and so because I am going to create
tomorrow morning I have been going out a
lot to say goodbye to everyone
um last night I got very very drunk so
I’m not feeling too good today when was
the last time you got drunk Allister
drunk drunk like but your face
struggling yeah uh no it was last last
weekend I went out drinking it was a
lovely sunny day in the park I mean a
friend we’re drinking and we got very
very very very
it’s amazing what did you drink I can’t
remember so I think I was very very
drunk last night I was drinking lots and
lots of cider my son see I I don’t I’ve
never I’ve never done cider never tried
cider
never in my life if it doesn’t it
doesn’t sound like a tasty drink to me
it’s lovely drink cider gets you very
drunk and you really bad that’s
gross there’s nothing but notice how I
said I have never drank cider and I used
which tents I’m sure you’re already
thinking of it it’s present perfect yes
so if you don’t know if you’re not
already aware and present perfect is the
tents we use me that way is the tents we
use to talk about experiences we have no
specific time or no specific details in
our past so if you don’t use a specific
time or specific details you can use
present perfect so for example this sky
you do the French voice best bulge or I
will fall say mum but what’s he saying
oh why would he go to Paris though like
I just drew him he lives there doesn’t
he
um okay well let’s imagine I am this
time I just didn’t think people think
that was the Eiffel Tower so do French
with him yeah so it’s me and I can say I
have been to Paris if you’re new to
present perfect the ground at the forum
is we’ve have or has has for he/she/it
and the past participle they go together
that makes prison perfect and again we
use it for not specific times and
if we don’t give extra details with that
but we’ll go into that a bit more later
and the other thing is with prism
perfect we use a certain certain few
words and to describe certain time
references and that’s kind of going back
to our conversation about the cider
let’s imagine four bears are in a pub
the first bear says okay guys after
three we’re down the shots good bit of
vocabulary down down the shot um I don’t
know in any other language so I’m not
going to show off any language skills
but yes to down your shot you have a
shot and very quick it’s finished or
just to finish it very very quickly so
he says that after three so wait for me
1 2 3 down your shot a shot is that the
small one and the next one the Panda
says oh you wanted me to wait sorry I la
ba bla drunk it what do you think that
he says there if you look is glass if
you look at his glass it’s empty there’s
no drink in there so what do you think
he said I’ve drank it no one’s
Samantha I think also there’s a delay on
this is it already
oh thanks yeah yeah I
I’ve already drunk it why did you say
already well you’ll notice he said okay
wait after three will will down the
shots so he wants him to wait he thinks
after three they will all drink the shot
but for him he wants to say well
actually I know you’re expecting later
but um I’ve already drunk it it’s
happened it’s finished it’s in the past
before you expected it so already it’s
four before you expect something before
before something is expected the next
guy
what kind of bear is that he’s going to
be a choir there but they’re marsupials
when I even bears so the next bit is a
koala because the koala bear he’s a good
friend he didn’t he didn’t drink
anything so okay after three whittled
down our shots with the koala bear he’s
not like the panda bear the panda bears
a dick let’s be honest the koala bear no
don’t worry I haven’t drunk it what do
you think
you
just write your comments in the box
below is it yet yeah I have a really
good student here yeah I haven’t drunk
it yet so we’ve yet why do we use yet
well already
remember it’s before something’s
expected before an expected time yet
what do we think I haven’t drank it yet
well we know that um he hasn’t drunk it
especially he hasn’t drunk it already
but what do we think he’s going to drink
it in the future
right yeah for that reason it hasn’t
happened but it’s going to happen in the
future but that reason he is yet yeah so
basically yet it hasn’t happened but it
is going to happen maybe part of a plan
or maybe you want something to happen so
the last bear is that when a bear or
another marsupial now he’s a
bear kind of bear and he’s a bear grylls
bellows that’s his name
okay so the last bed the last bear he’s
saying and I’ve remembered I’m a
lightweight another bit of good
vocabulary lightweight lightweight is
what we call when someone they can’t
drink very much
and they may be after two after two
drinks they’re drunk they’re on the
floor they’re sleeping that’s why he
looks very very worried yeah so he can’t
drink much he’s going to get drunk very
very easily
yeah so um back to this I remembered he
wants to say a very short time in the
past what do you think that word would
be is it just yeah it’s just what yet to
say a very very short time in the past
we use just and a lot a lot of people
get these kind of confused especially
already and just and and yet with
another one with this one for example he
could say um
yeah he could say for example I’m still
waiting to drink when we use still means
it hasn’t finished yet
oh we forgot this one remember we’ve
just it’s a short time in the past yeah
so you want to say a short time in the
past just you want to say it hasn’t
happened but it will happen in the
future yet and for already remember it’s
you want to use this word when someone
expects something to happen later but
actually it happened it’s finished it
already happened so to practice this we
have a little bit of a test for you
something I’m forgetting yes with these
ones we could have a few options um I’m
sorry
there we are
yeah we have a few options with this
some people will say and can we use ah
I’m a light-weight okay someone can’t
read this
you can blame Tom he wrote it too small
it’s a lightweight print edition
lightweight stress on that lightweight
see I’m a lightweight I can’t drink very
much one or two beers or and I’m
finished and sleeping on the floor yeah
so how can we use these words well
they’re not all the same and for example
we’ve yet I cannot use it in a positive
sentence we don’t is that yeah with yet
in 24 a negative sentence or a question
so for example I haven’t drunk it yet
our first bear he could say as a
question with this he could say have you
drunk it yet remember yet would be at
the end of a sentence and this is where
it’s different with the other ones
you’ll notice with just and already and
still usually not all the time but
usually and it sounds better if they’re
just before the main verb so we’ve got
it between the auxiliary have and the
main verb remember in this case would be
remembered because it’s a past
participle so yeah yet just with
negatives and with questions
um just we don’t really use that with
positives
not to say it’s impossible for a
negative for example I haven’t just
finished my homework I did it last night
in other words not a short time ago a
long time ago thank you Tom
already how come you use that anyone can
give us the answer there’s no things we
the disease is fine it’s good I’m with
already remember it’s before the main
verb here between the auxilary and the
main boat also we would only use it did
you mainly in positives and questions
as my assistant is writing thank you
yeah so it could be I’ve already drunk
it he could react to this saying have
you already drunk it you bastard I’m not
my friend anymore
so let’s practice these with that with a
bit of a test ok what’s your day back
Jay can we all see that I think so yeah
move you closer there we go now we
cannot see so ah yeah so the first one
imagine a teacher in a class she’s
giving a test now she’s giving her test
to the student and she says you have
three hours begin so she expects that in
three hours
this test will be finished three hours
is a long time and but then if we
imagine that actually
for this guy it didn’t take three hours
it took five minutes from three o’clock
to five plus three it’s just it’s it’s
nothing it’s no time at all so since you
have three hours begin he wants to say
well I’ve finished after five minutes so
what do you think her reaction would be
I’m going to see if anyone has the
answer just type the answer in the box
what goes there Emily
well done already
yeah excellent well done yeah finished
already
she thinks it’s three hours he finishes
five minutes before she expected it so
the next one let’s have a look at the
next one so imagine you’re with your
friends one friends is this you guys
should see the Avengers movie and the
other guy well he can say two things
maybe the first one mmm no I’ve seen it
I saw it today now today would be a very
very short time in the past right so
what would he say in that situation
again I’m expecting you to give me the
answer Molly either you think so you
ready you think just huh huh maybe maybe
how about any other situation let’s go
by process of elimination and the other
one you could say no I seen it I saw it
two weeks ago
now this is the common mistake people
make he thinks you should see you should
see The Avengers movie in the future but
he wants to say well actually not in the
future it’s finished in the past so both
could be which one both of them are fine
for which word just already what do you
think
yeah both of them could be already or
then both of them could be already but
one of them is just one of them can only
be just the other one cannot which one
is just I’ve seen it I saw it today or
no I’ve just seen it I saw it two weeks
ago which one sounds good with just the
first one yeah
well done good excellent this one just
this is a common problem I usually hear
this problem with students they could
say for example and I’ve already been to
the park and at the weekend they use it
too commonly when we say already it’s
really just to say well it’s before the
expected time so when we use just very
very short time in the past today I’ve
just seen it today but two weeks ago
that’s not a short enough time so he
would say already
okay a few people have mentioned they
can’t see the video and that’s because
you haven’t clicked play why am I
telling you this you can’t see me okay
at the last one would be this one
imagine a guy he’s waiting at the cinema
who do you think he’s waiting for of
course he’s waiting for a beautiful girl
to come meet him have a romantic evening
at the cinema some food but this guy
he’s not lucky he’s on the phone to his
friend crying I’m waiting she hasn’t
come what do you think the first the
first missing word is still welcome yeah
I’m still waiting remember it hasn’t
finished also notice that’s present
continuous so they don’t have to
necessarily be with present perfect this
one she hasn’t come what
well done Chella gone
long time no see yeah she hasn’t come
yet
absolutely well done and so I’m going to
keep looking I’m going to keep looking
at the chat window if you want to try
some sentences or maybe if you write it
on our Facebook I’ll correct you and I’m
going to hand you over to Tom who’s
going to teach you some more vocabulary
let me put the bird Oh Tom’s not strong
enough to put the board up himself you
see that yeah okay so as Alice
dimensioned
if you have light weight so I’m a
lightweight it means that I cannot drink
a lot of alcohol maybe two beers and I
might owe drugged so
and also to down a drink is to drink an
alcoholic drink very very quickly so
down it Oh like that
and finally what it all the way to drink
did I yeah and to do her a do shots are
very small glasses and you pour just a
little bit and you like that cue down
buh-buh-bah spirits are things
whiskey things like ROM and vodka
horrible things to do so these are
different levels of drunkenness we have
this guy he has not drunk
he has not drunk a lot so he is sober
when you are sober it means you haven’t
drunk maybe one but you don’t feel drunk
next one maybe if you have two drinks
three drinks and your head starts to get
a bit dizzy
you are tipsy so when you’re tipsy
you’ve had two beers maybe three beers
and you start to feel the effects of
alcohol and pronunciation is tipsy so
tipsy sober tipsy next one now you’ve
had four beers maybe five beers and then
you start to feel pissed so you say I’m
pissed I feel pissed and then pissed
goes on too drunk so not I have drunk
you safe I am drunk I feel drunk
I’ve had five beers and I feel quite
drunk that’s when you start singing
songs and you like the liver and up here
is when you drink seven maybe more you
start losing count of how many drink
you’re drunk and you can be hammered
and wasted so sober maybe one beer or
not lot beers tipsy is when you’ve had
two beers or three beers pissed is when
you’ve had four beers five beers and you
start to feel the effects drunk is when
you have six beers seven beers hammered
and wasted you can have there are lots
and lots of words to say you are very
drunk so you can have hammered wasted
mullard piss drunk and so I am so
drunk I’m I’m hammered I’m wasted
I’m pissed drunk that’s my favorite one
piss drunk and Mullard so but this one
you can’t see can’t see above wasted you
have mullet pissed drunk hammered wasted
mullet we say mullet
what if pass out pass out is just we
could say if you pass out you black out
just gone so there’s not really that
many you can just say pass out or you
could say a blackout blackout is when
you cannot remember you just get so
drunk you can’t remember so sober tipsy
pissed drunk hammered wasted Mullard
and pissed drunk I think that’s
everything
Elsa okay so I’m also there’s one point
about that with
some of you may have noticed that or you
might have been thinking wait this
doesn’t mean angry well in American
English yes and British English we don’t
really use that to mean angry yeah in
American English it means angry but
British English it means drunk and as we
all know British English is much better
so and we’re going to we’re going to see
what you what you would like to learn so
if there’s anything that you would like
us to teach right now then you can tell
us tell us in the what are you
right in the box oh why not this
is bleep ahh my men were kissing
friends say a lot of times yes
that’s true
yeah active and passive we actually have
a we have a video of that coming next
week and we have a big Grammer video
you’ll see it on our YouTube this lesson
to you will be able to find it on
YouTube I think within within an hour of
us finishing um yet within an hour
you’ll be able to find this lesson on
YouTube watch again if there was
something you missed and and yet if
there’s anything that you want to learn
type it in the box oh thank you later
yes piss me off it’s a really good it’s
a really useful expression this has it
has a lot of meanings this generally
means to pee
urinate but like we’ve seen we’ve got
two meanings already pissed in the UK
means drunk in the USA angry but what do
you in Glen Innes you ah now pissed off
is very different that one to give you a
clue
how does he look happy
probably not yeah so when we used pissed
off it basically means the exact same
thing as angry but actually that’s the
same both UK and American English the
way we can use this is like for example
mmm
imagine you have a friend oh I can show
you on top if you have a friend and you
want to say that’s good to say that
sentence you’d say imagine that’s Tom
that’s me
you can say a few ways in present how do
you think I can say it
for example Ally clear this
in prison continuous alley is this thing
me off so piss off is a phrasal verb
yeah so Ally is pissing me off
ally is another word for piss off is to
annoy someone Ally is pissing me off if
I kept doing that yeah that would that
would piss me off
fine Oh like ah off this is
stronger and I assume you’re writing
up up that’s a good one
folks up it can you okay so up
sorry would be well one meaning could be
that one yeah you’re so so drunk but oh
my god I’m up but can we not
drugs as well so it’s not yeah exactly
it could not only drink could be drugs
as well yeah oh the other way we use
this is if you basically ruin the
situation and let’s see for example
imagine the guy in a test the guys doing
a test any things are no I I wrote the
complete wrong thing I and made so many
mistakes and if this whole test is ruin
it’s completely all wrong you could say
I this test up again a phrasal
verb we can separate them so up
that’s the phrasal lobe we can separate
them with the test of course that could
be at the end i up this test
that’s okay to cure it
you
No and you we wouldn’t use that in any
kind of sexual way and no to up is
only basically to make mistakes or to be
very drunk or on drugs very crazy yeah
so and we’re going to finish there I
hope you’ve enjoyed our lesson remember
and if any of you are from Korea then
