from trade deadlines to drafts the
hockey analyst never stops hi I’m
Rebecca Brayton and welcome to
watchmojo.com and today we’re speaking
with the hockey insider himself Bob
McKenzie to learn more about the
day-to-day life of this TSN broadcaster
hello my name is Bob McKenzie and you
may know me as the hockey insider at TSN
now I’d love to get some insight of what
your job is like a TSN it’s great and
you know day starts early you gotta read
a lot spend 23 hours just going through
all the papers and on the internet and
and that spend a lot of time on the
phone a lot of time on the blackberry
start to identify in the day what issues
are out there what things are kind of
hanging there well the owns an impact
player and that impact is very very good
and that impact can also be somewhat
negative at time I don’t know that it
ever fully comes out on the air because
it’s hard to translate that for the
average person to what it’s really like
to be behind the scenes but the best i
can do is just try and tell them what’s
going to happen before it happens where
as it’s happening I mean it seems pretty
commonplace for you know fired or
unemployed coaches to be some
commentators what’s it like working with
these guys that you are used to covering
it’s good you know what because you
learn a lot from them I like being on
the panel with John Tortorella like me
on the panel of Peter Laviolette they’ve
got great stories they got great insight
and you learn so much by being around
them it’s a two-way street we because
we’re more familiar with television
we’re giving them a hand as to how to
deal with the lights and the camera and
not be intimidated by all that stuff but
they give us all sorts of insight on
situations they were in and background
on this player of that player or this
team of that team grated John Tortorella
on the panel for half a year but he you
really didn’t like it he’d say the only
part I don’t like about this television
thing is being on television I like
coming in and talking hockey with all
you guys and watching the games and
having the banter back and forth but
when we’re actually have to go on the
end I don’t like that so he you probably
should have skipped TV I wish I could
give you explanation about it I can’t
what is your busiest day of the year oh
boy okay i could pick so many now trade
deadline day
really demanding it’s grueling and in
fact we used to be just one day and now
it’s the three or four days before
almost the entire week before even
though the deadlines over three trades
to still filter through till about five
o’clock and then you gotta wrap the day
up and everything else and because
you’ve worked so hard the week before
that’s pretty exhausting thank you very
much my pleasure
