best anime movies that just haven’t got
the attention that they deserve found
got the boy code on up there now
get up what if I’m an oppa we’re rating
these features based not only on how
good they are but how far under the
radar they flew
number ten Little Nemo adventures in
Slumberland this is one of a few films
that was made as a team effort between
Japanese and American directors Little
Nemo took a few pieces of the comic
strip Little Nemo in Slumberland and
used it as a stepping stone for the big
screen movie
oh my taking the helm Nemo fish all the
way up tightly now falling you guessed
it a boy named Nemo and his adventures
in a mysterious realm called Slumberland
which is heavily influenced by a circus
coming to town music orchestra name of
my boy this is what we call Fortuna gee
the movies art and design looks
something akin to Disney’s art but the
anime influence is still unmistakable
leaving Little Nemo as a rather unique
piece of cinema escapees from night our
nightmarish king
number nine the place promised in our
early days mother since all my is a
billboard dr. Dana’s mother Pocono veal
Picatta
analysts are making great use of
friendship and love the place promised
in our early days depicts the story of
three friends from middle school
Takuya Hiroki and suruí over the course
of four years ena Hokkaido salad my cuca
after Sayuri mysteriously vanishes
during this hour the two boys drift
apart three years later the story
resumes with the reunion of the two boys
and a revelation regarding Sayuri
despite the relatively relaxed build-up
the end of the movie is intense and
packed with fields with memorable
animation and a few unforgettable scenes
one after another this is number eight
wolf children
and what do you do when your kids aren’t
exactly human wolf children tells the
story of Hana a normal human that falls
in love with a Wolfman
look at me
tell me why you see unfortunately the

trying to help his family left with her
two kids
yukia Nami the story follows her kids
journey as they grow up half human and
half wolf and their decisions on how to
live so Yuki what’s up come on talk to
me hey wait up
Yuki stop being dumb wolf children is a
shining example of what a coming-of-age
movie should look like animated in
Mamoru Hosoda signature style the humor
and emotional impact of this movie has
viewers laugh sobbing throughout mommy
how could a wolf voice has to be the bad
guy huh you mean like in the picture box
everybody’s mean to them and they always
get killed at the end number seven grave
of the fireflies this one’s a goner too
you can see it in their eyes a movie
which many are aware of but you have
actually seen grave of the fireflies
tells the story of sibling sciata and
Setsuko as they try to survive the
terror of the bombing raids over Co Bay
during World War two
though the movie has a very desolate and
futile atmosphere throughout its story
the animation is incredibly beautiful
and the story is as heart-wrenching as
they come
unfortunately despite the beauty of the
film grave of the fireflies is often
avoided because let’s face it nobody
wants to be this sad number 6 Nausicaa
of the valley of the wind hold on a toe
don’t die many older anime movies are
fairly unknown but have a strong cult
following Nausicaa is one such film
being released by the group that would
become Studio Ghibli before the studio
was actually founded oh go back in the
jungle this is not your world come on
now be good it is however occasionally
included in Ghibli collections the film
Falls Nausicaa the princess of the
valley of the wind and follows her
adventure in a post-apocalyptic setting
in which a vast toxic jungle dominates
the land despite still being one of the
most memorable and beautiful of Ghibli
productions it’s often one of the ones
that people don’t know even exists it’s
so beautiful it’s hard to believe these
spores could kill me five minutes
without a mask and I beat it number five
the Cat Returns
ms/ms capir that gave me with a move
that many Studio Ghibli movies break new
ground but a few revisit older themes
The Secret World of Arrietty revisited
my neighbor totoro the cat returns on
the other hand went back to the beloved
spirited away why in the world do you
think I should give you a job
anyone can see lazy boy crybaby and you
have no manners after saving moon the
prints of the CAD kingdom harue
a human girl is offered his hand in
marriage by the king and unable to say
no outright

kimochi Dakota masa go oh no moto a
doctor atashi wa naze Amitabh ni Shi
nicosia Reshma matatabi Mario – I know
unfortunately despite breathtaking
animation and unforgettable characters
like Haru and the Baron the Cat Returns
never saw the love that spirited away
did
number four only yesterday
oh those that oh don’t say I’m at the
could I say fugitive films include more
adult themes and fewer still are just
simply not family movies only yesterday
is one such film that is made for adults
following 27 year old taiko on her
journey to the countryside to help with
the safflower harvest Dona Guinea Nova
neodo Geneva
Konoha nubira no ketchup ganga co de
tama mu 0 ni kagayaku to see no vanilla
on her way and while there she
reminisces about her times as a 5th
grader and what’s happened along the way
since the themes of being true to
oneself and others are explored in a
realistic mature way with drama that is
masterfully written for adults and
though it actually hasn’t seen a release
in North America it is expected sometime
in 2016
number three the girl who left through
time what would you do if you could
literally leap through time dealing with
all kinds of teenage drama from romance
to friendships and awkward confessions
the girl who left through time follows
makoto as she ends up with the ability
to leap through time and the adventures
that follow
tell me am i alive I am Alive aren’t I
there’s there’s nothing wrong with me is
there hmm your bangs look a little
strange this film was the first of
Mamoru Hosoda as originals and he has
remained using the same art style ever
since
full of life and vibrant characters the
story told here is beautifully put
together and has such a fitting
bittersweet ending that you’ll never
forget it
number two mind game
an instant cult hit due to its
absolutely off-the-wall style mind game
is a very unique anime film the
animation is fluid and trippy but
constantly changing the style and design
of the movie makes use of drastically
different styles of animation from super
realistic to super deformed and it
really pushes the bill on how to patch
together these different styles massimo
sukumari kevin gogo megastar a hot dosa
gave us the gringa uh the plot though
one continuous story is also a bit crazy
and off the wall leaving viewers
completely in the dark as to what will
happen next
mind game style may push some away but
the movie is a real treat if you can get
past that initial bout of crazy before
we unveil our top pick here are a few
honorable mentions
that coming oh really your partition you
know why you meet each other Oh Canada
hum do showers at this cool munde on
Iran om Donna it started snowing in the
evening on the day Akari and I promised
to meet look Takaki it still be the cat
he always hangs out here doesn’t he
number one the tale of Princess Kaguya
Oh with a beautifully unique style of
art reminiscent of watercolour paintings
Princess Kaguya is a standout anime film
the story follows Kaguya a tiny girl who
was found inside a glowing bamboo shoot
at the beginning of the film she grows
quickly and the story follows her growth
into a princess and beyond how much do
you think the Minister of the right
actually spent to create that fake I’m
sure that’s all I am to those gentlemen
the movie parallels a number of classic
Japanese myths making the painting like
art feel especially fitting while it may
end on a bit of a downer
spoiler alert Princess Kaguya is
incredibly memorable and deserves a lot
more recognition than it gets
let’s run come with me and we’ll go I’ll
carry on my back and run forever we’ll
go someplace where nobody can ever find
