Oh
Titanic was called the ship of Dreams uh
youth welcome to watchmojo.com and today
we’ll be counting down our picks for the
top ten younger versions of characters
in movies we will do exactly as the
council has instructed for this list
we’re taking a look at the best
performances by actors who play a
character during the younger years of
their life sure to qualify for this
countdown the younger characters must
exist within the same timeline as the
older self we’ve also excluded
performances from biopics like paul tano
as brian wilson in love and mercy
remember to see a higher octave on the
upbeats in the bridge hey Brian since
we’ll be discussing the evolution of
these characters a spoiler alert is
definitely in order she was gonna suck
us down
take it Jade fuck what I say number 10
josh brolin as agent k men in black 3
who are you in what view it took a long
time for men in black free to finally
hit the theaters so long in fact the
Tommy Lee Jones arguably got too old for
the alien hunting game you know how I
live such a happy life how you live such
a happy life I don’t ask questions I
don’t want to know the answer to
fortunately this third outing cooked up
a brilliant premise in which wills Agent
J travels back in time and meets a
younger version of agent K played by
Josh Brolin I’m an agent of men in black
but I’m from the future we’re partners
aside from looking and sounding just
like Jones Brolin flawlessly captured
the characters straight-faced
no-nonsense charm ask me any question
anything you want as long as it doesn’t
have to do with the case just let er rip
on top of that he shared impeccable
chemistry with his co-star as if he and
Smith had been working together for
years good a future man where to I don’t
know
number 9 Kate Winslet as Rose DeWitt
Bukater Titanic don’t do it
stay back
don’t come any closer just as Kate
Winslet and Judi Dench received Oscar
nominations for portraying Iris Murdoch
Winslet and Gloria Stewart were both
recognized by the Academy for playing
Rose in Titanic your new gear now only a
memory of her older self young rose is
an aristocratic lady who discovers true
love on the dude voyage this is where we
first met
Winslet brings great depth to her most
iconic role evolving from a frightened
repressed girl to a brave resilient
woman who risks everything for the man
she’s given her heart to even if our
lovers don’t live happily ever after
Rose emerges from the tragedy as a
stronger person who will go on fine a
but well a tomb is number 8 saoirse
ronan as Briony Tallis atonement why
don’t you talk to Robbie anymore
I do although build is a supporting
player Saoirse Ronan Briony is the true
star of this movie I wanted to do place
here the child of Arabella in her
breakout role the 12 year old Ronan
asserted herself as a rising star with
unlimited potential yes that’s wonderful
Ryan a deceitful manipulative jealous
and not nearly as innocent as she looks
Briony at times feels like a
Shakespearean villain driving two lovers
apart out of spite
she goes through life concealing a dark
secret I’m very very sorry is it
terrible distressed that I’ve caught I’m
very very sick
Romola Garai plays her as a teenager but
it’s Vanessa redgraves elderly Briony
who brings the character full circle
you’ve read the book you’ll understand
why without getting too much away Briony
ultimately looks back on our past
decisions with great regret forever
seeking hem atonement
gave that
happens
number seven Mackenzie Foy as Murph
interstellar can’t we just let it go it
wasn’t hurting anybody
just as Murphy’s a child who’s gifted
beyond her years Mackenzie Foy is an
actress who shows great talent it’s such
a young age
anything is funny you wouldn’t be here
if it wasn’t for me the father/daughter
relationship between Cooper and Murph
provides interstellar with a heart it’s
nothing short of devastating when Murph
is forced to watch her father leave
Earth
we also dare you not to tear up when
Cooper receives a message from Murph who
grows up to become Jessica Chastain not
bad you once told me that when you came
back we might be the same age and today
I’m the age you were when you left real
good time I mean in the end Cooper gets
to see his daughter one last time as an
elderly lady played by Ellen Burstyn me
how are you good
I know while all three actresses are
wonderful it’s void who ultimately
forges the connection between daughter
father and audience I figured out the
message n-word you know what it is stay
number six
Martin Freeman as Bilbo Baggins The
Hobbit trilogy can I help you the
adventures of Bilbo Baggins were only
hinted at in the Lord of the Rings
trilogy where Ian Holm played the
character in his twilight years
I feel thing sort of stretched like
butter scraped over too much bread
I need a holiday The Hobbit journeys are
depicted in great detail throughout this
prequel trilogy which is primarily
driven by Martin Freeman’s portrayal of
Bilbo can you promise that I will come
back no and if you do you will not be
the sir that’s what I thought
sorry kind of I can’t sign this although
initially reluctant to leave his cozy
home in the Shire
Bilbo eventually decides to join a quest
to the Lonely Mountain I found something
in the Goblin tunnels found word will
you fund my courage along the way the
apprehensive Hobbit evolves into a
confident traveller and a voice of
reason remember everything that happened
the good the bad him okay I had little
make it home all the while Freeman act
as a likeable endearing presence sorry
about that
number 5 Zachary Quinto as Spock Star
Trek franchise live long and prosper
when it was announced that Star Trek
would be rebooted fans were skeptical
about the next generation of actors
secured a seal the engineering deck we
have intruders in turbine section 3 set
phasers to stun fortunately the new
Starship Enterprise crew had a marvelous
cast across the board especially Zachary
Quintos mr. Spock the doctor doesn’t
have a point captain don’t agree with me
Spock and he’s been very uncomfortable
Quinto maintains the characters logical
mindset while also bringing a surprising
amount of humanity to the half-human
half-vulcan
making the role his own this indicates
that you plan to align Khan the very man
we were sent here to destroy through
time-travel Quintos younger Spock is
even able to share a couple of moments
with Spock prime played by the great
Leonard Nimoy Spock in this case do
yourself a favor put aside logic do what
feels right
although Nimoy’s passing saddened us all
it’s comforting to know that the
character has been left in good hands
captain the ship sir line number for you
and McGregor as obi-wan Kenobi Star Wars
franchise don’t
that comes with must and not again
there’s really not a ton of stuff to
enjoy about the Star Wars prequels but
you and McGregor’s obi-wan Kenobi is
definitely a force to be reckoned with
nonetheless like Alec Guinness before
him McGregor encompasses all of the
characters wisdom and strength you’ve
made a commitment to the Jedi Order a
commitment not easily broken at the same
time we get to see obi-wan in a
different light as he matures from an
eager Padawan to an insightful Jedi do
you like your army I look forward to
seeing them in action
despite being stuck with a horrible line
of dialogue every once in a while I have
seen a security hologram of him killing
younglings McGregor hardly ever hits a
false note but be patient Anakin it will
not be long before the council makes you
a Jedi Master
charismatic dignified and occasionally
humorous he lives and breathes obi-wan
obi-wan may the force be with you
goodbye old friend
number three Joseph gordon-levitt as Joe
looper it will be instantly outlawed
used only in secret by the largest
criminal organisations Joseph
gordon-levitt and Bruce Willis really
don’t look like each other even with
those special makeup effects yet you
never doubt that these are the same
person in looper I hurt myself it
changes your body this is what I do not
change your member matters Joe
gordon-levitt plays an assassin who only
looks out for numero uno Joe is assigned
to kill his future self who has been
sent back in time and has pretty much
everything to lose so if we’re still
alive thirty years from now they’ll find
our older self zap him back to us and
we’ll kill him like any other job
although neither is necessarily a good
guy we empathize with both the younger
and older versions of Joe none of this
concerns me this was gonna happen to you
it happen to you it doesn’t have to
happen to me
gordon-levitt in particular shows a
significant range as he transitions from
a selfish loner to a man willing to
jeopardize his own future for others
it’s just men trying to figure out what
they would do at Cape Winston’s
number two Michael Fassbender as Erik
Lehnsherr slash magneto the ex
franchise use neon America intro long
before Charles Xavier and Erik Lehnsherr
were enemies they were the closest of
allies you’ve known all along while I
was here Charles but things have changed
while james mcavoy hit it out of the
park as the young professor Eck’s
michael fassbender fashioned magneto
into an even more complex multi-layered
character i didn’t kill the president
the bullet curved Erik because I was
trying to save him they took me out
before I could aside from bringing out
the master of magnetism zhmed hissing
side fassbender also plays Erik is a
caring friend and an authoritative
mentor I want you by my side what
brothers you and I all of us together
protecting each other we want the same
thing at times we even see glimpses of a
man who could improve the world with his
powers but alas he can’t overcome his
hatred for humanity or his lust for
vengeance killing one man isn’t enough
before we get to our top pick here are a
few honorable mentions you’ve been
honest
yeah yes scary
yes so it’s not gonna be easy it’s gonna
be really hard and we’re gonna have to
work at this every day but I want to do
that because I want you I want all of
you forever you and me every day be sure
to keep in touch see see ok well sure
friends aren’t we
number one Robert De Niro as Don Vito
Corleone The Godfather Part two yeah The
Godfather was certainly a tough act to
follow
not only is the film itself considered a
classic but Marlon Brando delivered one
of the greatest performances of all time
as Vito Corleone uh-huh choir ease man
oh no acts of vengeance yet this sequel
nearly surpassed its predecessor as did
Robert De Niro’s oscar-winning
performance as a young Vito De Niro
masterfully embodies this character as
he progresses from a lowly immigrant
struggling to make ends meet to the most
powerful man in New York a special
initiative and testing regime answer
this Unreal Engine 4 780 Romeo sighs
your father hey these flashbacks are
perfectly complemented by the scenes in
the present day as Vito son Michael
rains in as the new head of the family
my father taught me many things you
don’t me in this room he taught me keep
your friends close but your enemies
closer
do you agree with our list what’s your
favorite younger portrayal of a
character if you would clarify Minister
