so let me tell you what it’s like to be
a Jamie at home consultant first of all
if you’re a fun-loving outgoing person
you love people and you love our
beautiful product then you’ll fit into
our family really really well at the
moment there’s 3,600 consultants around
the whole of Great Britain in Southern
Ireland and well why don’t you listen to
some of them and see how it’s changed
their lives
I basically got started because I just
wanted to have a little bit of an
interest make a little tiny bit of money
I wasn’t actually looking for a job I
always felt I would be you know at home
and looking after the children and
possibly one day returning to something
I got involved with Jamie at home purely
because my brother announced he was
getting married in Australia and I
already am a beauty therapist and but
yeah there’s no way I would have ever
been able to afford to get to Australia
unless I did some something extra Jamie
at home is my full-time job and it
actually provides everything that myself
and my two teenagers at home need and
the roof overhead the food on the table
Jamie at home well it’s all about the
bringing together of people it’s a fun
business created by farm people with
products that are created by excited
artisans and designers with a huge
involvement obviously from Jamie himself
we’ve got an amazing opportunity for
thousands of people across the country
to join us see the parties that we do at
Jamie at home are first and foremost
probably a social event so I think that
often people wonder are we actually
going out to work because we have such a
good time we’re giving women the
opportunity to get together and have a
couple of hours with their friends glass
of wine but also do some retail therapy
what we actually do is we have a hostess
who invites your friends and then we
come with the products and talk about
them and show them the host gets points
that she gets to spend and so for every
pound spent the host gets four points
it’s a big incentive to do a party I
certainly would there’s lots of gifts
for the guests we play games and quite
frankly it’s two hours of great fun
people are very warming when you come
into their house and I think people
actually want you to relax and enjoy the
evening as much as they want to we
always bring Jamie with a strawberry
party which always create specific
giggle noise and he does a different
recipe for each month people really like
that because it’s something completely
different
the new consultants you do have cue
cards that you can even stand and hold
so it just gives you confidence that you
you know if you don’t know so much about
product a cue card will tell you about a
product I don’t think you need any sales
experience whatsoever or experience in
direct sales because of the support that
we offer we gently ease you into the
business and we do that through your
initial training and your first few
rehearsal parties I thought okay well I
can dip my toe in the water I can try a
few and if I like it brilliant and and
if I kind of feel I’m at my comfort zone
too much and I don’t enjoy this then I
knew that I could to keep the wonderful
kit but that was 18 months ago and it’s
the one tool business to be part of or a
thoroughly enjoy it I get a lot of lift
from the team from all the girls that
work within the team around me we try to
vary it and give lots of different
trainings for consultants to be able to
come see which is obviously all free our
time is given to them to help them to
build their businesses don’t need skills
I have to say because from me not coming
from a sales background at all I had
help
every single step along the way you know
with managers looking after you
they always there at the other end of
the phone I think probably the greatest
support is knowing that you’re
self-employed but you’ve got a couple of
strong arms around you all the time your
immediate managers and the people in
your up lining in that business but also
the big arm of the company around you
all the time as well which i think is
really important to people the marketing
tools that Jamie at home offer are
fabulous for a very very small cost you
can start up your own business and it’s
so easy to be able to get your hands on
the stationery and material in a very
cost-effective way we have the best of
everything with regards to
you know free host rewards free postage
and Great Commission structure very
little expenses to come out of that so
you actually are earning the money that
you are rather than it being eaten away
we at Jamie at home offer our
consultants now the opportunity to have
their own personal websites within our
business which is great because it means
that they can take full advantage of the
e-commerce shop and can collect extra
sales along the way that’s a great way
to add extra income when I first started
as a consultant to give an idea I was
probably earning about five hundred
pounds a month at the moment I’m
probably taking him about 1,200 to 1,300
a month for a role that I have complete
control over I think it’s important that
you’ve got the flexibility to have a
work-life balance and that your children
you don’t feel like your children are
missing out you can choose to do four or
five six parties a week you can choose
to do one week you know going out eight
or ten times a month for two hours is
not work getting on that train every day
at 7:30 in the morning going up to
London coming home at 7:00 at night when
you have three children five days a week
that’s work whatever happens in your
life and whatever life throws at you you
can step it up or step it down or
quicken it up and slow it down depending
on what’s happening in your life at that
time
first and foremost my role is to be mum
but it’s it’s my social time and really
when you’re at a party working you don’t
feel like you’re working and at the end
of the night when you walk away with
some customer order forms thinking yep
I’m going to go for that on the system
and I’ve had a good party tonight it’s
the best lift Jamie at homes made a
massive difference to my life just
beacause for instance Christmas last
year I didn’t have to ask my husband for
a penny I pay for all my own personal
grooming like hair and nails none of
that has to come out of the family
budget I can spend all day with the kids
I’m certainly there to do the school run
I’m certainly there to drop him off I’m
there for their assemblies all the
important things that I can do with my
kids I can do but still earn a great
living and have a real fun time every
year Jamie at home launches an annual
VIP trip its five-star trip luxuries VIP
all the way we’ve just had a wonderful
trip to st. Lucia and we’re off to
Arizona close to my hometown in June but
I have to say the one event that I think
all of us love the most is Pimm’s and
pizza we are invited to Jamie’s home in
Essex and Jamie spends the whole
afternoon with us just being Jamie
sitting around chatting to us chickens
are running around I just think that’s
really really special and we’ve had
dinner with Jamie quite a few times in
different Italians around the country we
have on the the fridge a very proud
moment where mummy is standing next to
Jamie Oliver and the children regularly
say Oh mommy you’re famous but then we
have Jamboree where everyone can go
everybody within the business comes
together for the day to celebrate
achievements Jamie’s spent
majority of the day with us last year
and also played the drums last year
which was rather exciting it’s weird how
a little trip out with Jamie or
something like that can get you fired up
it does it does once people have joined
us their confidence has grown they’ve
become very sociable people everyone has
to double and triple their Christmas
card list and if you’re considering
joining Jamie at home I’d stop
considering it that’s it I would join
for a four party commitment and a 400
pound kit and literally I’m sure any one
of us have four friends that would say
yes to a party straightaway I left my
business to start from scratch which is
a big leap of faith and but it’s been
the best thing I’ve ever done to be
honest really the only skills you need
is that you like people and you like
