Top 5 Predictions for the Rest of the 2018 World Cup

ah the age-old game of trying to predict
the unpredictable welcome to
watchmojo.com and today we’ll be
counting down our top five predictions
for the rest of the 2018 World Cup
before we begin we publish new content
every day so be sure to subscribe to our
Channel and ring the bell to get
notified about our latest videos for
this list we’ll be looking at the
scenarios or events that we think will
transpire during the rest of the 2018
World Cup in Russia these predictions
will vary in scale from tournament wide
predictions to scenarios involving teams
or players in particular literally
anything can happen at this point so
well this should be a fun to revisit
once the tournament is up number five
Maci vs. Ronaldo and the quarterfinals
sometimes it just feels like fate has
more influence in deciding a football
match than the performance of the two
teams both Portugal and Argentina took
the rocky road to get out of the group
stage largely underperforming but doing
just enough to survive one thing’s for
certain with Ronaldo and Messi in their
ranks anything is possible
need proof just look to Renaldo’s
heroics versus Spain or Messi’s
important goal versus Nigeria but
Portugal and Argentina lined up for a
potential quarterfinals match up the
competition gets personal between
Ronaldo and Messi and that could be
enough for them to drag their Nations
over their respective hurdles of utter
guai and France two very very
challenging hurdles at that number for
2018 will break the 2014 in 1998 goals
record 2018 already broke the record for
consecutive matches without a bore
nil-nil draw and the goals record is
next hopefully the record for the most
goals scored in a single World Cup
tournament two shared by the 1998 and
2014 editions of the tournament at 171
goals after the group stage the 2018
World Cup has seen 122 so they’re just
fifty shy of the record if we’re talking
average goals per game this tournament
is sitting at 2.5 for per match so it’s
just a little bit short of the record
holders mark of 2.76 now there are 16
matches remaining in this tournament so
the teams all need to band together and
forget about defending go on class of
2018 knockout round teams we believe in
you
number three no match we’ll make it to a
shootout okay we’re rolling the dice big
time with this one considering the fact
that as we mentioned in the previous
entry this tournament smashed the record
for consecutive matches without a nil
nil draw here’s hoping the knockout
rounds of this world cup have enough
goals from regulation or even an extra
time to stave off the dreaded penalty
shootout nobody likes to see a team go
down thanks to the sporting equivalent
of a lottery and hey if we want to see
the total goals per tournament record
beaten anyways we’re going to need all
the goals we can muster the best part
even if we’re wrong with this one we’re
still winning as far as drama goes
number two Kane wins the Golden Boot but
football isn’t coming home despite
playing in only two matches for the
Three Lions Harry Kane managed to score
five goals pretty damn impressive though
we hate to inform you Harry that you
still haven’t scored as many as mr. own
goal as he’s sitting pretty at nine
already anyway sorry bad jokes aside we
predict that Kane’s form will carry on
throughout the knockout rounds as he
will eventually be crowned to the Golden
Boot winner
despite England only making the
semi-finals and while we’re at it
here are some other award winning
individuals Cuttino will win the Golden
Ball as the tournament MVP and Muslera
will win the Golden Glove as the best
goalkeeper you’re welcome
number one a first-time World Cup winner
for the sake of shaking things up we
really hope were right with this one
some quick history there has been eight
different nations that have won the
World Cup and six of those eight teams
are still remaining in the competition
England Spain Brazil Uruguay France and
Argentina so just looking at the numbers
the former champions are outnumbered six
to ten by those that have never won the
competition and thankfully there are
some solid challengers that have never
won the tournament Portugal boasts one
of history’s best game changers in
Cristiano Ronaldo Belgium has one of the
best collections of individuals in the
world Croatia have proven that they
aren’t afraid of anybody and have the
talent to boot and Mexico showed they’re
capable of hurting teams on the counter
