I’m calling and today we are making
rainbow in tonight so a lot of people
have seen my video on making it tonight
I did about four years ago my channel
blew up my channel a lot of people have
done it since but I’ve never seen
anybody try using food coloring to
change the color of the water itself so
that’s what we got here today we’ve got
five different colors of the rainbow the
challenge is can we make colored water
get it to the right temperature and
freeze it all at once
that is the question what do you think I
think we can I’m here with the king of
random Braille you if anyone can do it
this guy can right here so I couldn’t do
it but I’m pretty confident the first
time I saw the instant it reminded me of
real magical for me like I’m a magician
I do matching stuff and it blew my mind
I thought at first was a trick only how
does it work and then I thought your
video like oh I want to do this well I
did it
and I did not get it bored it was
limited as water or as an icicle every
single time so today as I reacted to be
like figure out this story to be able to
do it one thing I never told you guys
was this trick was inspired when I was
working in the airline’s there was an
airport we used to park it and where the
pilots would put water bottles on the
dashboard of the cockpit and leave them
overnight when we come back in the
morning he’d flicked them and the whole
water bottle would freeze and that began
the journey and to figure out how we
could make this happen out now you know
ha ha ha so here’s the plan guys we just
went down to the grocery store we picked
up a couple of water bottles now these
are just regular water bottles you get
right off the shelf
they haven’t been opened yet but we did
take the labels off yeah not sure if
that takes the magic out but we wanted
you to see the full factory now we also
went to the store and pick up a variety
of food colorings here we can be filling
the water with to create the rainbow
effect so here’s the thinking guys
originally we thought it was because the
water was so pure that it would
crystallize but after I made this trick
work with soda inspired by a vending
machine in Hong Kong I talked maybe we
should try adding food coloring to see
if that would have any effect so here’s
the premise of our experiment today
we’re going to take one of these
beautiful water bottles from the store
unopened we’re going to crack the caps
add 4 drops of food coloring to each one
of these bottles set them in the freezer
for anywhere from three to four hours
because apparently that’s how long your
freezer takes my freezers weak man it
takes 90 minutes months into for our
sample
then we’re going to bring them out pour
them into a tray of crushed ice and see
if we can achieve effect comparable to
an ice rainbow forming right before your
eyes never tried this before not sure
it’ll work we’re putting it to the test
today for you

all we need to do now is just toss these
in the freezer for about three hours and
just them out you could happen

so quick update guys we just check the
bottles and they are starting to freeze
so we’re gonna go grab some and bring
over here and carefully take the tops
top and pour them into this bin of

draw a frozen rainbow almost like
literally

we’ve got the bottles out of the fridge
oh we’ve only got about thirty seconds
because they’re warming back up we have
to be very careful making these tops off
so we don’t accidentally freeze them yep
we’re going to toss this pressure in a
cam pops okay you can see the bottles
are frosty these are actually a well
below the freezing point of water right
now
and yet they haven’t frozen so we’re
going to care for how we’re going to do
it we’re going to take all these bottles
of one I’m trying to pour them together
into the ice you ready yep okay let’s do
this

yo my purple ones not ready no few years
is rocker red was going for man my
purple one no no that looks really
pretty but you have a little Cuba pretty
okay so not sure what happened there Joe
Holland you’ve kicked my trash heap
pretty nice ice castles going on there
mine is a complete fail but look at the
way these colors these colors here like
all the food coloring has stayed in its
respective area yeah no I don’t see say
like if you had somebody peeing in the
pool here and peeing in the pool there
they wouldn’t intermix couldn’t thought
of a better analogy myself thought of
alright so we’ve managed to make
rainbows flush that was a little
anticlimactic you missed longer and I’ll
try again and see we get them growing

the bottle Oh Rose the bottle that’s
crazy it’s going into the bottle oh look
at the purple there just went in my god
I waited about two and chunk up what the
heck that’s amazing crazy
look at those rainbow colors we got how
we got rainbows flush and I suppose if
you added some kind of a flavouring for
this as well I hate three lips you would
literally they have like rainbow bless

yeah that’s definitely slushy I’m it
stick your fingers in it that’s the bar
it’s like go powder tonight there kind
of looks like a snow cone yeah let’s
check this out right here grab it and

hahaha what happened to the orange one
though
no the organ one that didn’t go at all
okay that looked so freakin cool I mean
did you see like literally as the liquid
was hitting the ice it started building
these pillars
I don’t know cool it was the moment it
went back inside the bottle like when
when the ice travels up and now it’s not
coming out anymore and that cuz it
literally then froze the rest of liquid
in the bottle like when it when it hits
that point and it plugs up the mouth
you’re done you’re done you can’t pour
it in which is just stops completely we
have some more bottles we actually put a
few more in for safety I think we can
play around with
grab those before they free let’s do it
and just have a little fun yeah yeah so

I’m gonna put the ice in my hand and
then from there we’re going to pour the
liquid on top of it and see if it builds
a tower as well doesn’t it

our little cross cross contaminate
whatever like what oh my god it’s like
that is so cool galaxy ice the galaxy
idea Oh
oh my god what I’m going to go faster
with it does it go even no no you ever
really flow with it Oh
oh my gosh that is so bad look so my
hand is all my green eat it eat it like
a big bite take a big black dude my hand
is breathing okay I’m going to drop it
are you cold
whoo I like has oh yeah I can’t move my
hand okay look at this so the thing you
notice about this slush is that’s really
what it is
slush it’s yeah it’s like ice but
actually as it’s crystallizing it’s
releasing heat so the narrow the net
effect is that it ends up at 32 degrees
Fahrenheit or zero degrees Celsius so
it’s actually right at the freezing
point that’s why it melt so quickly
isn’t that an interesting fact we even
have a little bit more we can play with
right oh yeah keep doing it doing crazy
idea guys crazy idea what if we stuck an
ice cube in Colin’s mouth yeah and had
him bend over and i pork we build an
icicle castle right out of my mouth

chemical like that because you know and
we’ve got sodium at the chest is
whatever no oh my goodness look at this
one is did we do it legitimately I it’s
