number ten I Robot Viki hello detective
in this science fiction action movie
about artificial intelligence robots and
Will Smith’s love affair with Converse
sneakers a supercomputer dubbed Viki
seeks to enslave our species to protect
us from ourselves
to this end she wriggles her way through
a loophole in the Three Laws of robots
intended to prevent robots from harming
humans and unleashes hordes of glowing
mannequin like minions Oh
despite being inspired by Isaac Asimov’s
robot fiction the movie was more or less
a straightforward blockbuster but hey
there were some great special effects
and action sequences for the time
number nine nine the machine was born
purely of my intellect which I now know
was not enough based on a short film of
the same name the movie 9 showed us that
the only beings to survive the robot
revolution will be the tiny sack people
with cute little steampunk goggles and
big zippers the story takes place after
the extinction of mankind but through
flashbacks and exposition we see how a
dictators intelligent fabrication
machine created war machines that
exterminated the people of Earth 9 was
director Shane tackers first feature and
the story was on the simple side but an
outlandish premise splendid visuals and
solid voice acting made it stand out we
need your help we awaken something no I
awaken something something terrible
number 8 wall-e in Pixar’s wall-e humans
are their own worst enemies having
turned the earth into a toxic garbage
dump
but it’s the robotic autopilot of the
Starliner transporting human survivors
through space that serves as the movie’s
principal antagonist
when Otto mutinies against orders to
return home it takes the combined
efforts of humans and robots to defeat
him Pixar’s environmental fable about
consumerism waste and man-made
catastrophe had a powerful message and
charming protagonists in wall-e and Eve
a feat that’s particularly impressive
given the fact that neither could say
much more than their names
number seven Westworld there’s medieval
world Roman world and of course
Westborough based on Michael Crichton’s
novel of the same name
West Ruth is about a theme park where
the attractions turn on the guests on
paper the resort which is populated by
lifelike androids sounds like a good
idea to light the senses of a decadent
Roman world rescue a damsel in distress
in medieval world or duel a gunslinger
in the eponymous West world come on not
know but guess what something goes
horribly wrong
the situation is made worse when the
park supervisors shut off the power
allowing the Raptors I mean robots to
run completely amok it was a visionary
look at the future and it lives on in
HBO’s TV series of the same name
you got anything out here man
number six Avengers age of Ultron you
all not worthy it’s a classic tale man
creates a monster only for the monster
to turn on its maker in Avengers age of
Ultron the Victor Frankenstein of the
story is Tony Stark who designs the
artificial intelligence Ultron
unfortunately Ultron’s solution to the
ills that plague the earth involves the
extermination of the entire human race

to do this he marshals an army of robots
and uproots a fictional Eastern European
city as a sequel
age of Ultron was arguably overstuffed
but a fun superhero romp with action
humor and special effects galore all of
you against all of me how can you
possibly hope you stop me number 5 X Mac
enough do you have a name yes
Ava subtle suspenseful and believable ex
machina messes with our minds at every
turn this independent science fiction
flick from Alex garland explores the
potential pitfalls of creating an
Android with an intelligence far more
advanced than our own if I reverse the
power flow it overloads the system
you’re causing the cuts when a
programmer is invited by his boss to
test Ava a humanoid robot the employees
soon figures out that she also has her
own agenda ex machina is a tense
thought-provoking thriller with
outstanding performances what’s more
Garland script rightly received an Oscar
nomination for Best Original Screenplay
plus it also has some pretty great
dancing

die and Ridley Scott’s neo-noir sci-fi
classic a group of five engineered
slaves goes rogue and returns to Earth
seeking to extend their four-year
lifespans only a particularly surly
Harrison Ford can hope to stop them and
a plot that loosely follows philip k
dick novel Do Androids Dream of Electric
Sheep that’s what it is to be a slave
the replicants and Blade Runner are not
really robots
although the opening crawl calls them
the product of robot evolution but
neither are they completely human let’s
call them bio robotic Androids studio
executives almost ruined the movie
insisting on a cheesy voiceover and
Hollywood ending but Scott’s director’s
cut set the record straight and helped
cement the film as a cult classic Bank
kid number three the matrix welcome to
the desert of the real
when neo chooses the red pill he wakes
up to discover he’s a human battery for
robots that have taken over the world
but it wasn’t always like this as we
learned in the Animatrix once upon a
time man and machines lived in harmony
until mistreatment prompted robots to
rise up against their masters didn’t
side with this sci-fi action flick the
Wachowski took an intriguing premise
what if the real world is an illusion
and combined it with groundbreaking
special effects and fight scenes to
leave an indelible mark in modern cinema
dodge this number to 2001 a Space
Odyssey open the pod bay doors help I’m
sorry Dave I’m afraid I can’t do that
Stanley Kubrick’s masterpiece is easily
one of the most acclaimed influential
and perplexing films ever made but prior
to the existential and enigmatic ending
the movie is largely a straightforward
tale of man versus machine during a
mission to Jupiter the ship’s computer
pal 9000 suddenly malfunctions
according to Arthur’s Seat Clarke’s
novel written concurrently how faces a
maddening contradiction he is designed
to relay accurate information to the
crew but directed to conceal their
mission objective solution kill the crew
name

goodbye Canadian actor Douglas rains
creepily calm voice gives how a sinister
menace that continues to chill viewers I
