screenwriter the film director and even
the clarinet player but Woody Allen is
also a playwright yes way all right
somewhere between 40 and 50 waiting
nurse hi I’m Christine on watchmojo.com
and we’re going to be talking to a
theater director about the thrill of
actually being able to direct a Woody
Allen work ha ha ha it’s a dick Jim
Swaine your highest pitch what can you
tell us about Woody Allen’s style as a
playwright he began his career writing
for some of his colleagues stand-up
comedians at the beginning of the 70s he
decided to start writing for theater and
actually his first piece was played
against um after the this biggest
success of Eric how he decided to write
another play which is called floating
white boat over there he put all
subjects which he continued about his
writing for the movies and writing for
the theater and how does this
playwriting compared to screenwriting he
put all this question about life about
his fears of the death about broken
relationship about emptiness and he
managed to put this together with great
sense of humor
for example his play that is under the
script forced artists memories or even
shadows and and then we have
riverside drive where once again we see
a character who’s a writer is it woody
allen is it not tell us a little bit
more about that play i was very
impressed about display because in a
sense this is maybe the only one which
is completely and strongly like a
revolution in his writing he puts
himself as one of the characters but the
main character is one crazy genius
Street man who is thrown out of the
system who actually is very intellectual
we ask ourselves the question who is
wrong quiz own face can you sir ah what
is it about Woody Allen’s works as a
playwright that makes you keep going
back to directing his works for the
theater because of my early years of my
staging I was always very impressed by
Odeon both as a writer as a director as
an actor I just love to do in my own way
of course in my own reading of his
writing and I will continue everything
fun do I look like a soccer yes
