How To Improve Relationships

so today I wanted to speak to you about
a very interesting relationship between
the mentor and the mentee it could be a
father-son relationship parent-child
relationship coach player relationship
it’s a very interesting relationship and
one of the reasons why I wanted to speak
about this because in your career the
most friction you’ll ever have any one
of us will ever have typically is a
mentor mentee relationship
why because usually no one challenges
the child more than the parent you know
no one challenges the mentee more than a
mentor or the father with the son or the
coach and a player
and you know any time a challenge takes
place you know sometimes we tend to take
it personally and we don’t like it too
much you know we respond to it in
different ways and the best description
I ever got on the mentor mentee
relationship was I was having a
conversation with a good friend of mine
past remind and one of his friends told
him this about father-son relationship
and I realized this has a lot to do with
any relationship with an authority and
somebody that’s the student a
teacher-student relationship he said
every father and son almost every
relationship father and son goes through
three different phases one of the phases
he talked about is the son first
idolizes the father you know anytime you
got a mentor whoever you’re working with
the first thing we do is we idolize my
daddy’s the graced he’s just amazing
he’s the most powerful person in the
world I love my mommy I love my coach I
love my teacher they’re just such great
people and then it comes to face where
the challenge is gonna take place and
that’s when what we do is we demonize
our parents our leaders our coaches our
mentors and finally what we do is we
realize no one is perfect we humanize
them see the kicker is to get to the
face of humanizing as quickly as
possible so my challenge to you today is
to start working on humanizing the
relationships you have with your mentors coaches teachers parents
