How To – chop butternut squash, with Jamie Oliver’s mate Pete

I’m going to show you how to cut up a
butternut squash very first thing you do
before you’re near the squash is make
sure that underneath your chopping board
is a damp piece of cloth or kitchen
paper that stops the board moving when
you’re working on it very important so
the first thing take your squash and a
sharp heavy chopping knife and chop the
end off turn it around and chop the
other end off and then chop the squash
in half at the middle here make sure
that your fingers are way out of the way
of the noise at all times there’s your
two powers of spot next thing you do is
chop them in half vertically down the
middle bottom half it’s got a lot of
seeds in it so we need to scoop those
out so we do that with a spoon like that
let’s create the seeds and any sort of
loose bits like that
okay
and she squashed basically prepared no
next step its turn the pieces over place
them flat on the board where they’re not
going to move and then again making sure
your fingers are well out of the way cut
across into chunks for roasting and
there’s your squash ready to roast
