars in in 2015 might could have only
been sold for a hundred and seventy five
thousand in 2010 same house same
location same neighborhood but because
of the market the value of the house is
determined by how much people are
willing to sacrifice to get it and how
much people are willing to sacrifice
depends on the times and the environment
like when people get scared they’re not
willing to sacrifice as much they said
that when we president elect Trump got
the nomination a won the presidency that
the stock markets dropped immediately
for while people got scared when people
get scared they draw back because value
is not determined by the owner is
determined by the buyer
and if the buyer is afraid the price
drops you see are you found well I’m
going somewhere just stay with me you
see you got to understand that the value
of the dollar I went to London a few
years ago and the dollar against the
pound at the time I was in London was
worth about 50 cents so if something
said it was 200 pounds I had to pay $400
to get it if I go over there now with
the same dollar and it says 200 pounds I
can spend $100 and buy it same dollars
different perception and the value
fluctuates on the same item based on the
sacrifice how much the buyer will pay to
get it and God said when Satan held you
up on the slave table and said how much
will you give my value isn’t determined
by my personal worth my value is
determined by how much he would
are you giving how much he would
sacrifice so the Bible says you were not
born with silver and gold but with the
precious blood of Jesus put it up
yeah that women when you begin to look
at the two different things this is what
the market would bear God said I won’t
just give silver and gold I will give my
son for you so I’m not valuable
I know I’m valuable because value is
determined by sacrifice I did some
horrible things I did some things I’ll
testify about I did some things I don’t
tell how many of you have never told you
a whole testimony we everybody started
grinning they look guilty they would
give if I was in court with you you
wouldn’t get arrested yeah
nobody tells everything except the crazy
people because because the truth of the
matter is if I told you everything you
would be shocked then he would give
anything for come on somebody so the
reason I have to worship him and give
him the praise is that I realized that
he paid more for me than what I deserve
if you’ve got that testimony give him a

more by giving him then he got by

the world intrinsically his attitude
about it like the wedding ring like the
homeowner it was his love that made it
valuable
he saw the infinite God God so to the
infinite degree love the infinite
emotion the world the infinite deficit
that he gained the infinite sacrifice so
that whosoever believed all y’all on
here where I’m saying God so loved the
war he said that’s important to me I’ll
pay more than anybody else would pay
because I feel more than anybody else
feel you don’t have to like me God likes
me God so long

Son value is determined by sacrifice so
when I see the cross when I see the
magnanimous sacrifice of the cross when
I see that they hung him high and
stretched him wide and nailed him to a
tree and then he hung there from the six
to the ninth hour and that he died until
the ground got nervous and begin to
tremble and died until the Sun refused
to shine and died in two brains open up
all over Jerusalem when I see how he
died so willingly that they didn’t have
to break his legs that he became
obedient unto death and gave up and gave
of the goat when I see that no man took
his life but he laid it down when I see
that he despised the cross but for the
joy that was set before it of having me

if I say to you I’m gonna give you two
hundred dollars a day
you see I’m not sure I get 200 bucks

I say I will give you $200 a day I’m

I’m gonna give you $200 a day to work
for me let me tell you what I just see
it on the base of your resume or skills

be valuable for a short period of time

have to give up another day of your life
to give the next one be sure you want it
bad enough because you just sold

this phone that you give him the money
back
and you give me my money

see people who are good at one thing
doesn’t mean that they’re good at
everything that’s why this the online

they’re good at and you discover what
they’re not and with the absence of a
dating period to get to understand what
level of weakness you are living with
you say I do to the gift but you live

because I don’t love the boat I get on

are you killing something that’s more
important to win something that’s less
important let me give you an example are
you so angry at your ex-husband that you
won’t let him near your child because
you want to show him how bad he hurts
you winning becomes more important than
the damage you’re doing to the child
because you’re so engrossed to get me
even with him that you don’t care how
you beat up the kid as long as you show
him oh you’re using huge arm you don’t
know what pain is
you don’t walk around with tears in your
eyes cuz I’m never noticing that you are
killing the child
what are you value what do you value
determines the decisions you make see
most people when they teach it they act
like the other one I didn’t have any
values she did her value was a women
how dare my brother say I have no values
because I have no boat and it’s just
that I don’t value what he values not if
two people get married and they don’t
value the same things it becomes
difficult to have a relationship with
somebody who doesn’t fight for you value
is tying together for him value is worth
him if you don’t have the same value
he says I’m a good man you on the phone
talking about girl if he to you it’s not
that you don’t have the same faith or
the same ethnicity or the same
background or like the same music you
don’t have the same value you want to be
connected with people who value what you
value because when you do your idea
happy and my dear happy becomes the same
thing but when your idea happy is one
thing your mind being happy is the same
thing and we’re trying to make each
other happy though we’re really trying
to make each other happy we have a
tendency to give each other what we
value rather than what they value see
some people like it when you shout I
like it when you get quiet because when
you get reacquired I know you’re
thinking about stuff
oh that’s why they did work I never
didn’t understand why they’d never work
you didn’t have the same values you
value going to church he values getting
high you used to value getting high
now you value going to church he’s mad
at you going to church because am I
talking to anybody because when he got
with you you had the same value so he
misses who you used to be somebody got
their head was that for you give God a
praise whoever that was for I just open
up something in your head it’s not
anything like you he doesn’t like your
values it’s not that he doesn’t like
Church church has become the other man
and he feels like you’re cheating on him
and the only way to maintain the
relationship is to give him enough of
what he values time with him that he
doesn’t feel wronged by your faith but
when you come home talking about what
another man said

today everything is about what makes you

but when you really love something you

what you love there is a difference
between lust and love she’s not in love

that’s why in Corinthians Paul says love
sick is not her own is not puffed up law
Solomon says that’s a real mother I’ve
real law will break through race it’ll
break through culture it’ll break
through circumstances real love a break
through hard times adversity and trouble
because real love is never selfish it
may feel selfish it may want to be
selfish but when real love looks at how
that is hurting you real love says
that’s okay let her have the baby I’d
rather go home akin and put my cradle in
a tea excrete my milk for a baby I don’t
have and know that my baby is alive
there for you to cut my baby in two and
Solomon says this is the real mother and
the Texas goes on to say all of Israel
was amazed at his wisdom because he knew
that value is determined by sacrifice

evaluated on the basis of its intrinsic

produce television and movies and things

an evaluation of my company and
intrinsic evaluations is how much are
the assets the building the staff the
amount of money the profits how much how
much are the assets but an intrinsic
value goes beyond tangible assets down
to the strength of the brand the
strength of the brand means for
McDonald’s if you evaluate at McDonald’s
by its assets alone you wouldn’t have
the full value you would have to include
how well-known the brand is what people
think about the brand what what the
perception of the golden arches does

sometimes that is full of restaurants
that are mom-and-pop restaurants they
are not a part of a brand and and they
have to struggle for customers and then
you’ll get to the corner and there will
be a Wendy’s or a Burger King selling

Wendy’s or McDonald’s on it they are
lined up there and that the other
restaurant there’s two or three little
cars so this intrinsic value is the
power of that name of that brand of that
perception how people feel about it
intrinsic value are you following what

love the house and I see how much care
they put into them yes how much money
they put into it

to succeed the devil is going to fight

I could have called ten thousand angels
but that’s not how you win I am the Lion
of tribe of Judah but that’s not how you
win I’m strong enough that when they
came to get me the first soldiers who
came to get him got swallowed up in the
earth backed up and fell dead so I had
never lost control but the way the wind
I’m gonna show you he became obedient
unto death even the death of the cross
and he went as a lamb to his Shearer’s
not as a lion of the tribe of Judah but

but here’s my question that he reminded
me I must ask you if Jesus said to take
up your cross and follow me and his

children gonna grow up in trees
come on to the Lord and you don’t get
Beauty faster come on to the Lord and
experience the joy that’s not the kind
of the called Jesus made Jesus said if
you’re gonna follow me take up your
cross to be like Jesus to be like Jay oh
how I long to be like him if you want to
be like Jesus race across I don’t see
maybe it wasn’t talking about wood
sometimes your cross is standing a
sometimes your cross is working at a job
for you you’re not even getting the pay
that you do but because you believe in
sometimes your cross is loving somebody
who don’t love you back and you keep
giving and giving and giving and they
keep taking and take it and take it and
every time you think about it you
believe whatever makes you believe it so
if you had a child that can’t read or
can’t walk or can’t sit up in the bed
and God couldn’t trust nobody to love
that child but you and every time you
love him you love him and you hurt and
you hurt and you love when you go home
and hold it that’s your cross whatever
that’s the cross you keep showing me
that you’re a Christian about what works
in your life I’m telling you you’re a
Christian about what doesn’t work your
faith is proven by your sacrifice
because you believe in it and it is
killing you but for a higher purpose you
whatever kills your pride whatever makes
you challenge your deepest fear and it
it is your reasonable service I preached
10 years of the church that never broke
100 passionately ministering in the back
woods West Virginia a man that will
speak to nations spent years being
faithful in a storefront you see the TV
I don’t care what they say they make all
kind of accusations you do it for the
money you do it for the frame you do it
for the power you do it for this you do
it for that you can say whatever you
want to because you’re looking at the
success but God sees me driving a 1967
valiant with the floorboard rusted out
going to preach the gospel and God sees
me thumbing up to Montgomery because my
car broke down in the middle

you see the house I’m living in now God
sees me preaching when the lights loft
in my house and I had to go to my mama’s
house the water and I was still
preaching the gospel I don’t care what
you say and I don’t care what you think
and I don’t care what you write because
value real value is determined by
sacrifice and I just want to take away
more than thinking thank you
I just need to take a bit even thinking
there are sacrifice when I was young so
I could walk in my success when I got
older and I just want to thank you in
front of everybody that you did not
forget my labor of love and that you are
of the days that I was nailed to a cross

I was preaching faith when my phone was
off and I used to go to miss a little
boy’s house to get the phone and make a
phone call and I was preaching the
gospel I was preaching the gospel when I
only have one suit and we considered
unclean as a silly that washed it into
the land and they come out of it and I
came home three to the Gulf excuse me
I’m sorry I’m just laughing for bit I
where is your cross where is your cross
where is your faithfulness and your
consistency go ahead and take jokes
tough job or do it with no one else
he’ll do it with no kids he’ll do with
everybody talking about it he’ll do it
with balls all over its body until you
have a cross you have no right to demand
the crown how dare you ask for a cloud

join hands with somebody somewhere in
their life there is a cross it’s not
made out of wood but there’s something
that they endure for greater good they
see all of their friends getting stuff
that they can’t have and doing stuff
that they can’t do and the devil’s
trying to talk them down off the cross
but God said this word to tell you to
who Joe says though he slay me yet shall
I trusted you gave up what you could
have had where you couldn’t live what
you could have drove because you
believed in something bigger than
yourself you’re gonna walk away from
them kids but you stayed there raised of
it what other women were running around
looking for me and he was going home and
helping yo kids is homework if you look
stupid but God’s gonna honor your
sacrifice it may not come with your
water but hang on in the end I did it
for years when it looked like it didn’t
work I did it for years and years and
years and I probably forgot me but God
does not forget sacrifice I don’t know
whether he remembers dance it or not but
God does not forget sacrifice but I’ll
say God is not unjust to forget your
labor of love in that she has sacrificed
and you served squeeze that hand you
know hold it he would not come down from
the cross just to save himself you think
you’re a Christian cuz you’re watching
me on TV and you think you’re Christian
because you’re screaming on this
broadcast or you think you’re Christian
because you came to church and you sing
in the choir that’s not what makes you a
Christian you’re a Christian because
you’ve got a cross you’re a Christian
because you’re a living sacrifice your
nail to something that makes you squirm
your nail to something gives you pain
and your nail to something that makes
you bleed and you still praise God and
you still serve God and you steal
lift your hands and De Stijl watch of

been faithful though you’ve been hurting
and you’ve been faithful though you’ve
been bleeding yeah you’ve been faithful

have room enough to let us not be weary
it will go ahead for ye shall reap in
due season if you’re faint not squeeze
that hand the hand you’re holding it’s
carrying a cross you don’t even see the
hand you’re holding is enduring some
things that you don’t know anything
about the hand you’re holding it’s given
when it hurts servant when it’s not
convenient or the hand you’re holding
needs to be and they’re called to me and
they’re convicted because they’ve been
too selfish too long too focused on your
flesh now I beseech you therefore
brethren by the mercies of God that he
presents yourself your body a living
sacrifice why are you doing everything
you big enough to do and one God to
bless you anyway God is waiting on you
to sacrifice I don’t like it and it
gives me pain and I don’t like it it’s
not me I don’t like you to get someone
there I gotta be myself shut up go to
your cross
it’s reasonable if he went to his cross
it’s reasonable that you would go to
your squeeze that hand and whisper
prayer because it’s not easy to be a living sacrifice
