we’re doing a documentary about coffee
and the difference fair trade makes to
the growers and to the environment you
see where we going to today all I dare
the ethiopia when we set off to go I
didn’t know what to expect there is such
a joyous spirit to Ethiopian people
you’re going to go and visit a coffee
grower all fair trade when you drink it
in the West it’s actually making a huge
difference to their lives right here
over here is to Carly a moment I met to
collie mix a lean in and you bump
shoulders together after work you want
to see what it’s like for a poor farmer
this is how hard they were Azul town
hamona they wake up and basically the
agenda for the day is to get food copy
buyers will come in and offer way below
market values and they can’t afford to
go anywhere else you just want to
colleague and the opportunity to be able
to break that cycle of poverty there are
billion people this day this moment we
know it fighting for their very survival
Hugh I applaud you for getting involved
in this but have you changed your
lifestyle it’s humbling it’s
embarrassing sometimes we’ve got a long
way to go to convince consumers that
their trade coffee is the way to help
the poor it’s not the way things are
meant to be and it’s not the way things
have to be
the Carley’s become a model for what is
possible for others yeah Helen Keaney an
acid ever wrote in what is happening in
the country is inspiring said the manure
is the fuel that cooks the food and the
coffee with a strange perfect to cali
and hugh’s realities are worlds apart it
was so beautiful to see a real
connection how do you say very good
dummkopf I tell the world about what is
going on here the hero of my story is a
young farmer and his name is Duke Holly
I told him that I would do my part and
that is why I’m here today its
simplicity on coffee it can actually
tackle some of the biggest issues that
plan of space I couldn’t just talk about
it I needed to enter the marketplace
Deucalion it doesn’t matter where we
come from what we want is opportunity
this is about why because this is about
change this is about hope
