explore with few boundaries and
limitations while maintaining a smooth

sticking to one game per franchise
number ten Batman Arkham City when you
make a Batman game people naturally have
high expectations expanding on the
linear design of Arkham Asylum
Arkham City has you gliding and
ziplining across the rooftops in a way
that really makes you feel like that a
hot line straight to my bestest friend
in the world well it may be a bit small
and a little drab
Arkham City is packed so full of Dark
Knight lore that you’d have to spend
hours to discover it all let alone
understand it this Court is now in
session
number 9 fallout 3 even though the
entire Fallout series is more than
qualified to be on this list in its own
entry it’s the third installment of the
game that truly captures what open-world
games are all about I guess I don’t need
a foreword they just get in the way of
the real content while the third entry
basically maintains the macabre beauty
set in place by the first two being able
to explore the wasteland from the ground
up is truly the way to go it took care
of our little lost lamb a I knew I could
count on you amidst the ruins of
Washington DC you’ll find an endless
adventure where the often bleak
landscape is absolutely peppered with
harrowing encounters and grim
discoveries
you please kill me number eight
Saints Row 4 while this game has not had
the same amount of success as its GGA
counterpart there is no doubt that the
Saints Row series is giving us some
great games
nice work Oleg though Saints Row two and
three gave us truly great open world
atmosphere the fourth installment
brought us a crazy alien invasion
storyline superpowers and a freaking gun
that shoots dubstep good to be the
president it may have started life as a
dlc for the third game but being able to
trash that city with superhero powers is
way too satisfying to care about that

I mean it you’re not wearing pants this
just got weird
a little bit can I fly now knock
yourself out number seven Far Cry 3
blending the FPS and open-world game
genres is no easy task however the third
entry in the Far Cry series showed us
that it can be done did I ever tell you
the definition of insanity receiving
widespread critical acclaim far cry 3
did not have to sacrifice its open world
freedom in order to deliver a compelling
narrative why aren’t you laughing now
like you did up there what is it’s not
fun anymore am i failed to entertaining
this game also gets bonus points with a
standalone expansion Blood Dragon which
soaked the jungle in neon fueled 80s can
climb to get higher seriously
loading more training hints from the
ABCs of war number 6
Just Cause 2 one of the more
action-packed games on our list
Just Cause 2 has tons of open-world
mayhem to enjoy
at 400 square miles across Just Cause 2
has the largest pre-made map on the list
and the game features the infamous
grappling hook that lets you latch on to
anything who would have thought the best
mode of transportation involved getting
yanked by your arm for miles on it my
revolutionary mercenary a number 5
Assassin’s Creed Black Flag the
Assassin’s Creed series as a whole is
known for huge environments to explore
and Black Flag took it even further
by giving you your own ship to sail
around the Caribbean and pirating any
ship you feel like along the way
staggeringly huge
there’s simply no end to the towns
desert islands and turquoise waters over
which you can explore stab and plunder
men drop to their knees pleading for
their Lord before number 4 Red Dead
Redemption Rockstar seems to have a
knack for making open-world games that
go above and beyond the norm contrary to
the beliefs of many this game is not
just GTA set in the Old West players
take on the role of John Marston a
former outlaw who’s trying to reunite
with his family by doing the
government’s dirty work they maybe come
here they gave me no choice that’s your
federal government mr. Johnson he has to
deal with con men Mexican revolutionists
and his former gang which in turn makes
it one of the most critically acclaimed
games ever made we can get those gates
to open for you and you can walk right
in just like in homers great Trojan yarn
yeah number 3 minecraft you would be
hard-pressed to find a gamer who does
not know about this wildly popular low
res block laying game
minecraft is comprised of almost endless
worlds that are randomly generated for
each player where it’s tranquil by day
and dangerous by night with no distinct
goal building and exploring in Minecraft
becomes a strangely addictive and often
existential experience that you have to
try to understand number 2 elderscrolls
v skyrim few games truly give you the
hands-off freedom right off the bat that
the Elder Scrolls series can’t offer
peerless in the realm of RPGs any
shortcoming that Skyrim has in terms of
narrative storytelling is absolutely
eclipsed by the sheer volume of content
packed into its stunning landscapes I
envy you you know to climb the 7000
steps again go to the top of any
mountain you see enter any building
explore every cave and dungeon better
bring protection though it’s dangerous
to go alone I cut to believe it your
Dragonball before we reveal our number
one pick here are a few honorable
mentions
number one GTA 5 while pretty much any
GTA game is eligible for the top spot
with San Andreas also being considered
GTA 5 was the fastest selling game in
the series’s history and with good
reason
problems started when recently I became
unretired though players had been to Los
Santos before it has grown a lot in
their absence and at least when I’m
wearing clown outfits there’s a plus
teaming with interesting characters and
innumerable distractions the macro
detail of the math is only rivaled by
the micro detail at every turn while all
the rest of the open-world games give
you enormous sandboxes to explore
the attention to detail makes this game
city feel true alive I mean what
bullshit comes out of your mouth you’re
gonna learn all about my past glories
