when I look at myself in the mirror I
mean that’s on its own I’m like I feel
something different happening and then
the clothes and sandals and you know the
cloak – the tunic the transformation is
great it’s so fantastic to have all of
this because it helps I was very keen to
get away from the sort of sanitized look
that a lot of the Christ’s films had had
in the past with kind of white robes and
I mean almost glowing yeah and I thought
these people were kind of vagrants
really living off charity living off the
land carrying everything they needed
with them I mean John the Baptist’s has
he lived in nature he lived kind of in
the in the woods and you know he pretty
much just wears animal skins and a loin
cloths and that’s it you know he doesn’t
really have anything else and he travels
around without anything he eats dates
and locusts they would have been in very
grubby patched clothes and I wanted to
have that look and to keep the color
palette for the poor people very muted I
thought that that was much more honest
and I thought also kind of visually
obviously it was much more interesting
to have that look for the poorer people
contrasting with the opulence of the of
the priests and of the the regal power
their roadie and her family and indeed
of the Roman Imperial occupying force
and you know in the colored progression
of like this innocence when Herodias
very young soon when she’s older and
much more set in her ways and super
powerful and the colors are deeper and
richer there’s a real story told
amazing this whole process has been
amazing I always think that you know
once you’ve slept into this stuff you
start standing different whatever could
you put your question money you hold
yourself in a different way there’s
certain elements of what you wear that
changed the way that you are begin to
speak to people this is um this is all
Hessian so it’s to historically accurate
as well it’s very kind of its it this
Judas is one I should probably got best
feel of the Apostles it’s very ornate
and would suggest that he’s slightly you
know slightly more well-off than the
others attention to details amazing and
costume guys have an amazing job as soon
as you put the costume on and you said
what Gillan say at times you don’t even
realise what’s real what’s not because
it is so what is some well done and well
thought out we sort of got a very wide
palette of looks and textures and colors
which i think is it’s good that’s what I
wanted to get that is a line ago some
people have enabled me to do so
