a superhero with the past as convoluted
as Wolverines is certainly hard to come
by hey welcome to watchmojo.com
I’m your host Derek Allen today we’ll be
looking at five things you probably
didn’t know about Wolverine Wolverines
first appearance in a comic book took
place in October of 1974 in the
Incredible Hulk number 180 after being
featured in several issues Wolverine was
not seen again until giant-size x-men
number one the following year while
Wolverine was outfitted with the same
trademark yellow and black suit
one difference stood out Wolverines mask
now had lon pointy black ears much
larger than on his original mask the
cover artist Jill Kane mistakenly drew
the mask with the larger ear pieces the
story illustrator light Kane’s version
so much instead of asking him to fits
the cover he incorporated the new head
piece into the story and it became one
of Wolverines trademark looks co-creator
Len wines original idea intended for the
superhero Wolverine to be a mutated
Wolverine cub there are some hints to
this intended origin if you look
carefully early on in the x-men comics
in uncanny x-men number 98 scientists
cannot determine if Wolverine was a
mutant or not but conclude that he is
not human and is different from the rest
of the x-men in uncanny x-men number 103
after encountering a leprechaun
Wolverine claims he doesn’t believe in
them to which the leprechaun replies
maybe leprechauns don’t believe in
talking Wolverines either in early
comets Wolverines self-healing powers
were not as extensive as they are now
portrayed at first it was intended that
Wolverine would simply have the ability
to heal minor wounds quicker than most
however throughout the years
writers became more and more generous
with this power until it became nearly
limitless after being caught in an
atomic explosion Wolverine was capable
of regenerating all his tissue and
muscle within minutes according to the
Xavier protocols created by Professor X
the only way to truly kill Wolverine is
to decapitate him and keep his head far
from his body
while usually known as a tough guy who
solves problems with this clause if you
realize just how intelligent Wolverine
is born in the 1800s his advanced
healing powers has caused him to age
very slowly allowing him to live through
parts of three centuries according to
his marvel biography Wolverine is fluent
in Japanese Russian Chinese Lakota and
Spanish also because of his time at the
x-men and other intelligence groups he
is a trained expert in computer systems
weapons as well as a master of virtually
every fighting style
despite being imagined by most as a big
powerful figure Wolverines actual size
is surprising standing at only 5 feet 3
inches tall according to his marvel
biography Wolverine weighed in at a
solid 195 pounds and this was even
before his bones were fused with the
indestructible adamantium metal after
this process took place Wolverine tipped
the scales at a massive 300 pounds
