even if they didn’t get your money
they definitely deserved it welcome to
watchmojo.com and today we’ll be
counting down our picks for the top 10
underrated movies just to clarify by
underrated we need that these are good
movies that the mass is skipped and
never really gained much traction or
popularity after the fact you might
think that some are classics and you’re
right but that doesn’t mean they did
well so what happened in your opinion
while you’re talking about number 10 in
Bruges what on a job yeah hair Bru’s
yeah harem grooms on a job yeah we’re
not surprised if you haven’t heard of
this delightfully dark British American
crime comedy only managing to double its
already paltry budget of 15 million it
stars ray Fiennes as a crime boss who
sends two hitmen Brendan Gleeson and
Colin Farrell to lay low in the small
town of Bruges can I go up in Dublin
I loved Oakland if I grown up on a farm
and was retarded Bruges might impress me
but I didn’t so ultimately a crisis of
conscience Spurs a conflict loaded with
incredible acting amusing lines and
surprising heart I suppose you got out
there yet what we’re gonna do we can’t
stand here or not
why don’t you both put your guns down go
home I’m a stupid number 9 The Iron
Giant taking place in the 1950s this
animated Warner Brothers film centers on
a boy defriending a robot from outer
space heavy on the themes of love and
friendship it starred Vin Diesel as the
eponymous metal eating machine I got a
gun unfortunately it became just another
smart family-friendly movie to get
slaughtered at the box office pulling in
only 31 million from a 50 to 70 million
dollar budget I mean we’re all going to
die Mansley for our country screw our
country I want to live
number eight Gattaca ten fingers ten
toes that’s all that used to matter not
now now only seconds old the exact time
cause of my death has already known this
criminally underrated precautionary
sci-fi tale suffered a poor box office
drop most probably due to its favoring
of thought-provoking storytelling over
mindless action recouping only a third
of its twenty six million dollar budget
set in a world where DNA dictates every
aspect of a person’s life and career it
starred ethan hawke as a man who fakes
his identity so he can achieve his dream
of going into space for someone who was
never meant for this world I must
confess I’m suddenly having a hard time
leaving you number seven punch-drunk
love feel like I would be a little tense
and I don’t think I’d act like myself
that’s kind of hair fall everyone
associates adam sandler with idiotic
screwball comedies however at the peak
of his popularity
he took a special one-time detour
reaching new acting debts Sandler played
a shy sad and repressed man with anger
issues who falls in love with Emily
Watson before being extorted by Philip
Seymour Hoffman no no no shut up shut up
you’re all right to take shut up shut up
shut up shut shut shut shut shut up it’s
an odd film but it’s also tragically
underrated as it’s genuinely touching
and unique I have a love in my life it
makes me stronger than anything you can
imagine I would say bats that mattress
man number six
children of men
coming up just shy of its modest budget
at the box office this futuristic tale
showcases a society without hope as all
of mankind has been struck with
infertility with one woman inexplicably
pregnant Clive Owen plays a bureaucrat
charged with escorting her to safety
well rated but often underappreciated
children of men is a true masterpiece
that has been seen by far too few number
5 Dredd ready
ready Sylvester Stallone’s adaptation
for the 90s was dreadful so it’s easy to
see why moviegoers steered clear of this
low-budget 45 million dollar Mulligan
finally doing the dystopian source
material justice it’s extreme violence
was loaded with deadpan humor and Karl
Urban mailing the character permanent
helmet look and all maybe Dredd will
become a classic when the slo-mo fueled
reception is finally worn off super
clothes forgotten as a block operates
under the same rules as the rest of the
city I am the Hall number 4 Kiss Kiss
Bang Bang yeah I peed on it
what would you peed on what I’m sorry
you you peed on the corpse in my
question it’s on my question I get to go
first why in perfect health would you
pee on a cork in 10 – it’s not like I
did it for kicks yes it is possible for
a tongue-in-cheek satire starring Robert
Downey jr. – flop just breaking even
this memorable murder mystery brings a
private eye and a small-time thief
together for a romp filled with comedy
bizarre twists and razor-sharp banter
still gay me no I’m need even pussy I
just like the name so much can’t get rid
of it we guess audiences just aren’t as
open – pitch black comedy and noir
themes anymore which is a shame where is
the girl what did you just do just I put
in one bullet tonight put a live round
in that gun oh yeah there was like an 8%
chance was this s88 yeah who taught you
math I don’t know number three sunshine
Sify usually takes us on journeys to
other planets not the Sun here a crew is
sent to reignite our star with a nuclear
bomb following the disappearance of the
first group several years earlier we
have a payload to deliver to the heart
of our nearest star we’re delivering
that payload because that star is dying
and if it dies we die only winning
technical achievement praise and failing
to recoup its forty million dollar
budget
sunshine is still a memorable danny
boyle film with intelligent action and
heavy on the themes of science versus
fundamentalism
to challenge dog
number two the fountain nominated for
several awards is art film only one for
its score while recouping less than half
of its costs a romantic drama starring
Hugh Jackman it follows three storylines
based on the themes of love and
mortality there’s a disease it’s like
any other and there’s a cure a cure and
I will find despite getting a standing
ovation leading up to its release
popcorn chewing audiences didn’t
gravitate to this visually rich tale
that focused solely on loss and despair
number one The Life Aquatic with Steve
Zissou more taking the top spot on our
list is the box-office flop by director
Wes Anderson there’s a special magic in
this eccentric Lea whimsical tale
starring Bill Murray as an oceanographer
seeking revenge on a shark well if
you’ll excuse me I’m gonna go on an
overnight drunk and in 10 days I’m going
to set out to find the shark that ate my
friend and destroy it anyone who would
care to join me it’s mine and welcome
shot with Anderson’s polarizing style it
interestingly animated all of the
underwater creatures in stop-motion a
true hidden gem
you have to submerge yourself in it to
understand what makes it so special
his pitiful steam
yeah it’s pretty good do you agree with
our list it’s okay which film do you
feel is underrated for more entertaining
