count down entry by entry will also be
playing a few of the games on that
countdown because that’s the only way to
trick these guys and getting into the
same room together today we’re taking a
closer look at one of the most downvoted
lists in WatchMojo history the top 10
overrated video game franchises let’s
meet the panel over here we go Mike

didn’t understand that let’s get going
so fable was number 10 prim echo says I
would have to say fable is underrated
guys thoughts favor Dave we know how you
feel
yeah if you want to see how much Peter
film on you I’ve rights his his games
just pretty much Google search the mall
and you cycle that’s pretty much what
I’m gonna say on that yeah Molyneux I
mean he’s famous for making huge huge
promises and never delivering on a lot
of those promises when fable 1 was in
production it was codenamed project ego
and he said in his exact words it’s
going to be the greatest game of all
time among some laundry list of other
features that the game was supposed to
have that never did we read along I
don’t think this is gonna be too
contentious Angry Birds at number 9
Angry Birds ain’t bad cuz Rovio keeps
changing them like epic was an RPG and
the transformers one was you get the
point and two they have a nice freemium
model nice for me mumble it does not
especially with Angry Birds – it was
because of that frania model that the
game kind of crashed
well it’s lost its steam it its
overburdened itself with
microtransactions it start off you could
play the whole thing now your nickeled
and dimed – every step you know it’s and
it’s over skin in the way that now it’s
in space now you’ve got Rio you’ve got
Star Wars you got transformers you got –
it was done – dad piggies it’s done and
the thing about angry butts – is like it
was such a fluff that ravio actually had
to downsize that company it works as a
mobile game and now it’s on the PC it’s
on consoles they’re trying to make it
something that it’s not it’s it’s a
distraction game it’s a fun little
activity it’s not meant to be what
they’re saying it is we’re trying to
make it into okay so I got a comment
here that should lead us into the
next entry do you even lift says explain
how Kingdom Hearts is overrated just
please you had no real reason why it’s
overrated
that’s like saying Borderlands doesn’t
have enough weapon variety these days
the thing like the first Kingdom Hearts
game I don’t think we’re on the right
label just on a time it’s sequels
however I feel like it’s kind of Maeda
story much more complexed for the sake
of being complex that’s it well I mean
in the video someone I won’t name names
snuck in the line oh we actually have
another comment about that it’s not
gonna line that it’s a Disney Final
Fantasy emo circle-jerk and I kind of
agree with that well just to comment on
that the AG locator said in caps did he
just call Kingdom Hearts a Disney Final
Fantasy circle-jerk that may kind of be
the case but we don’t play Kingdom
Hearts just for that even the fans agree
so we’re actually gonna play our next
game but I do have another continent to
lead us into it okay so number seven its
fizz says two mgs did you even play the
games now we’re actually playing the
phantom pain here which is the first
game I’ve played since portable ops and
I’ve never been so conflicted about a
game that I loved but I’ll leave it to
you guys to talk about it at voiced Dave
thoughts well I’m trying to fight a bear
right now okay well then I’ll just start
the gameplay is tight as hell all of
that is great it’s just everything else
I find the open world is kind of empty
yeah I’m just gonna bring up the the map
here for a sec you’ll look here you’ll
notice that there’s a lot of rides here
that go around since it looks like it’s
a big up and well but then you look at
this areas like this you see cliff lines
like yeah yeah you can actually access
that stuff and the stuff that’s in
between it’s all like stuff that you
encounter on the missions I still don’t
think the series is over 80 even if you
don’t count this even back in 2012 I
think it’s very very very easy to get
past the completely insane plots and
ridiculous characters because it’s the
title like the Metal Gear Solid series
is the tightest stealth action games you
can possibly get like the guys who make
these games they they set the bar smooth
there’s a stealth action the parts where
it’s being
a game are fantastic it’s the part where
it tries to be a spy thriller movie that
it just don’t like and it goes crazy
like but you put all of that stuff aside
and I think you absolutely can put all
of that stuff aside in favor of the
super tight fantastic gameplay that no
other studio can run I don’t think any
of us is saying a thing is anything
wrong the game by the gameplay here is
absolutely amazing yeah but in 2012 we
said that we put this on list of being
overrated franchise you know you guys
don’t feel that way anymore
I don’t think it’s overrated at all even
without this I don’t think this is over
well I just think I think the game has
to be judged as a whole I liked it too
but I also don’t think it’s 10 out of 10
game for me it’s between an equity fund
and nine out of ten for me but yeah the
the issues that I mentioned earlier they
kind of hold it back from being like
more on my absolute bear identity so
right before we move on let’s just pull
you to Metal Gear Solid franchise
unless it’s it’s still I find it
slightly overrated it could be an HM
maybe and the thing is that people give
it 10/10 you know it’s more of an AI in
this game fair enough and I think not
overrated whether or not you even count
this game not overrated now not
overrated in 2012-2013 oh well that was
a contentious entry so let’s move on to
an easy one moving right along we got
number six watermelons says how is GTA
on the list overrated I think it
shouldn’t be on this list
especially after GTA I don’t think it to
be on the list either well here’s the
thing with GTA it’s it’s a really really
good franchise and I love the GTA games
I played GTA 5 to death but when you
think about how much marketing goes in
how much money goes into this and how
many copies they sell they’re great
games but there are much better games
out there I just feel it’s sort of a
lowest common denominator it’s just like
you can see its value at its face anyway
and it’s the same in every it’s one of
those games where every iteration is the
same game I mean GTA definitely pushes
the envelope well the thing about like
gta’s pause missions they were they’re
pretty good but nothing spectacular DK
files missions like the specializations
absolutely spectacular but yeah but for
every heist you have to go like work on
the docks or have a bike race or like or
play or
or do yoga anyway I at the risk of
bringing the internet down on my head
I’m gonna stop talking about my thoughts
on GTA and read another comment on now
to number 5 the things that tick me off
the most about this video is the notion
that the sonic games were never really
good to begin with that’s bullshit and
it’s a notion that only appeared in the
last few years because of the fact that
even the old 2d games have been tainted
by the fact that most of the modern 3d
games are bad but please people try to
remember this the fact that the 3d games
suck have absolutely no effect on the
quality of the classic 2d games here’s
the thing like the 3d games we’re never
really that good to begin with like the
first two sonic adventure games I’ve
seen a lot of people saying that they’re
really good like a no no they’re not
they sucked and the only reason Sonic is
as big as it is is because it came out
to compete with Mario and it’s been
going ever since
it’s just weird having these like
instant death kind of things in a game
that’s all about speed it does pretty
much pressing rights and he very much
does the same thing for most of the game
well when the game is at its best it
plays itself this is from absolute one
Kingdom Hearts and Final Fantasy aren’t
you serious obviously Zelda franchise
should be on the list but WatchMojo
won’t put it on because they are too
busy sucking Zelda’s dick
Zelda’s the girl by the way so Final
Fantasy I don’t think this one should be
on the list honestly I
you see I would agree with you but for
different reasons I agree that I
probably shouldn’t be on the overrated
list only because the past few entries
haven’t got good ratings well that’s the
thing with 13 like I don’t think any one
type of rating it I think it’s pretty
much the consensus that 13 pretty much
sucks chocobo Bowls you know it got
decent reviews for a game that a lot of
people didn’t like I mean I’m sure
there’s tons of people that did I think
people are afraid to give it a better
view because it has the name Final
Fantasy it’s like when the Phantom
Menace came out like that you know the
Phantom Menace actually has pretty good

Wars I can’t be the one guy who put said
that Star Wars was a bomb I think it’s
the same thing with Final Fantasy 2
asserting its mostly just 13 but hey I’d
love to hear the rest of the series in
with 13 is and to say the whole things
I’ve read I think that’s kind of unfair
to all the other games in the series
Steve says he likes it self-contained
but it’s turned into self-contained
bullshit let’s be honest however that
new one
does look kind of it does look really
good 5-8 15 looks amazing it’s probably
one of my much anticipated games up next

minecraft pokemon mario and the sims are
not overrated but assassin’s creed and
Metal Gear Solid is bullshit
I think that like if we did this entry
if we did this list nowadays sasses
Creed’s kind of gone down in the ratings
so I don’t think we would have to
include it I honestly don’t think it was
a good series to begin with like it’s
it’s supposed to be an optimal game with
stealth elements but the stealth
elements we’re never really good to
begin with I think that the franchise is
they doing it every year they’re
overdoing it and they haven’t fixed
basic gameplay things like I’m trying to
open the door and I’m jumping up and
trying to climb on the mantle or
whatever we’re up the building and
that’s that’s crazy I think that
franchise is starting to go down the
medieval toilet and I feel it’s a real
shame that if that’s if this franchise
gets the bullet and I don’t think it
will any time soon but like it’s one of
the last things that does this
historical fiction thing in a cool way
it doesn’t always tie in in a good way
but at least they’re trying I like this
idea of like different periods of
history moving on to number two Doug
goof-off says this list is terrible I am
a PlayStation fan and I have never liked
the Xbox so it goes without saying that
I’m not a fan of Halo but even I can’t
deny that it is a good game and very
well made more than half the games on
this list should not be here that’s just
my two cents if half the games we
wouldn’t have a list he doesn’t know
what overrated anyway obviously not that
being said however I agree with him that
I don’t think the Halo franchise should
be on this list
I think the Halo franchise did as much
for the console shooters as Goldeneye
did back in the day what I want to say
is that I find that what I love about
this series is the the gameplay the
physics the gun building like all that
stuff is really fun as for the lore
that’s what I find is like totally
overrated there’s like 18 books there’s
for Don to dawn the miniseries there’s a
movie coming but the game itself I was
playing with a buddy through Halo 4 for
example and we were like what the hell
is the story like we didn’t you know
what I mean and some people are gonna
say oh you guys don’t understand it it’s
not really well executed in the story I
don’t really care about the story to be
honest one one particular case where
this weather get what hella cool really
suffered was when they introduced the
main bill on the Didact
because if if you hadn’t read all the
books and beforehand and know why Didac
is such an imposing figure you think
it’s like okay he’s there and now he
wants to destroy it up okay so I know we
picked co-op mode for a specific reason
David because Halo 5 does not have co-op
or not doesn’t have same screen co-op
well yeah well what’s cranes co-op yeah
like the thing there justification for
this was that the frame rate the frame
rate that one have the gang constantly
running at 60 frames per second but
what’s interesting is that Star Wars
battlefronts has 60 frames per second
and it also has a split screen so the
question is if battlefront could do it
why not halo would you say that it’s
still overrated I feel like it should
have ended at halo 3 because I thought
the trilogy was fantastic but 3 for 3
with the new halo series probably yeah
Andrew what about you you guys haven’t
said anything you are clearly really
enjoying this which i think is a point
towards halo I don’t think it’s
overrated at all I mean yes obviously
it’s not as tight in some areas and some
of the games the franchise are better
than others but I think if you count
everything it’s done for the industry
and everything it’s done for shooters on
consoles
you mentioned yeah I think that like
Goldeneye was the first game to show
that like a shooter can work on the
consoles
I think Halo was the first shooter on
consoles to have it work well like last
what about you last word like I said I
love the gameplay I think the gameplay
continues to be fun it’s really good you
grab a buddy now you can’t really grab a
buddy on the couch but that’s separate
it’s the lore I really feel like they
try to make the lure more than it
actually is in the game and that annoys
me so number one Call of Duty Zayn Akbar
says Cod is failing because they don’t
understand variation in demand or
consumer needs and once they only know
what is copying and repackaging you know
the thing about with Cola duty is is
pretty much Activision like they have a
history of pretty much just milking out
their franchises for pretty much what
they’re worth and then when they’re not
selling as much anymore they just
discard them however like it still sells
it still sells extremely well
so I don’t think they’re there really
there’s really any incentive tip to
innovate well I I feel that the
multiplayer and the zombie mode
especially is where the game really
shines yeah that’s where they added some
fresh meat and brains to the bid yeah
but I mean the thing with the franchise
is it straight ahead World War 2 that
it’s modern
now it’s advanced it’s in the future
it’s like 40 years in the future but if
you think about it like if you were to
pick up modern warfare from 2007 and
then pick up
advanced warfare from 2014 and compare
the multi players you could tell that
there’s differences but I don’t think
you’d be able to tell that there have
been six games in between or however it
may no like here’s not six games worth
of or five games or four games even
worth of innovation in between those two
no definitely no no I mean they kept it
fresh with like black ops 3 the zombie
mode has its own kind of day they’re
still trying to keep it safe though now
let me ask you this like as like sort of
playing devil’s advocate if you just
love the multiplayer and the idea of
having new maps a few new modes and new
guns and like slightly tweaked mechanics
every year it’s just like is exactly
what you want because like for the past
year you’ve been playing the same called
duty game if if what you want is just
more of that every year then is this
really bad for $60 every year I’d say no
especially with all the DLC they make
you get oh my god the DLC that’s crazy
you’re gonna end up spending way more
like double the price double the price
yeah I mean to me this franchise is the
equivalent of a popcorn the summer
blockbuster movie so recently the
reviews have kind of slumped for this I
mean not badly it’s dude never goes into
the yellow on Metacritic what do you
think should it would it be on the list
if we’re to do it again yes yes I think
it would be I think it’s totally yeah it
would be it’s overrated I’d rather they
do one push the envelope entry like
every two or three years rather than one
every year okay Andrew no I know you’re
deep in thought here I think it’s
overrated I think even the multiplayer
is overrated I think they just need to
start doing something new if they want
us to keep respecting the series cuz a
lot of people have lost respect for it
as it is alright so it seems that this
list has been officially hashtag
deconstructed quick fast I think we kind
of need

it’s like okay he’s there and now he
wants to destroy it up okay so I know we
picked co-op mode for a specific reason
David because Halo 5 does not have co-op
or not doesn’t have same screen co-op
well yeah well what’s cranes co-op yeah
like the thing there justification for
this was that the frame rate the frame
rate that one have the gang constantly
running at 60 frames per second but
what’s interesting is that Star Wars
battlefronts has 60 frames per second
and it also has a split screen so the
question is if battlefront could do it
why not halo would you say that it’s
still overrated I feel like it should
have ended at halo 3 because I thought
the trilogy was fantastic but 3 for 3
with the new halo series probably yeah
Andrew what about you you guys haven’t
said anything you are clearly really
enjoying this which i think is a point
towards halo I don’t think it’s
overrated at all I mean yes obviously
it’s not as tight in some areas and some
of the games the franchise are better
than others but I think if you count
everything it’s done for the industry
and everything it’s done for shooters on
consoles
you mentioned yeah I think that like
Goldeneye was the first game to show
that like a shooter can work on the
consoles
I think Halo was the first shooter on
consoles to have it work well like last
what about you last word like I said I
love the gameplay I think the gameplay
continues to be fun it’s really good you
grab a buddy now you can’t really grab a
buddy on the couch but that’s separate
it’s the lore I really feel like they
try to make the lure more than it
actually is in the game and that annoys
me so number one Call of Duty Zayn Akbar
says Cod is failing because they don’t
understand variation in demand or
consumer needs and once they only know
what is copying and repackaging you know
the thing about with Cola duty is is
pretty much Activision like they have a
history of pretty much just milking out
their franchises for pretty much what
they’re worth and then when they’re not
selling as much anymore they just
discard them however like it still sells
it still sells extremely well
so I don’t think they’re there really
there’s really any incentive tip to
innovate well I I feel that the
multiplayer and the zombie mode
especially is where the game really
shines yeah that’s where they added some
fresh meat and brains to the bid yeah
but I mean the thing with the franchise
is it straight ahead World War 2 that
it’s modern
now it’s advanced it’s in the future
it’s like 40 years in the future but if
you think about it like if you were to
pick up modern warfare from 2007 and
then pick up
advanced warfare from 2014 and compare
the multi players you could tell that
there’s differences but I don’t think
you’d be able to tell that there have
been six games in between or however it
may no like here’s not six games worth
of or five games or four games even
worth of innovation in between those two
no definitely no no I mean they kept it
fresh with like black ops 3 the zombie
mode has its own kind of day they’re
still trying to keep it safe though now
let me ask you this like as like sort of
playing devil’s advocate if you just
love the multiplayer and the idea of
having new maps a few new modes and new
guns and like slightly tweaked mechanics
every year it’s just like is exactly
what you want because like for the past
year you’ve been playing the same called
duty game if if what you want is just
more of that every year then is this
really bad for $60 every year I’d say no
especially with all the DLC they make
you get oh my god the DLC that’s crazy
you’re gonna end up spending way more
like double the price double the price
yeah I mean to me this franchise is the
equivalent of a popcorn the summer
blockbuster movie so recently the
reviews have kind of slumped for this I
mean not badly it’s dude never goes into
the yellow on Metacritic what do you
think should it would it be on the list
if we’re to do it again yes yes I think
it would be I think it’s totally yeah it
would be it’s overrated I’d rather they
do one push the envelope entry like
every two or three years rather than one
every year okay Andrew no I know you’re
deep in thought here I think it’s
overrated I think even the multiplayer
is overrated I think they just need to
start doing something new if they want
us to keep respecting the series cuz a
lot of people have lost respect for it
as it is alright so it seems that this
list has been officially hashtag
deconstructed quick fast I think we kind
of need
Redux this list by now so if you guys
were to do this list tomorrow what would
you put on and what would you remove
from the current one well I would make
the case to perhaps and people gonna
kill me
put on Zelda I find the Zelda affiliate

would definitely get rid of halo and
probably Metal Gear Solid if I was gonna
add one I think I would add Pokemon I
doubt it I will fat Parc Monceau
like it’s a series that I feel is to
hell back on its formula that was all
the way back in its Gameboy days okay do
you have any thing that you would remove
from the list if I was to remove
something the list I probably would
remove you Final Fantasy I would also I
would also add five nights at freddys
