they’re portable sweet deep-fried and oh
so delicious
hi I’m Rebecca Brayton and welcome to
watchmojo.com and today I’ll be showing
you how to make your own glazed
doughnuts for this recipe you’ll need
two quarter ounce envelopes of active
dry yeast a quarter cup of warm water
one-and-a-half cups of lukewarm milk
half a cup of white sugar 1 teaspoon of
salt 2 eggs 1/3 of a cup of shortening 5
cups of all-purpose flour and one quart
of vegetable oil for frying start by
sprinkling the yeast over the warm water
and let that mix your stand for about 5
minutes or until it’s foamy now add the
yeast mixture milk sugar salt eggs
shortening and 2 cups of the flour to a
large bowl and beat it all together for
about 2 minutes on low speed
beaten the rest of the flour about 1/2 a
cup at a time until you see that the
dough is no longer sticking to the bowl
place your dough on a floured work
surface and knead it for about five
minutes or until you see that it’s
smooth and elastic
place your dough in a greased Bowl cover
it and let it stand until it’s doubled
in size you’ll know it’s ready when you
touch it and the indentation stays
now turn your dough out onto a floured
surface and gently roll it until it’s
about a half an inch thick
using a doughnut cutter cut your dough
into rounds and then cover them and let
them stand until they double in size
while your donuts are rising you can
make your glaze for that you’ll need a
third of a cup of butter two cups of
confectioner’s sugar one-and-a-half
teaspoons of vanilla and four
tablespoons of hot water start by
melting your butter over medium heat and
then add the sugar and vanilla and stir
it all till it’s smooth
now remove that from the heat and add
your water one tablespoon at a time
until the glaze is thin but not watery
then set it aside
once you’re done with your glaze heat
your oil in a deep fryer or a
heavy-bottomed pot to 350 degrees
gently place your donuts one at a time
into the hot oil and once they rise to
the surface turn them over and cook them
on each side until they’re golden brown
once they’re ready remove them from the
hot oil and place them on a wire rack to
drain
while the donuts are still hot
dip each of them in the glaze and then
place them back on a wire rack that is
over a cookie sheet covered in wax paper
try serving these playing with a
chocolate glaze or with gem either way
these will make a great snack for
dessert
so delicious
