DIY $15 Big Daddy Power Gauntlet Armor!

hey everyone this is my homemade power
gauntlet I’d like to prove upon this
design and not all kinds of gadgetry but
for now this is just the foundation
there’s tons of additions I can add like
a flamethrower mod similar to the Big
Daddy from Bioshock or maybe a souped up
battle ready version of my Iron Man 3
stun glove there’s lots of possibilities
with all this surface area to work with
and today I’ll be showing you a quick
tutorial for this project you’ll need
about 12 inches of 4 inch solid
corrugated drain pipe a leather welding
glove nitrile earrings I would get the
assortment pack you’ll need 3
polyethylene couplers for your 4 inch
solid corrugated pipe that’s these here
that’s going to serve as your cuff for
your glove you’ll need lots of hot glue
and also some tin snips and a heat gun
for forming the plastic first we want to
start with the main bulk of this build
which is the corrugated drainage pipe I
disassembled my gauntlet just to show
you guys some comparisons and
measurements you want to start by
cutting out your main portion by
measuring from the tip of your middle
finger to about halfway between your
wrist and your elbow so once that’s cut
out you’re going to start to measure all
of your fingers and make a diagram just
by tracing your hand on a piece of paper
just for making it easier and use a
ruler to measure out the length of each
finger then you want to take your ruler
and lay it on top of your pipe nice
thing about this ruler and any ruler in
general will probably work is that it’s
the same length as the actual fingers
for the gauntlet
so you don’t have to worry about your
width it’s already in you just have to
trace around the ruler it’s fine if
they’re the edges aren’t rounded at
first you can always go back and improve
that the thing that’s most important is
adding about three sixteenths of an inch
in between each finger that’s going to
allow you to have a lot of mobility
because you’re going to be adding a
glove and some rings it’s going to if
you have each finger right up against
each other it’s not going to make it
very comfortable and flexible glove so
measure out all your fingers trace them
on there with a pencil or sharpie
pencils probably better just because
it’s easier to make corrections then you
will have to a little bit tricky you
have to make your thumb portion so your
fingers are easy the thumbs a little bit
complicated because you actually have to
go from the top to the side and you have
to cut out a little bit of a V for the
thumb portion now once you have all of
those measurements cut out you’re going
to have still the other side of the pipe
just imagine it continuing straight up
so you’re just going to use your tin
snips to cut out to about halfway
between your palm if you want to have
about half of your palm exposed and half
of it there this is going to give you a
nice surface area for additions and
modifications in the future you can add
a flashlight here and add a laser you
can add a flamethrower attachment
whatever but this is going to be the
bulk of your power glove so you can
start adding gadget tree in the future
nice thing about this material is it’s
very easy to reinforce portions because
it has this corrugation so stacking and
adding glue as a adhesive is very simple
you can see here I added some extra to
the thumb area to make a little bit
wider and also here on the sort of
knuckle portion I added some extra just
for reinforcement now the bottom is a
little bit tricky you might have to play
around with this this material is very
affordable I think for
ten feet of this pipe it was like $7 you
can make like pretty much you can make
ten gloves if you wanted to so if you
mess up the first couple ones that’s
fine but the main the best tips that I’m
giving you are to add about 3/16 of an
inch between each finger because at
first I made mistakes with that and
everything else is just however you want
it to look for this poem portion this is
actually three layers you have the left
and the right that are overlapping onto
the middle the middle actually kind of
looks like a V coming down like this and
these other flaps I glued and placed on
top and made sure that it was pressed
somewhat against my palm and it creates
a little bit of an anchor right here so
my hand doesn’t slip through and it
works well with these o-rings which also
worked very well because you’re adding
the o-rings and they fit in these little
these little wells here and anchors in
place very easily so now that you have
that you can move on to the cuff of the
gauntlet this is very simple you take
one of these couplers and then you put
it on you’re going to probably go to
about the second corrugation area right
here and just so that it’s nicely
anchored because it has these little
teeth here and that’s going to allow you
to have mobility and then to build it up
but to make it a little bit more
impressive looking in badass you can add
a third one in a second you cut the
second one in half it’s going to create
sort of a trapezoid shape you can see
these angles are sort of tapering a
little bit thinner towards the top
that’s fine that’s actually useful if
you’ve seen my buzzsaw gauntlet video
that’s very important because it locks
in place with the ducting that I’m using
and I’ll show you guys that in a second
how you can add this to other much
larger builds so basically you cut one
of these portions in half
glue it in place you’re going to have
this little triangle little trapezoid
missing take your third one just eyeball
it as you need to you can do some
measurements using I mean it’s pretty
it’s pretty easy you just you really
can’t mess it up it’s it’s not going to
be perfect but that’s fun so just add
that in place to take up that portion
and then you would just add it like so
on – and then we’ll just sort of clip in
place you could hear that
and now it’s uh nice and it actually see
these things right here if you wanted to
remove them these little tabs here this
could go farther this could go up your
arm even farther but you’d have to
continue to push it through this
cylinder here so that’s up to you
there’s lots of you can create an entire
arm sleeve but I just thought this
looked cool because I was using it for
another application with the buzzsaw
gauntlet the nice thing about this is
it’s still mobile so if this is anchored
into something you can still turn your
hand and I’ll show you guys if you
haven’t already seen this video be sure
to check it out so I’ll put this on
first it’s really simple you just wiggle
your fingers in and these o-rings here
create a nice surface a nice it feels
very secure on my hand basically this is
the buzzsaw gauntlet fortunately there
is a fuse that burn out so it’s not
working at this time but this was more
or less a prototype to see what I could
do with these ducting portions that I
got from a resale shop for scrap metal
basically this is what I have here and
this creates like a nice Anchorage point
for future modifications what I did is I
added this motor
and since I have since its trapezoid
shaped it gets locked in here and then I
have this trigger and this handle and I
could just turn it on with this backpack
that I made that runs off of a car
battery and an AC to DC converter and
the solar panel to help charge it over
time and so I had this like sort of
gauntlet buzzsaw buzzsaw gauntlet so in
the future who knows maybe I’ll make
like a big Daddy drill or the
electrocutioner gauntlets or something
lots of possibilities when you have a
nice foundation for the rest of your
gadgetry so that’s why I’m showing you
guys this video so that maybe you can
make your own motive modifications and
sort of improve it whichever way you’d
like so if you guys like this video
leave a comment below give me some
suggestions on what you’d like to see
done with this in the future
obviously I’m thinking something along
the lines of an electricity mod like I
said the beginning a battle-ready
version of my Iron Man 3 stun glove but
because I’m using a leather glove it’s
insulated from heat and electricity so
there’s lots of possibilities so if you
