suburb of Philadelphia vilanova’s most
famous for its University additionally
i’m an 8th grader at Radnor middle
school located in Wayne Pennsylvania now
I’m going to show you some of the most
famous sights in Philadelphia
Philadelphia nickname the city brotherly
love is a fifth largest city in the
United States this city was the seated
US government from 1790 to 1800 perhaps
one of the most famous founding fathers
of our nation Benjamin Franklin moved to
Philadelphia at age 17 Franklin worked
as an ambassador politician and mentor
and scientist Justin aim view
Independence Hall was the hope of both
the first and second continental
congress this is the building where the
declaration of dependence and
Constitution were signed the liberal
values trust high up in the clock tower
of Independence Hall but in 1876 the bow
was moved out currently the bell lies in
the Liberty Bell Centre in addition to
those monuments Philadelphia’s home to
the National Constitution Center this
museum is dedicated to the Constitution
its ratification and the amendments that
succeeded it right now I’m standing on
the campus of the University of
Pennsylvania and was founded in 1799 in
the nation’s first Universal the
Philadelphia Zoo is a family from
activity in the city the zoo has the
distinction of being the first to in the
United States the Philadelphia Museum of
Art has about 15 20 different exhibits
and is ranked among the top five most
visited art museums in the nation
additionally if you visit Philadelphia
you can watch our baseball team the
Phillies our football team the Eagles
are ice hockey team the flyers or our
basketball team the seventy sixers
if I could be any explorer or world
leader I probably want to be James Cook
his assignment after going to Tahiti was
to find Terra Australis the landform in
southern hemisphere proposed by
Aristotle cook knew there was no
guarantee of success for finding the
continent but only that if he did find
Terra Australis it would impact
geography as they knew it Hooke had no
assurance of finding the continent or
even staying alive but he still went
after with determination
I’ve always been fascinated by ancient
civilizations like the Inca Empire for
example Machu Picchu had only been found
a hundred years ago here I’m banging the
man who explored it have rediscovered a
lost piece of history I think the notion
that the city was lost for 500 years and
the breathtaking view makes me want to
visit the site when I’m there I want to
visit the Incan temple on the sacred
rock a large monolithic stone whose
origins are mystery
study for the DA used tons of atlases
books and blank maps one of the study
tricks I had was to hang up large
laminating maps on the walls of my
bedroom and the guest bedroom whenever I
learn a new fact or missed a question
from one of my preparation books I would
write it on the map by the end of the
week I had things like the
trans-siberian railway or the path of
the Orient upper river John on my map
I can rule the world the first thing I
would do is try to cut down the carbon
footprint we are putting on earth
currently the use of mass transportation
in the United States saves 1.5 million
tons of carbon dioxide annually however
only fourteen percent of the population
uses it if for one day everyone were to
use public transportation carpool bike
or walk it’d be a great start to cutting
down our carbon footprint hey nat geo
can you tell us which territories flag
is the only flag in the world to have a
turtle on it
the answer is the Cayman Islands
my favorite Geographic fact is that Lake
Webster on the Massachusetts Connecticut
border has an alternate name if the
official name is like char gaga manchaca
agog chadwin Aganga mog the full name
means fishing place at the boundaries
neutral meaning ground in the language
of the nipmuc Indians this is supposed
to humorously reflect the deal made by
the English and the Native Americans
that the middle of the lake the area
with the best fish would be left as a no
fishing zone this lake also holds a
record for the longest place name of the
United States
when I become an adult I want to be an
ambassador I really hope to be the US
ambassador to the United Nations the
ambassador to the United Nations informs
the Department of State about current
affairs as well as representing the US
interests additionally since the u.s. is
part of the Security Council the
Ambassador can draft and vote on
resolutions that affect major world
events thanks for listening this is
Arnhem janeshia the Pennsylvania
representative for the 2012 National
Geographic Bee
