look your best we based our rank on a
mix of subscriber numbers views both
from our users personal preference and

number 10 Lauren Curtis our first entry

Aguilera as you can tell I did change my
outfit and my lipstick just to be more
Christina II now one problem you may run
into is that you’ll see a great tutorial
but you won’t have access to all the
products the artist used either because
they use a lot of high-end stuff or just
because they come from a mishmash of
different places Lauren Curtis is very
considerate in this respect because she
does makeup hauls from very common
places like CVS or Target making our
tutorials a lot more accessible to the
average gal so I will start off with
Sephora so this also contains stuff from
Target and CVS on top of her regular
videos she also has a series of makeup
don’t which explicitly tell you what not
to do with your makeup these are often
fun to watch just to witness the
horrendous monster she turns herself
into I’m using a really really pale
concealer or lipstick means that your
teeth are gonna look nice and yellow
that’s a really really attractive look
number 9 Carli bybel one thing you’ll
notice right off the bat is Carly’s
channel is one of the most organized
that you’ll see today it’s split into
standard tutorials and celebrity
inspired looks but also includes lists
for more fun off-topic stuff like
motivational videos and vlogs and even
one for health and fitness so besides
working out and staying active which is
obviously so important I did change up
my diet a lot a series of clips that she
does very well are her get ready with me
videos which is essentially a hybrid
between a makeup tutorial and a vlog in
these she gets ready for a certain event
with you on camera and then takes you to
the event vlog stop I want to see wicked
it’s my second time and my mom’s second
time but Brenda manifold haven’t seen it
so hey guys excited
so I’m from her charming accent and
down-to-earth personality what sets
Carly apart from other gurus is her
focus on user interaction she can almost
always be seen responding in the
comments of her videos which just gives
the whole channel a very interactive and
friendly tone and definitely makes the
experience a lot more personal for her
viewers so this is the final result

assume isn’t choice actually has a
pretty funny story about how she rose to
YouTube fame she created a three-part
makeup tutorial for Katy Perry’s et
music video weeks before it was due to
come out on the day that the video was
released MTV spoke to her live on skype
and actually did part 2 of her tutorial
on their audience this as you can
imagine garnered her YouTube channel a
bit of success I’ll call the alien
mathematical geometry face shape while
many of the artists we’ll see today are
focused on long comprehensive tutorials
Andrea’s videos are more of a mishmash
of quick beauty and style tips with a
heavy focus on do-it-yourself her DIY
videos range from frizzy hair remedies
to how to make your own rainbow shorts
um
okay put them in the washer dryer take
them out and look at you girlfriend as
you probably guessed by now her channel
is less about getting that one super
look for one big night and more about
how to switch up your look and
accessorize for every day and this is
like a like regular eye shadow it just
has like really big chunks of sparkles
in it so I’m gonna use that instead of
glitter number seven Tanya burr Tanya
burr has a channel that’s developed into
much more than just a place to get great
makeup tutorials and now features a lot
of vlogs and guest appearances by
popular YouTube celebrities in fact out
of everyone we’ve seen so far tanya is
the most interweb in in the youtube
celebrity scene
we’ll just look okay with its haha much
like our tenth entry tanya puts a lot of
consideration in to those of you who are
working on a budget and has a lot of
tutorials that are heavily focused on
products that come from lower end
drugstores so I went to Target in LA
with my friend Ingrid from
missglamorazzi and we together picked
out some products and which we thought
looked really really nice and would be
perfect for the $20 makeup challenge
like Lauren Curtis she also has a
drugstore haul video and even a twenty
dollar makeup challenge video which she
did while she was in the United States
so the currency would light up and since
I was in America last week I thought why
not buy the makeup products whilst I’m
here in dollars so I can actually do the
20 dollar makeup challenge
I’d say the Tania’s channel is better
for someone who’s looking for something
a bit more general a lot of the channels
we’re gonna look at today are focused on
specific things whereas if you’re
looking for something that covers the
middle of the road a lot of everything
Tanya burr channel is definitely up your
alley
I think this lipstick is incredible I
know you have to be quite brave to wear
it I think it’s so fun to take risks
number six Goss makeup artist so if the
last channel we looked at was a bit more
general this one goes the other way and
is way more specific all of Gauss’s
videos focus on very specific individual
elements of beauty and skincare so take
it in take it to the skin and then just
stipple it like that all over the face
this is a channel for those of you that
want to get really specific this should
come as no surprise as Goss used to work
for 15 years as a professional makeup
artist before beginning his foray onto
YouTube to list a few examples he has a
handful of videos on contouring not just
one or two then four I makeup the sky is
really the limit whether it’s achieving
a specific look like a lifted eye as he
calls it or just how to apply eyeliner
like a pro Goss is the man to go to so
you can see how dark it makes the
eyelashes look bigger and it’s got this
anchor because the gel eyeliner is now
dried another big part of his channel is
he has a lot of videos devoted to common
skincare issues whether it’s blackheads
bags under your eyes acne scars if it’s
something you’re self-conscious about on
your face he probably has a video to
help you fix it polster’s this one’s too
nose and way you won and put it off and
those are your blackheads yes they can
unplug it to a certain degree but they
don’t deal with the root cause of it
okay number five candy Johnson here we
have another youtuber that started out
as a pro before branching onto the
Internet
candy Johnson used to work as a
professional makeup artist for film
print and TV long before she ever had a
youtube channel or you could do brunette
Barbie
redheaded Barbie 80s Barbie or you could
look like Anna from frozen imagine I
have the costume on candy likes to have
a lot of fun in her videos a lot of the
people were seeing today have great
personalities pretty much all of them do
but candy really stands out and with her
on-screen persona often she’s bursting
with excitement
clearly pumped with how well her look
has turned out I even made my nail
Moscow so proud of myself freebie I
mentioned before that she clearly likes
to have a lot of fun on camera and this
spills into the looks that she does as
well while she does a fair amount of
what I’d call standard tutorials
she also focuses a lot on what I’d call
movie centric ones she has videos
mimicking Elsa from frozen Snow White
Lucille Ball etc okay so now that we’re
done with this I think it’s time for the
wig and the costume will show you the
complete I Love Lucy look much like goss
candies professional experience really
shows in her videos and gives them a
level of credibility and trustworthiness
but as I mentioned before she’s still
really bubbly and personable so that
professional look really doesn’t come at
the cost of watchability

what’s funniest about this is that you’d
never know from looking at her that she
was really shy starting off she emotes a

seems right at home on screen whenever I
go to a new cupcake place that I’ve

red velvet cupcake because I determined
years ago that red velvet would be my
control group for cupcakes clearly we’re

judge on Project Runway threads which is
a real like tea show even if it’s not
something that appeals to the masses
sometimes you just got to do something

bethany mota number three is actually
another inspiring youtube success story
bethany mota allegedly started her
channel as a means of coping with
bullying this also obviously paid off as
she now has 8 million subs we only have
six but because I know a lot of you guys
are probably gonna be going to a party
or hanging out with your friends on New
Year’s Eve I’ll probably stay home watch
movies and stuff my face team Lacey
while a lot of makeup channels
definitely spill into the lifestyle vlog
kind of category Bethany’s channel
definitely stands out the most in this
regard those of you that are still in
school will find a ton of helpful stuff
on her channel from locker room
organization – what to wear on the first
day – even tips on healthy meals for
breakfast it’s so amazing I look forward
to eating this because it is just so
good once you have it you’re gonna want
it every day for breakfast like the
channel andreaschoice
bethany mota Scannell is less about
helping you find that one great look for
the prom and more about finding a lot of
quick tips for everyday use in fact
probably the word that comes up the most
often on her channel is quick quick
hairstyles quick meals and of course
quick makeup
it really makes it fun it makes it look
like you put a lot of time into your
hair makeup when you really did it which
is awesome number two zoella while
there’s nothing particularly special
about what so well it does or doesn’t do
by ways of content she really just sort
of gets the whole YouTube thing almost
better than anyone else

them zoella is the queen of the haul a
title that’s been bestowed upon her by
Vogue magazine
not just us hey I wanted to do a haul
video because I have I was gonna say
I’ve done one of these in a while
clearly I have I do them all the time
she’s also received numerous awards and
accolades in the UK and despite some
recent controversy over her use of a
ghostwriter
she’s now a record-setting best-selling

amazing that I can you get a fight over
II know there are a lot more than just

our number-one entry michelle phan was
apparently turned down for a job as a
sales associate for lancome in 2007
because of a lack of experience three
years later she became the official
makeup artist for Lancome not a bad

this can save a lot of time especially
if you have to go to an event right
after work as you can probably tell a
lot of the Guru’s we’ve looked at today
fall into one of two categories those
that focus on getting specific looks and
