an actor it’s a little difficult to know
where to start or you know how to go
about it so today I’ll be interviewing
Joe samal the president of the Montreal
School of Performing Arts to give you a
little advice you get a lot of one of
the actors coming in here of course and
what would you say to those who are
interested in the acting business don’t
do something else um you know we get a
lot of people who are interested in
acting they don’t know exactly what
acting is and pretty much when they do
call me and they want to you know I want
to be an actor and so on and so forth I
pretty much tell them I go well it’s
just like being a doctor or lawyer be
the only difference is that after you
spend so many years of training and
articling or in doctors case doing your
residents an internship you’ve got a job
acting you can keep on training and
training and training and there’s no
guarantees and you get a lot of people
who don’t quite understand that it’s
actual training and not like just pure
talent um I think everybody acting is
one of the most um misunderstood
professions people don’t realize how
much work is entailed and we get there
are some talent there is that it factor
whatever it is ok but they don’t realize
it’s like well i did a cost so why am i
not acting I’ve been doing this for four
years why am I not in Hollywood why am I
not in LA you know it’s the most dilute
the arts period is the most delusional
business to get into and a lot of people
that go into it don’t go in it for the
right reasons there is a love and
there’s a passion for this okay and if
you’re doing it to make money or to
become famous saying you want to be
famous go kill the president may not be
the fam you want but I’ll get you your
your fame you’ll get your moment in the
limelight you will get a couple of book
offers and movie deals and so on and so
forth now you get a press they’ll get
you fake acting you just got to keep on
working on it there’s nobody can predict
the future
