hi my name is Stephanie and welcome to
watchmojo.com today we’re speaking to
musician David usher about his current
endeavors in the social media milieu so
I know they also have a blog on art
technology in the communications
revolution it’s called cloud ID com and
I was wondering what does the
communications revolution mean to you
I’m very into new media social media and
the way that the technology has changed
the way we communicate interact and it’s
very much moved from push it down your
throat society to us all being little
media engines they get to choose and
also remix and send out content any way
we want I really embraced the new world
social media because I’m interested in
all the tools and I’m interested in the
way the communication is changing us as
individuals and as artists just talking
about the social media in general I mean
is it something that established artists
can benefit more or even people who are
just emerging it definitely works for
established artists but for artists that
are just starting out I don’t think
there are choices anymore whether you
can be involved with social media or not
it’s like saying do you want to be
involved with the telephone you kind of
need the telephone and it’s the same
with social media you need to be on all
these channels in order to get your
message out larger companies that might
be helping you out in the future are not
really going to look at you unless you
have certain things you know everyone is
looking for individuals that have done
it themselves and built their own
following are you released a DVD called
walk don’t run a couple years ago which
is about the process of the album’s
Godhead curves did you have any sort of
reservations because it’s very personal
like you know bringing people into your
life like that no I don’t reservations
about it i mean you know at the time i
made it i was really into making and it
was part of the process of making the
record was making this documentation of
that whole journey the idea of being an
artist is to make things in all sorts of
different genres and just can be
continually working on creative things
well
