it’s what separates us from the animals
opposable thumbs and therefore text
messaging hi I’m Rebecca Brighton and
welcome to watchmojo.com and today we’ll
be learning more about this global
phenomenon what has led to the explosion
of text messaging over the past few
years devices are becoming a lot easier
to manipulate to allow for that form of
communication as well as a fast and
instantaneous form of communication
whereas that in the past making phone
calls pretty much dictated cellular
phones now it within seconds we can talk
about anything and everything between a
couple people or a group of people who
text messages I would all just to think
it was always just young people who want
to be in touch and in the now and know
what’s going on for parties and that
actually comes out to everybody whether
it be adults whether it be teenagers
different demographic groups will use
this because it’s in the very effective
like i said if immediate form of
communication do you want to talk about
text language of it text language is and
this is funny i was shooting the study
last week which was talking about
texting language where the worry was
that what all these new abbreviated de
sentences that were sending off and the
kids are sending off creating your own
language and it was interesting to see
that it wasn’t a regression of language
is actually an evolution of language now
with the standard phone you only have
about 140 characters that you can type
in in a regular text message so what
it’s allowed us to do is that create a
certain language taking everyday words
but adjusting them to allow them for
that space and then time constraint so
we see words like text which will be txt
rather than y’all written with the txt
or we’ll see see you later with the
letter C the you LT 8r right so we’ll
see a development but it still allows
people to to catch exactly what the
message is it doesn’t cause us to
regress in our current formal language
it’s just for convenience sake I’d have
to say
