How To – assemble mango for salad from 30-Minute Meals

hi I’m Georgie I’m from Jamie’s butene
and I’m going to show you how to pair
mango for salad so first we’re going to
peel the mango so for this you want a
speed peeler or potato peeler works
great I’m turning it round I’m peeling
off in big strips you don’t want any of
the green bits that’s quite bitter so so
you can start seeing that lovely yellow
flash keep going
we’re going to cut the mango into long
strips and I’m gonna be putting it in a
lovely Asian style salad with bean
sprouts and coriander but you could just
cut it this way for a fruit salad and
have it as a sweet or savory it’s just a
generic way of cutting your mango
mangoes have a stone down the middle
they’re not like peaches or problems and
they’ve got an actual stone but it’s
runs down the middle so get the mango
like this and then trays but just use
your knife to guide you and cut the
cheek away as you can feel there that’s
sort where the stones start just there
so turn the mango over and do the other
cheek as well and you can cut the flesh
off the stone so just like that this is
quite firm mango feels a bit wide but
just be careful and then we’re just
gonna cut it into long strips like this
and you can cut them again if you want
your mango pieces a bit thinner like
that or just have a variety of chunks
and sizes be nice as well
right and then we’ve got our stone here
and there’s still a little bit of flesh
on there so hold it up and then just cut
away from the stone so hold it up right
and use the stone as a guide so as you
can see there that’s starts curving
around now you want to you know get the
most out of your mango so keep carving
away and stop about there that’s fine
you can discard that and you know just
chop however you like to all sort of
erratic shapes and sizes I have some
chunky bits as well and then what I’m
going to do now is just add it to a bowl
for the bean sprouts and picked
coriander leaves I’m just going to add
up my add my um my strips of mango like
so and there we go and I’ve got some
chopped red chili just for a little bit
of a kick put that in there as well left
the season and toss that all together
and then this particular recipe I’ve
toasted some cashew nuts with them just
dry roasted them a little bit of oil and
a bit of honey I’m just going to add
back to our salad and then dress it with
some lime juice and sesame oil
I’m just gonna make a little dressing
I’m going to be these little bit of lime
my squeeze of lime
a little bit of soy sauce a bit salty
sweet the honey nuts and a drizzle of
sesame oil as well gorgeous and just mix
it one more time make sure everything
gets coated the acid and the oil all the
flavors and there you go how to pair
mango for a delicious salad
