Becoming an Actor – University vs. Private Study

why would someone come to this sort of
training facility rather than going to a
university or college setting well the
difference between studying for three
years I’ll get first of all in this
business there’s no guarantees okay the
benefit if you’re right at if you’re
here you can still be doing whatever
else you know you can still be doing
acting as a serious hobby you can still
do plays you can still participate in
movies or audition for films you don’t
have to give up your life for three
years you can still pursue something
else other than acting okay because we
all know you don’t make money so you
better learn how to be a waitress
Herbert end or something flexible I mean
not necessarily true but you know at
least be able to have something that
that is gonna pay the bills yeah so you
know whatever I don’t know the crystal
ball so I can’t tell you but so at least
when you rent a private workshop such as
what we are okay you have the
opportunity of pursuing other things
when you’re in a three year university
or cegep program not that they’re not
good okay I think education is education
completely but you’re spending three
years and there’s no promises and
guarantees when you finish you know if
there is the opportunity that you are
looked at more agents may be interested
but not necessary to keep you on you
know and I’ve trained people that have
completed a three year program and of
auditioned people that have completed
through your program and they’re no
different than people have taken
privately workshops such as myself and
other workshops that are out there so
you say it’s more of the investment of
the participant in whatever they doing
oh absolutely training absolutely you
know some people go into film school and
and music and so on and so forth and
they don’t realize the the work and the
dedication that it that that that is
required you know if you remember the
show Fame which takes part of the
New York Phil New York not the New York
dramatic and I probably will be sued by
my alumni Academy American Academy of
Dramatic Arts first of all you know in
the beginning of the movie or the
beginning of the films like dancing is
the hardest thing music is the hardest
thing acting is the hardest thing the
truth of the matter arts period is the
hardest thing and you have to love it
definitely not just wanted you have it
has to be something you eat sleep
everything there’s there’s nothing else
for you I think you know my I have a
girlfriend who use an artist and you
know her her answer I mean like I don’t

like well was there anything else for
her there was nothing else this is what
she was gonna do you know I mean not
everybody who’s taking acting is going
to be an actor yeah and not everybody
who wants to be sorry that everybody
who’s taking acting is going to be an
actor and not everybody’s taking acting
to be an actor
