this list we’ll be looking at Nintendo’s
newest console the switch and what it is
done to become such a huge success

number 5 the core concept works very
well Nintendo has always managed to sort
of break through the fold by introducing
a new gimmick with many of its gaming
devices with the switch they used their
naming conventions quite literally
creating a system that can switch from
home console to handheld in seconds the
joy cons can combine to create a
controller or detach to make to
individual controllers and docking it
displays the games on a TV while placing
the joy cons on the tablet and removing
it allows you to take gaming on the go
while all of that sounds good on paper
it’s all about execution and incredibly
useful if you don’t want your gaming
session to stop when you have to leave
your house

number four early third party support
[Applause]
[Music]
for over a decade Nintendo has had a
major lack of third-party support some
of their competitors have excelled in at
the switch reveal it was confirmed who
would be working with Nintendo to bring
games to the console and boy was the
list long in just the first year the
switch is seeing a release of Skyrim
FIFA 18 doom 2016 Sonic mania and a lot
more
while most early support is coming in
the form of multi-platform games and
ports of older games any form of variety
on a Nintendo console is incredibly
welcome the game is a battle if it’s not
fun why bother if it’s not a battle
where’s the fun number three it doesn’t
look like a toy what sets it apart is
when you want to play away from your TV
you can remove it from the dock get up
and go while Nintendo may innovate with
its gimmicks that kind of leads to
suffering in both the console and
controller design the Wii U gamepad
looks like an overweight bulky
child-friendly tablet with its
reflective plastic design not helping
matters with the Nintendo switches
design it feels a lot more streamlined
the button layout and controllers are
more in line with traditional
controllers even if the Joye cons
hearken back to the Wii Remote a little
bit thanks in part to the bundled
controller accessory the switch feels
more at home with adult gamers than
Nintendo’s past few consoles intend o
switch switch and play number two good
launch here Maya visits all these and
more in the globe-trotting game Super
Mario Odyssey consoles are nothing
without their games and the switch has
one of the most impressive launch years
ever seen with no shortage of
third-party support Nintendo has upped
their game by releasing several big
first party titles including a brand new
Zelda Mario and Fire Emblem game of
course single-player games can get
lonely and Nintendo has also released
another new IP the fighting game arms a
sequel to the ever popular splatoon and
a release of Mario Kart 8 all with good
multiplayer if this was only the first
year for the Nintendo switch we can only
imagine what Nintendo and other
developers have gone in store for us
down the line
[Music]
[Applause]
number one it’s a surprisingly good
portable buy now everyone knows that the
switches main selling point is its
ability to convert to portable but how
good is that feature considering that
the switch is practically a tablet it’s
safe to say that it’s pretty damn good
not only does it display games at 720p
resolution running just as well if not
better as its dock mode it also allows
for two players on the go with a
built-in kickstand the switch can turn
into a small home console with a screen
easily giving players a console gaming
experience anytime
