Top 10 Movies Sequels You’ve Never Heard Of

he’s got these eyes and and these girls
like her and he walks around like this
Hey hi hi and well I see some movie
sequels are epically unnecessary
these are epically unknown welcome to
watchmojo.com and today we’re counting
down our picks for the top 10 movie
sequels you’ve never heard of come on in
the water’s fine for this list we’re
looking at sequels to popular movies
that are virtually unknown to the
general public hmm they should also have
some recognizable if tenuous connection
to the original a prince does not
whoo-hoo we’re focusing more on how
unfamiliar a sequel may be rather than
on the actual quality of the film you
need to pay to jump in
so even if it was trashed by critics it
still could and probably did make the
list number 10 asked Darko a Donnie
Darko tail
Donnie liked to draw how’d you know his
name you told me Donnie Darko performed
modestly at the box office but became a
hit once released on DVD why are you a
that stupid place
why are you wearing that stupid man
shoot this uncalled-for sequel tries to
replicate the surreal uneasiness and
rising menace of the original but fails
miserably there’s got to be some
connection between what happened to Sam
and Donnie that was Sam’s brother she
didn’t mention him to me the coolly
arcane plot of the first film becomes a
hopelessly tangled storyline that
involves Donnie’s little sister
sleepwalking visions and a catastrophic
meteorite event matter anymore
my brother Cory Billy
at that reviewers were entirely
unimpressed and asked Darko managed to
register a zero percent approval rating
among the critics on Rotten Tomatoes the
box office returns were meager as word
DVD sales you will I died for you will
you do the same
Donnie like to Train number nine
American Psycho to please no more even
Mila Kunis’s biggest fans are often
surprised to learn about this directive
video production from 2002
goodbye poppy
this is definitely a case of a studio
shamelessly exploiting on an earlier
more popular production in the hopes of
ringing up a little cash I was in
Batemans apartment in this instance
Lionsgate simply took a script they had
lying around and modified it to give it
a connection to the original they found
Bateman and his final victim a few days
later the FBI quickly uncovered a
Psychopaths and a few extra murders on
him and he became an instant celebrity
the film lacks style depth and
credibility I mean it is it any wonder
Kunis liked to forget it ever happened
sweet dreams number eight Roadhouse
– last call Patrick Swayze’s Roadhouse
vehicle did decently at the box office
and even better on TV and video what’s
your name buddy
coffee black yeah all right thanks Joe
Swayze is noticeably absent from the
direct-to-dvd sequel though instead
Johnathon Schaech is on hand to play the
son of Swayze’s character when you
question freddy rogers see if he knows
anything about my father’s death we
think he had something to do with that
no but always ask apparently audiences
didn’t need to see any more adventures
revolving around the exciting life of a
barroom bouncer I let my father borrow
my car that night in the driveway
he walked in so much shock the original
is hardly great cinema but it’s
enjoyably cheesy in a fun way the sequel
is just dumb I’m gonna kill you just
like I killed your father
number seven
splash – it makes you happy yes
moviegoers took the lovable mermaid
Madison and her land lover beau Allen to
heart when Disney unleashed splash on
the world in 1984
hey come back a large part of that film
success is due to the chemistry between
Daryl Hannah and Tom Hanks I was ready
to stay with you forever I know now they
know who you are they’re never gonna
leave you alone that chemistry is sadly
lacking in the made-for-tv sequel Amyas
back and todd wearing have neither a
spark nor the charisma of their
predecessor I couldn’t get through so I
went to fern I don’t know what to say
I’m trying this time I’m really trying
worse the sequel is obvious and cloying
pitching the film to six-year-olds
breakfast is the most important meal of
the day and only you can prevent forest
fires it barely made a splash and sank
without a trace I like you hearing I
like to learn thing number six
another nine and a half weeks also known
as love in Paris
and Mickey Rourke and Kim Basinger blew
the mercury out of the thermometer with
the first nine and a half weeks
eleven years later Rourke tried to
create similar erotic magic with Angie
Everhart you know we’re a lot alike you
and I we had to invent ourselves it
didn’t work
Rourke who possessed a weathered charm
in 1986 is simply seedy and sour here
for her part Everhart is attractive but
somehow not alluring I can’t get excited
unless I see you crawl across the floor
the filmmakers try to create a scheme II
heated exploration of sexual longing but
audience arousal was sufficiently sated
by the original number five the birds to
Lands End
it’s all right
alfred hitchcock’s expertise style and
ghoulish sense of both the absurdity and
the frailty of human life are missing
from this made-for-tv sequel to one of
his biggest hits
any follow-up to the Rod Taylor Tippi
Hedren classic is facing an uphill
battle but this retread doesn’t even try
a seagull ran into me say go yes a
seagull it copies the basic outline of
the first belt but does so without any
sense of commitment tension surprise
thrill not here
no wonder audiences flew right by this
feeble offering
number four wargames the dead code how
do you know that videogames launching
war games replacing the threat of
computer-generated nuclear war with the
threat of computer generated terrorism
is a workable idea company sort of help
me forget stuff out since I’m not
totally sure how it work unfortunately
the filmmakers didn’t really do much
with the premise rip will have to play
out the war game scenario each event
will end in total annihilation which is
a direct contradiction for programming
as a result when Matt lanters boy genius
character is facing his trials and
challenges all the viewer does is
remember when Matthew Broderick did much
the same thing only better shall we play
a game
not so much reading from meta Malkin gal
game yes
Joshua many many games number three a
dangerous man Lawrence after Arabia and
I would like its contents to be made
known here as immensely popular as
Lawrence of Arabia was it wasn’t the
kind of film that left audiences
clamoring for more adventures of the
uncrowned king of Arabia the two
oriental for my taste but that didn’t
stop British TV from hoisting one on the
world surprisingly this sequel is not
that bad
the Hashemite royal house under prince
faisal
proved itself in battle it would prove
itself also in peace sure it doesn’t
compare to the first film but it has
some very effective moments and ray
finds is solid and charismatic as
Lawrence Lawrence of Arabia hi man it
even won an International Emmy as Best
Drama but it’s been buried by the sands
of time and
your indifference I’ll be back as soon
as I can number two my summer story also
known as it runs in the family
Oh released to theaters as it runs in
the family this film is a sequel to the
much-beloved a Christmas story however
only one character the schoolteacher
miss Shields is played by an actor from
the original and the direction is
generally sluggish I should really send
a note home about this while a Christmas
story overflowed with quirky charm only
one thing in the world could have
dragged me away from the soft glow of
electric sex gleaming in the window the
summer follow-up is a bit of a yawn er
don’t open your little maps there wasn’t
much demand for it as witnessed by the
fact that it grossed a paltry 71
thousand dollars during its brief
theatrical run holy smokes that’s my
allowance for two whole weeks and unlike
the original it hasn’t found an
afterlife on TV or DVD synchronize your
watch we’ll all meet back here in two
hours before we reveal our top pick hey
do not play with that here are some
honorable mentions
oh no you don’t
yes the plastics are goddesses and Mandy
can like ruin you I wrote one article on
school uniforms and she put strawberries
in my yogurt so you think we should stay
I think I can be persuaded
just drop it here
number one National Lampoon’s Christmas
vacation to cousin Eddie’s Island
Adventure we’re all taking off on a
all-expense-paid Christmas vacation
Randy Quaid’s cousin Eddie helped create
memorable havoc in National Lampoon’s
Christmas vacation as a supporting
character he was right in his element
has the star of his own made-for-tv
spin-off not so much boys right I’m just
one big disappointment this incredibly
sluggish comedy about a family
shipwrecked while on vacation never
builds up steam now we’re toured to
remarkably few of the jokes land with
anything other than a resounding thud
and the title character wears out is
welcomed within the first few minutes
spoiler alert the family gets rescued at
the end but it’s far too late to rescue
this dreadful sequel Catherine I’m not
afraid of a little pig do you agree with
our list Oh fine short I guess I don’t
know what other obscure movie sequels
deserve to be on this list
