dan’s new show as well as other series
that may or may not be in watch mojo’s

after his whirlwind trip to New York
welcome back thank you did you get a
chance to see Dan and Dave last week yes
I did and I thought the final product
was rather entertaining now i’m not the
biggest gamer and while i think it’s
important for us to kind of explain the
method to the madness of our lists i
thought i will apply the first take that
I saw that was never aired I thought
they came off you know a bit defensive
they they look like hostages pleading
their case to capture so I just told
them to be themselves you know show that
they know the material and just relay
that we are objective in what we do and
I actually really enjoyed it so how did
your presentation at YouTube go it
actually went very well we talked about
how we’ve grown from a hundred thousand
subs 25 million subs in 18 months do you
think that that is a growth rate that we
can maintain that’s 5000 percent in 18
months so probably not for us to reach
that same metric in 18 months we’d have
to be a 250 million subscribers Oh what
is possible um I think if we could add
as many subscribers as we have in the
last 18 months in the next 18 months
thus being at fought at 10 million I
think that would be unbelievable and
something we should be very proud of and
we can probably accomplish that in one
of three ways one we could actually go
rather global and start doing lists in
either other countries or gear to other
demographics to we could launch a
similar channel for a woman or just
launched produce more female oriented
programming on our core channel both of
those of pros and cons I think you know
5 million subscribers is a great number
we should be proud of but it’s not like
it’s 50 million subscribers so my gut
says actually to double down and just
give the Mojo holics more of what they
want better more faster right so
yesterday on what’s your mojo den and I
finally unveiled what Dan’s new show
will be which is YouTube topics which is
basically a series of top 10 lists of
top 10 YouTube channels and different
themes so top 10 youtube cooking
channel’s top 10 YouTube makeup channels
etc how does that fit into plans so I
think entrepreneurs lie to themselves
they take credit for everything say
everything was planned from day one
whereas most inventions and most
decisions are kind of actually stumbled
upon so to speak so in our case yes we
did think of doing something along those
veins and sure we think you know what
the risk of sounding altruistic it would
be good to cast a spotlight on other
channels but it wasn’t really until we
saw that one giving suggestion that top
10 YouTube movie critics exactly yeah so
when we saw top 10 YouTube movie critics
and we saw some of the featured critics
share that and kind of show their
excitement for us to do the list a light
bulb went off and we said you know even
if people didn’t necessarily go out of
their way to promote us when we were
smaller or unknown we just thought it
would make a lot of sense to you know
showcase other channels right had that
ever crossed your mind before truth be
told yes in June I was in LA and I was
listening to YouTube CEO talk and it’s
not a direct quote but she said
something to the effect of you know
there’s a lot of great content on
YouTube but actually for a viewer to
know what to watch it’s not obvious so
we kind of between that quote and the
suggestion we kind of view this as a win
win win win would meaning obviously the
channels we feature get promotional
coverage which is good for them I think
the YouTube community wins just the
audience wins by virtue of
cross-promotion and showing people new
channels to you know waste time and
learn stuff on obviously YouTube
benefits from having more subscribers to
all their channels and just having us
leverage our you know platform to
promote and plug other channels that may
have less views or less activity on them
and I will apply I think at the end of
the day if we are honest and do a good
job and kick ass with these lists the
way we have with our existing
programming then we will benefit as well
so it kind of all came together so are
there any other shows in our future yes
definitely um last week after I watched
Dan and Dave’s kind of talk show about
the top 10 video games
all time I actually posted a comment
saying to the module asking the Mojo
holics if they like the talk format or
if we should stick to what you have
shown most interest in which is top 10
list I also asked a few guys would be
interested in a TMZ like you know
glimpse into fly on the wall show where
you see some of our creative meetings
and you get a sense of how we decide and
you know there’s some interesting funny
witty moments and again those have pros
and cons but the same way that the watch
module staff never seem to listen to me
the Mojo holics didn’t exactly listen
either they just kind of replied saying
call of duty should be number one last
of us should be number one you guys are
idiots kind of comments which is fine so
this week I’d like to throw it back
again at you guys and say there is a
poll if you guys could take it and give
us feedback that would be appreciated
and for sure probably even before we
launch the first youtube topic show with
then we are going to do more news
oriented programming so top 10 reasons
why Isis has grown so much in the last
year top 10 reasons why Scotland
considered then rejected independence
top 10 reasons why you may get Ebola
after all so that’s definitely going to
happen and same mechanism you guys are
going to vote to tell us what you want
us to produce first right so aside from
Dave who was on last week to discuss his
area of expertise which is video games
do you foresee any other YouTube
watchmojo staffers coming on to discuss
their Forte hopefully I mean two weeks
ago when I mentioned to the staff that I
was going to New York I asked who wants
to come on and only Dave showed an
interest I actually reached out to one
of our colleagues my crew manages our
freelance team of writers and he said
maybe I’ll come on in the future to talk
about do’s and don’ts and best practices
if you want to write for us the reality
is there’s not that many people jumping
up in volunteering to come and take your
abuse I’m just kidding um but hopefully
I mean I think I’m going to be gone
again on another business trip in a few
weeks so I’m gonna basically course or
blackmail someone to come on it’s the
only way I get anything done good okay

have any ideas or feedback at all we are
