my name is Malik Shaheed for
watchmojo.com and today I sit down with
Charley Winston to talk about his new
album called running still hello let’s
talk about your new album running still
tell us about the vibe the energy it’s a
lot more energy than my last records and
a lot more band orientated it’s quite
there’s a lot of hip-hop influences
there’s a lot of rocky influences
there’s a lot of classical influences
and it’s just kind of mixing up those
things where I’m inspired you in terms
of your songwriting in your approach for
the album I had this huge success with
my first album hobo it put me in front
of a lot of people and it was very
sudden and very exciting seeing all
those all those faces but when I’m the
only person experiencing it it’s very
it’s a lonely place as well so so I
think I wanted to express that those
opposites on this records
bring back that the frame again hello
and just curious why did you entitle
your album running still as I was
describing the only one it’s like a
mixture of emotions between sort of very
big energy you know I just wanted to
create a lot of energy and then the sort
of excitement of life and being
productive and doing stuff all the time
but also the stillness of being alone
again the contrast between playing to
audiences of like between ten and fifty
five thousand people and then coming
back to an apartment of my own you know
it’s huge contrast and and so the
running still is not see more on meaning
it’s having the opposites in the word
and there’s that’s a like I’m running
and then I’m still and then I’m running
I’m still in it and that’s what I’m
really kind of expressing in the record
just talk about your first single hello
long yeah toss little boat what this
thing was about and I saw the
inspiration for that song it’s about
embracing being alone again after you
know I guess it’s you know having a
break up and then being being alone but
embracing it as in terms of its
liberation of being alone and and they
just sort freedom you get from being
alone again but also the sadness you get
so the juxtaposition with the truth and
was it despite from a real life control
a story it’s just a lowness or something
we all have to deal with you know in
life you’re born alone in die alone it’s
the best kind well it’s it’s it’s
talking about and and you know I think
any way anyone can relate to that to
what alone this is really
and immediately seem to be letting loose
enjoying yourself carefree toss what
about the whole direction of the video
we was really trying to express those
two different emotions between the
happiness and the sadness if you come
out of a relationship you’re in this
place again where you have to refined
the habits that make it that can make
you happy and it can be speaking they
can be spontaneous things you know you
can be sort of being this little world
of madness in a way where you’re you’re
on the always on the edge of of both
emotions
