yeah so which part you from I come from
Melbourne so write down the southern end
of Australia about as far away from
London as you can possibly get yeah the
other side of the world in which is
young but very exciting Emma’s visiting
England and it’s a lovely rainy day very
English day yeah but you know this is
the true England so this is what I came

so in this video I am going to give Emma
five British slang phrases words and
phrases and she has to guess what they
mean and they’re a little bit obscure so
I think it’ll be quite fun it’s a really
hard one for me then yeah and after that
you can check out the video on my
channel where I’ll be testing Lucy on
some Australian slang okay so I’ve got
my list of British slang words and
phrases on my phone no cheating so what
does it mean if I say Gordon Bennett as
soon as you start Gordon Bennett I think
of Pride and Prejudice and I think of
Elizabeth Bennett and so I have no idea
oh we have to get your message out there
and when would you use Gordon Bennett
this is like like golly oh nice means I
blimey
oh yeah okay the show surprisal shot
okay so in context it’s like something
surprising happened and you’d say oh god
I can’t believe that okay all right

right the next one is a consular and I
do actually use it a little bit I think
that that means something like I don’t
believe you okay so give me give me a
situation ah so if you told me that all
British people are hilarious I’d say
codswallop ah codswallop means nonsense
or rubbish so if you don’t believe what
someone’s saying you could say

phrasal verb and it is to blow off ah to
blow off something means to like if you
were mmm there’s a carefully meaning
that there are a couple of innings okay
so the one that I think it is if you can
I describe it if you blow off someone it
means that you you make a plan to meet
them and they know you are I in it for
one meeting there is one definition to
blow someone off is to make a plan and
then let them down or just cut out so
much yeah yeah but I’m talking about a
real sorry meanings okay to blow off
some there’s no so there’s no object
actually oh you just blow off oh to get
angry
no nervous blow up isn’t mmm okay you

not nosh-nosh wash so listen I won’t say

if it’s just food food if I say should
we go grab some nosh it is quite a posh
way of saying it

to get some expensive food okay yeah
