I’m Daniel pink and I’m gonna show you
how to use some diabolical psychology
for the greater good are you ready there
are a lot of things in our lives that
make us angry so what can we do to calm
people down we found a place with a lot
of angry people an impound lot where
people have had their cars towed and had
to pay to get them back and we decided
to use a color a special color of pink
we painted the entire office in pink
even the telephone and the computer so
when people walk in they got a sea of
pink and you know what it calm them down
colors aren’t just pretty to look at
different colors can get us to behave in
different ways and a great example is
this color that we used drunk-tanked
years ago the Navy had a prison where
they put drunken sailors to try to dry
out a little bit and they found the
sailors were really rowdy once they
painted the jail cells this particular
colors the color acted almost like a
drug we can use the power of color in
our own lives one great example is the
color blue blue is a known appetite
suppressant makes about a fast-food logo
you never see the color blue you see red
yellow you see these very electric
colors that gear people up blue calms
people down it actually makes people eat
more slowly so if you’re trying to eat
less paint your dining room blue use a
blue tablecloth use blue plates maybe
use blue light or imagine the color red
there’s evidence showing that if you’re
wearing red in your photo on an online
dating site you’re gonna get a few more
messages there’s also evidence showing
that if you are wearing red on an
athletic field
the refs going to be slightly more
biased your way so when you think about
this tool kit that you have and change
behavior don’t forget about the color
it’s a lot more powerful than you think
remember these tips should be used only
for good never for evil until next time
