my name is Merlin Griffiths the global
ambassador for Bombay Sapphire and today
we’re going to be looking at a great
19th century drink the Sapphire sanger
II I’m going to start here with a rocks
glass now bear in mind these are simple
drinks by the way I think everybody
should be able to have a go at these are
hoping themselves especially all the
guys out there add that extra 10% to
your garden entertaining this year so we
started with a couple of ounces of
Bombay Sapphire now going to juice half
a fresh lemon and I can’t stress now how
important that is fresh fruits
it makes again all the difference when
you’re talking about that lively flavor
in your drink and of course complement
some of the wonderful botanicals in the
Bombay as well so I’m going to press
that fresh into the glass to that we
shall add a little splash of orange
liqueur just to bring some sweetness and
some extra flavors there we’re building
up our citrus notes okay there we go
just a little splash I’m also going to
add a little squirt of my sugar syrup
very easily made two parts sugar one
part water is quickly heated up on the
pan no I put it in a squeezy bottle here
makes it very handy to dispense you can
keep this in the fridge it’ll last for
up to six weeks so there’s all your
sweetening needs taken care of for your
entertainment tricks now of course lots
of ice and now lastly I’m going to add
just over half an ounce of ruby port
look at that wonderful color coming
through the drink there a little special
touch a cassia spray which I’ve made
myself and I’m so good
there we go put that over the top of the
drink to bring out the real nose of the
of the spices in the gin there and now
we can just ornament it with some fruits
berries and how about a little bit of
greenery so I’ve got here some mint tips
okay want to point out you know the best
way to get the flavor out of the mint
tips here I’m not gonna just put them on
the drink lay them onto our hand give
them a quick clip and you’ll see all
that beautiful mint flavor comes out
there we have ladies and gentlemen a
sapphire sang
please enjoy goes perfect with strong
flavors of pork and lamb
