making phone calls over the Internet can
be a lot cheaper than making them over a
phone line hi I’m Rebecca Brayton and
welcome to watchmojo.com and today we’ll
be learning more about VoIP so let’s
start with what is voice VoIP is a
technology which allows us to
communicate different people over the
internet so VoIP stands for voice over
IP voice over Internet Protocol people
have been doing this for a long time
without even realizing it
things like MSN voice chat or Skype
they’ve been voicing for a long time
what is its connection to Internet
telephony VoIP would be the more
technical term while instant telephony
would actually be something that most of
us would use on a daily basis what is
the biggest advantage using boy right
now extremely low cost for long distance
or in some cases completely free long
distance are there any disadvantages you
do require a high-speed Internet
connection a dial-up connection won’t do
if it’s very far or the internet
connection is it reliable
you’ll get things like stutter and
jitter so you’ll hear echoing or you’ll
hear the person’s sound like they’re
stuttering what voicemail options does
the service feature well you have the
traditional options like dialing in to
your number putting in your password and
then listening to the voicemail but do
you have a couple of other features that
are also available you can have the
voice mail sent you as an attachment of
voice attachments that you can play from
your computer but one of the newest
features that some providers are
offering or something that’s called
voice recognition so it’ll actually
recognize the voice
translate the voice into text so you can
get a summary text to your SMS device
can you explain to us the finally Follow
Me function find me follow me is an
advanced sort of forwarding function the
advantage with it is you can have the
find me follow me ring at several
locations so it can ring on your soft
phone it can ring on your hard phone and
it can ring let’s say on your cellular
the first one to pick up will be one
actually has the conversation and the
rest of the rings would stop at that
point thank you very much you’re very
welcome so we were talking about void
the void and
used in several fashions one of the
easiest ways is with something called a
soft phone so I have a soft foam already
installed here and configured it runs
and it sounds like a regular telephone
when you dial numbers so we’re just
gonna dial one number real quickly here
so it’s now in the process of calling
that phone number and we should see this
phone ringing right now
