depending on when you’re watching this
we either just crossed or are about to
cross the 5 million subscriber milestone
so that’s very exciting thank you very
much it’s kind of crazy that at the
beginning of 2013 we had about a hundred
thousand subscribers so we basically
grown from 100,000 subscribers to five
million subscribers in 18 months and the
folks at YouTube were I guess impressed
with that so they’ve asked me to come
down and talk to a bunch of other you
know media companies about our the
success we’ve had and you guys are a big
part of that and to thank you all I’ve
asked YouTube to fly all 5 million of
you down to New York to watch that
presentation I’m kidding maybe we’ll
record some of it and then and let’s get
started yeah yeah I think YouTube’s
gonna have a heart attack find out what
I just offered so let’s get started um
do all the lists start off as fan
suggestions or are some of them actually
thought of by the staff right well I’ll
feel this one we are of course a font of
information and of knowledge and of
ideas at watchmojo I’m kidding no but we
do have a lot of ideas on the staff so
the featured suggestions on the suggest
page from Monday to Thursday are
actually ideas that we came up with but
we want to gauge your interest in the
topic on the weekends those are mostly
the future suggestions are mostly ideas
that you guys came up with that we want
to get a bit more feedback on granted
some of them do take a while to get into
production like metal frontwoman yes
like that one so that’s the thing that
one is not yet
in production yeah so here’s the thing
youtube user Mitchell Ryan asked about
that on last week’s show in the comments
section and when I saw that I went and I
checked and you know confession here
that one just pretty much slipped
through the cracks which happens once in
a while I think that one in particular
when I asked the team was because even
though we have over 50 freelancers and
over 170 people uploaded that none of
our writers actually picked it up and we
don’t want to force a video without
having the right writer take the
research and bring it to reality so we
understand you want to see it so we will
expedite it now sorry Mitchell right so
speaking of that even though like he
said we do have 50 freelancers if there
are any mojo holics who are interested
in taking that on as a writing project
for us and have the interest and the
knowledge and that kind of thing you can
contact our writing team at jobs at
watchmojo.com in fact we did realize a
month ago that we occasionally
greenlight our own ideas the in-house
ideas at the expense of more popular
suggestions from you guys on the suggest
a so we overhauled our procedures to
prioritize those overlooked suggestions
and then like before we automatically
greenlight our own stuff so now that’s
why we feature them to get your thumbs
up or thumbs down yeah it’s bit like
gladiator thumbs up to our ideas means
rule move ahead and if we got a lukewarm
reaction will just kind of shove that
back onto the shelf so one thing I did
want to note is that we have considered
actually opening up our entire upcoming
video calendar where you guys could just
go in and if let’s say you are looking
for system of a down top 10 songs you
could have searched and seen when that
was coming instead of asking for it when
it’s in production we may still do that
the other crazier idea we had which we
won’t do because it would just disrupt
everything is to give you guys the
ability to also vote and move up or push
back the upcoming videos that are in
production or sometimes even completed
but just sitting in the queue that would
disrupt things so we’re not going to do
that prolly but we may probably open up
our calendar imminently interesting
alright my turn to pick a question how
would you do a top 10 video like top 10

parents probably have a top five list

a list is interesting even if there’s
only ten or let’s say 15 entries that’s
fair game if the topic is interesting so
if we’re talking about the doctors and
Doctor Who Fawlty Towers episodes or the
Star Trek movies it’s fine even if
there’s a dozen we think part of the the
charm is to rank those so that’s fair
game to us right but we will not do
something that has fewer than 10 entries
yeah so even though we were tempted to
do top 10 seven days of the week on
April Fool’s Day as a kind of joke we
thought you guys might not get that and
just say we’re running out of ideas but
so long as there’s 10 entries that’s
very gay right okay so next one we got
this question actually a lot are there
any more anime lists in the works or do
you guys feel discouraged that’s never
discouraged to do more of those because
of the past negative feedback I love
your anime list by the way good to know
uh surprisingly there are no anime lists
in the pipeline at the moment but I am
quite sure that there are several very
cool ones on the suggests a what we’re
going to do is we’re gonna feature a
couple of below and you guys can vote on
which ones we should do first yeah and
for what it’s worth those lists actually
did phenomenally well there was an
overwhelming number of likes but there
always be dislikes because anime fans
are very passionate and tickled and
fickle in any case we have a thick skin
i think our general rule is when we do a
top 10 list we just don’t expect
everybody to agree with first of all the
topic but definitely not with all the
entries in the order and that’s fine i
think would be impossible to think that

more Geographic in terms of interest
Americans like basketball baseball
football Canadians like hockey Europeans

yeah what’s your point mean you get what
I mean but you hinted that the second
reason was
rights and our editorial flexibility so
I know we get this question a lot can
you expand we do get that question a bit
to be honest with you when we started
the show I said that it would be
transparent and nothing would be off
limits and that’s true but while I’ve
gotten that question a bit through
emails and we see it in the comments
surprisingly it’s actually never even
appeared on the suggestion pole that we
asked you guys to to you know use so if
you think that’s too inside baseball and
boring then I guess we don’t need to
cover it but if you guys are interested
then you know what you got to do right
